babi is 6 years old??????????????????????????????????????? bullshit you can clearly see his iris is 100% black this guy is like 3 or 4 months old, look at how he attacks at 1:17. thats a habit of young budgies, to be more aggressive
@dividednation44: Thank you for dropping by. Born Sept. 2005 (see "Youngster Li'l Babi Revisited"). First uploaded to YT in July 2007 (see my channel), and latest upload is from Dec. 2011. What you refer to as "attacking" is how we have taught him to kiss, with the flat of the beak (see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue"). In these types of mutations, the eyes are black and remain so. (NOTE: Babi is one of the "longer-lasting" budgies on all of YT...)
@CVersailles well it seemed like he was expressing his power on you, just like how my budgie greenie does to every creature being nice to her, hahaaaaaaaaa! nice, he is absolutely beautiful.
@CVersailles My budgies still have completely black eyes and i got them in April, does this mean they're the longer lasting breed too or are they still too young?
@talihdawn: I'm no expert in budgie "mutations" in the least, but your budgies have already (or almost) reached adulthood so there is a good chance their eyes will remain black...
@189crazygirl: Babi has a "well-rounded tummy"! LOL! But he is not "chubby" in the least: "lean and mean" at 33 grams, he is examined yearly by an avian vet and has always been declared "all muscle"!
@MonochromeHyena: My husband and I both entertain a strong bond with our budgie Babi -- he is very lovable! He loves to be kissed! And he's a pretty good kisser himself (see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" on my channel)
I so enjoyed your videos of Babi. I think it is wonderful to hear him in English and French. I wish I did as well in French. lol Thank you for sharing your time and your Babi.
@adottybirdL I'm pleased that you are entertained by Babi's videos... Remember that French is Babi's (human) mother tongue, and English his (human) second language: you should compare your French to his English!
I'm glad you feel that way, katrevallio1: this vid has brought about a touch of controversy, especially among teenagers, some of whom do not take well to a 60-year-old lady "smooching" with a budgie! LOL!
@stephwilson92: Wings are not clipped! But for a young budgie first entering the home, I advocate clipping the wings: just ONCE (the wings grow back after the first moult), it facilitates the initial taming and minimizes the risk of injury. To forge a genuine "bond," I would say 2 years, but it all depends on how much time you spend with the bird (see also "(How I) TAME Budgie Li'l Babi" on my channel).
Thank you, grabbingpeelz, you are quite correct in your assessment. But Babi is bonded to both his human caretakers, and also to our female finch, his bird companion. (See, e.g., "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue," "Kiss & Tease Budgie Li'l Babi" and "Who's Boss? Mozambicus!" on my channel).
@CVersailles I will definitely watch your other videos! I have a Budgie of my own (I've had him since I was 9... I'm 21 years old now :D) so watching these adorable videos always brings me such joy. Thank you for sharing your videos~
@grabbingpeelz: It brings much joy to my heart to know that there is a possibility that Babi will live for 6 more years! That would be fantastic! You must also be very bonded to your budgie...
@CVersailles I love my budgie very much. :) Unfortunately my little guy is very old and time isn't on his side, but I make the most of what I have now.
@grabbingpeelz: You can't do much more than that! Whether our budgies are 6 months or 12 years, we should all follow in your lead and make the most of what we have...
@TheAstraNation Are you done? You're wasting our time and we don't care about your education. An opinion is an opinion, but you are just disrespectful. Go and blow some weed or something.
@TheAstraNation: You can't please everyone all of the time... As of today, 27 Oct. 2011, the vid had 93.4% likes to 6.6% dislikes: in politics, this is a HUGE majority! LOL!
@CVersailles Yes of course, because old and nasty women smooching the living hell out of budgies is totally related to politics. By the way, kissing the budgie can be proven toxic to the bird especially with all your nasty saliva. Now im not saying that the bird will throw fits and die, it is just unhealthy and unsanitary. People liked this vid, because of the well tamed budgie, not your disgusting ass. If you look at all budgie videos, they have way more likes thn likes, so your not special.
@TheAstraNation The bird looks incredibly healthy. It's also really hard to tame a budgie, so I do think it is special. I think it is beautiful that some animals in this world are really loved and have a warm life, because so many haven't. Please go do something else with your time, 'cause you're nothing more than rude.
@TheAstraNation: Have you conferred with several specialized avian vets? Have you attended dozens of conferences on parrots? Have you read countless books on parrots and written countless (published) articles on budgies? I have, and I suggest that your knowledge is probably very flimsy compared to mine. In addition, budgie Babi is 6 years old, is (and has always been) in outstanding health.
