I agree to so extent, but the back story is every bit as important to a match as the actual content of the match. Like the Super Bowl last year would've been just a boring game with a good final 4 minutes had it been played by two 5-10 teams in Week 17. But since the championship was at stake it's an all time great game.
I'm confused...how does someone give a match 4 and 3/4 stars instead of 5? Is there just nuances in certain matches that have to be upheld (i.e. 0 botches of any sort, perfect story, edge of your seast action)?

all 17 had was the TLC which was done 2 times before. Rock vs Austin was overated just because they feature 2 of the top guys doesnt mean they work a good match. They only had Storytelling but not actual wrestling. HHH-Taker was overated aswell it was not that good of a match. 19 was the best IMO
Thats complete BS. Firstly, Rock/Austin isnt universally rated high just because of it was Rock and Austin. Its rated the way it is because evrything about it worked. The storyline was great. The build was great. It topped off one of the best shows I've ever seen. The atmosphere was crazy. The wrestling and psychology in it were great. Everything worked. W/ Taker/HHH, it was a really great brawl and, up to that point, it was prolly Taker's best WM match. 19 is great, but I'll take 17 over it

Austin's match against Hart was Good but not 5 star material, It had little to no tech wrestling and was just hardcore. If you want hardcore look for ECW 1999. HBKs match at WM14 WAS NOT GOOD. The only people austin had a good match with are both harts and Angle.
Austin/Bret from WM13 is generally regarded as one of the top 3 matches in WM history and one of the best matches of the 90s. And watch their match from Survivor Series 96. And I wasn't talking about his match w/ HBK @ WMXIV. I'm talking about their KOTR match from 97, which was really good. You obviously have never seen it so u should check it out. W/ Rock, ppl want 2 c him cuz of the promos n he can put on GREAT matches w/ HBK or Rey or Cena (all of whom he's never had 1 on 1s w/)

Watch his matches before he got hurt in 97 in WCW n WWF. He was consistently putting on good to great matches. He had 2 adopt more of a brawling style afterwards because of his neck. Seriously, think before u type this stuff...
He's rating the show as a whole..there may have been a few bad matches but there were 4 **** matches and the overall event was fun and enjoyable as a whole.

in every wwe ppv is at least one or two matches dq mostly in title matches because they want the current champion to keep the titel but they have no ideas for storylines

This year's 'Mania was actually pretty good. The card was MUCH BETTER than Wrestlemania 23. Entrance of the Night was John Cena's marching band/football jersey entrance. Match of the Night was Flair vs. HBK, with Money in the Bank a close second. Shock of the Night was Orton's retain of the WWE Championship, with Matt Hardy's return a close second. Worst Match of the Night was BunnyMania. Overall an almost five-star card!
Enjoyed the 1st half, but thought it went a bit shit after the Flair/HBK match, but nice to see it outdoors, really made a difference for me, amazing arena.
WM was awesome, even if there were some bad matches. My main problem with the show right now is that Coach is the worst commentator in the game now. He actually takes away from the matches, miss calls moves, has an annoying voice. The Main Event was awesome but if they had someone else with Cole it would really have come off a lot better.
Flair is the man still, and it was the perfect way to go out for someone who gave us fans so much, and I can remember watching him since the mid 80's.

The Flair match was GOOD, but come on...not only was the wrestling not anything special, the whole HBK doesn't want to put Flair angle kinda became cheesy and soap opera at one point.
Overall, the show was very good but it could of been a 100 times better if the WWE would of put on a "WRESTLING" show...not a "Entertainment Show"...but thats the argument that never ends.

The Flair Vs. HBK match was one of the greatest and most emotional matches that I have ever seen as well. Michaels hard fall to the announcers table really got me, I so thought that he wouldnt be able to continue. It was amazing that he worked through and was able to let Flair have what he wanted. I loved that after that happened Flair had to help HBK through it as well...
INTENSE AND FULL OF EMOTION, what wrestling SHOULD be about!
My 2nd Favourite Wrestlemania so far actually, RAW following it was pretty good too...
I really liked the opener actually Truthslayer, thought that both guys wanted to see blood. I like that Kane has a Title but wish it was the outcome of an actual match.
So what's changed with WWE? It seems like it's an entirely new product which is nice to see. Everything from the booking of each match to the quality just seems to me to be on the up and up.
The Flair HBK match was such a back and forth battle that you just had to mark through out the whole thing. The middle was amazing and whats when you really knew this was a great match, implementactions or not. And yes, I cried when they showed the "I love you" part. Part of me knew it was over while the 10 year old boy inside me knew he would kick out. Its going to be the picture of the year in wrestling.
I agree with you Tslay surprisingly this ppv was impressive i enjoyed every match except Batista vs Umaga all the rest were amazing even the bunny mania match it was definitely worth my money to see this. and whoever missed it well you missed history being made lol
I give the Flair vs Michaels match 5 stars. It was just amazing. It had really good wrestling, the crowd was totally into it and the emotion was just through the roof. I also have to admit i lost it during this match. I broke down during the final moments of the match aswell, especially when seeing ric exiting the stadium.
Wrestlemania 24 was a great show, I would of gave it 10/10 but 3 things knocked a point of it. If Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian and Raven Symone wasn't involved I would of gave it 10. Why was Kim the hostess? Should of been Mean Gene Oakland.
several things, kane vs. chavo, it worked. the fans loved it. second, the randy orton, john cena, and HHH match made no sense. it was no d.q. out of no where? they were all going for their finishers out of no where. it was confusing. besides that a good review.

Batista only brings his A-game when facing someone w/ more experience (Taker). Umaga tries carrying Batista, but that didn't take that well. I'll give Umaga his due. He was a bit faster and did seem like he was ready for a "PPV" quality match. I notice some people in the front cheering for every offense Umaga did to Batista.
Nice review. I disagree on Batista/Umaga. I saw it the other way around. Umaga seemed to halfass everything and then he dead weighted Batista at the end. Still a decent match though. Overall an awesome pay per view. NOT ONE BAD MATCH!

in every wwe ppv is at least one or two matches dq mostly in title matches because they want the current champion to keep the titel but they have no ideas for storylines

there were only 2 good matches.
at destination x there were only 2 bad matches.
wwe is just not that great any more. why?
1. nothing will ever change. we will have very similar fueds after wrestlemania
2. all the matches have the same endings
3. they will never push guys like the hardys carlito, shelton ect

KNowing the WWE, Taker will probably lose a 3-way match. Not getting pinned...putting no one over. Nothing.
I doubt you'd come accross another more golden oppertunity for Taker to lose than to Edge. He never faced a guy like Edge at Wrestlemania.

This year's 'Mania was actually pretty good. The card was MUCH BETTER than Wrestlemania 23. Entrance of the Night was John Cena's marching band/football jersey entrance. Match of the Night was Flair vs. HBK, with Money in the Bank a close second. Shock of the Night was Orton's retain of the WWE Championship, with Matt Hardy's return a close second. Worst Match of the Night was BunnyMania. Overall an almost five-star card!

WM was awesome, even if there were some bad matches. My main problem with the show right now is that Coach is the worst commentator in the game now. He actually takes away from the matches, miss calls moves, has an annoying voice. The Main Event was awesome but if they had someone else with Cole it would really have come off a lot better.
Flair is the man still, and it was the perfect way to go out for someone who gave us fans so much, and I can remember watching him since the mid 80's.

The Flair match was GOOD, but come on...not only was the wrestling not anything special, the whole HBK doesn't want to put Flair angle kinda became cheesy and soap opera at one point.
Overall, the show was very good but it could of been a 100 times better if the WWE would of put on a "WRESTLING" show...not a "Entertainment Show"...but thats the argument that never ends.

4 and 3/4 stars?ric flair hbk not good 2 best spots both moonsaults to the outside by HBK, ric flair had no spots and the 2 spots were the same thing by the same guy. the match started out as ric flair impersonation night. chops, wow what technique that must take. yes flair came off the top, he did that on raw too, there was no build up to it like there was a few years ago against carlito, so instead of flair FINALLY doing it, we had an old man belly flopping a slightly younger man. not gd match

The Flair Vs. HBK match was one of the greatest and most emotional matches that I have ever seen as well. Michaels hard fall to the announcers table really got me, I so thought that he wouldnt be able to continue. It was amazing that he worked through and was able to let Flair have what he wanted. I loved that after that happened Flair had to help HBK through it as well...
INTENSE AND FULL OF EMOTION, what wrestling SHOULD be about!

My 2nd Favourite Wrestlemania so far actually, RAW following it was pretty good too...
I really liked the opener actually Truthslayer, thought that both guys wanted to see blood. I like that Kane has a Title but wish it was the outcome of an actual match.
So what's changed with WWE? It seems like it's an entirely new product which is nice to see. Everything from the booking of each match to the quality just seems to me to be on the up and up.

The Flair HBK match was such a back and forth battle that you just had to mark through out the whole thing. The middle was amazing and whats when you really knew this was a great match, implementactions or not. And yes, I cried when they showed the "I love you" part. Part of me knew it was over while the 10 year old boy inside me knew he would kick out. Its going to be the picture of the year in wrestling.

I give the Flair vs Michaels match 5 stars. It was just amazing. It had really good wrestling, the crowd was totally into it and the emotion was just through the roof. I also have to admit i lost it during this match. I broke down during the final moments of the match aswell, especially when seeing ric exiting the stadium.

Wrestlemania 24 was a great show, I would of gave it 10/10 but 3 things knocked a point of it. If Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian and Raven Symone wasn't involved I would of gave it 10. Why was Kim the hostess? Should of been Mean Gene Oakland.

Yo, T-Slay, I just read that they're gonna have another draft in the coming weeks. Whats the whole point of a draft when:
a)All of the superstars are appearing in every show
b)This draft thing is just to keep filling up the RAW roster, and keep giving the SmackDown!/ECW roster crap Treatment.

Batista only brings his A-game when facing someone w/ more experience (Taker). Umaga tries carrying Batista, but that didn't take that well. I'll give Umaga his due. He was a bit faster and did seem like he was ready for a "PPV" quality match. I notice some people in the front cheering for every offense Umaga did to Batista.

Nice review. I disagree on Batista/Umaga. I saw it the other way around. Umaga seemed to halfass everything and then he dead weighted Batista at the end. Still a decent match though. Overall an awesome pay per view. NOT ONE BAD MATCH!