@TheAstraNation: The extent of your vocabulary is impressive... and quite indicative of your level of knowledge, intelligence and education. You may now move on to another channel, as you have overstayed your welcome on mine.
@CVersailles Don't talk to me about education L0L! This youtube, not English class, so don't school me please. Overstayed my welcome? This is youtube, L0L.
@TheAstraNation: On the Internet, just like in real life, people are expected to express themselves with manners without resorting to foul language just to express an opinion. In your discourse, the use of words like "dumb bitch," "old and nasty," "disgusting ass," etc. are totally uncalled for and on the Internet, just like in real life, you won't get very far with that. You are 17 years old? Bug off!
@TheAstraNation lol you're so embarrassing, u remind me of my pathetic attempts at being cool on the internet when I was 12. But trolling budgie videos? really? I dont think I was ever that desperate. Another lol@your credentials. Sounds more like you're a friend-less, delusional basement dweller whose only achievements are in video games :(
On that point, we certainly agree, Zsiganator! He is not only sweet, but also very playful, active and smart (see, e.g., "Budgie Li'l Babi Has Problems..." & "Budgie Li'l Babi Has Problems Again..." on my channel), and he is a formidable speaker (see, e.g., "Incessant Talking Budgie Li'l Babi").
@CVersailles That was very rude of them, so you should just ignore people like that. They haven't been taught manners so that's their problem. Anyways awesome Budgie you had :) It's adorable!
Thank you for your kind words and support, wishingstars163, but be assured that no "rescue" is necessary: these types want to provoke "negative" reactions (anger, hurt, indignation, ...), so I make it a point to reply in a way that does not provide what they seek...
@SonnyA89: Really? What a revelation! After 6 years (age of the budgie) of being advised by our specialized avian vet, it is so comforting to know that we can also rely on your own expert advice...
We put a lot of emphasis on proper diet, sleep and exercise, so having Babi described as "healthy looking" is a great compliment! Thank you, xx0mandy.
@CVersailles Ok, what kind of exercise do you mean? Flying? I have two budgies and they also fly and play a lot, I give them different kinds of food and of course: lots and lots of love! In my opinion they look very healthy too. Especially the girl, but she's a bit of a snob, hahaha. Always cleaning herself so her feathers look perfect.
@CVersailles Oh wait I found it at another video of yours. You're really french? Well, I'm from the Netherlands (: You I also have Dutch names for my budgies. But I'm a bit busy now with my study, so it's hard to tame them. When I was younger my budgies were extremely tame. Such beautiful animals!
@sbfltiff: they certainly do look alike, but Babi has NO markings whatsoever on the head, whereas Ollie does. For 6-year-old Babi's kissing abilities, please see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
@sbfltiff: they certainly do look alike, but Babi has NO markings whatsoever on the head, whereas Ollie does. For 6-year-old Babi's kissing abilities, please see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
@twin1010101010 -- 09-16-11, part 2: There ARE ways of doing things, and this is a good case in point: we have had Babi for 6 years, we kiss him profusely daily and he is in perfect health (anyone with lingering doubts may confer with his avian vet at the Montreal Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital).
@twin1010101010 -- 09-16-11, part 1: It is very telling of your level of knowledge, intelligence and education that you feel compelled to use such language to express an opinion. I have worked with birds for a number of years and I probably know more about the bacteria in our mouths than you ever will. (Cont'd in part 2.)
Aww...such a cute little budgie and so tame too. How old is Babi? Reminds me so much of my little squeaker, Fluffy. Except that Fluffy was a vicious biter (he just found it fun to bite everything, not because he was afraid. He'd come out of his cage for us.) in every other situation except when kissing his bell or if you kissed the back of his head when he was out of his cage, he'd kiss back. Sad that he's gone, I miss my little squeaker. I'm happy that he reached 9 or 10, had a good life.
I understand your feelings, Astromanteia, as I find it difficult to imagine life without Babi, who is now 6 years old as of this month (September 2011). What we appreciate most about him is that he is "multidimensional" (see "Multifaceted Budgie Li'l Babi" on my channel): not only is he playful, affectionate and interactive to the core, he is a formidable speaker with a large vocabulary (see "Incessant Talking Budgie Li'l Babi").
I'm pleased that you concur with our assessment of Babi's cuteness, animelover1082: for further insight into Babi's kissing skills, see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
I think what people don't understand the 'kissing' behavior of birds is normal. They share touches with beaks as a form of intimacy and shared feeding. I've HAD birds try to feed me in the past (growing up in an aviary) Its part of normal behavior for them.
@CVersailles ^-^ Well I love birds and I've grown up with them since I was small. So I know alot of people don't really understand them or the relationships that they have with their owners.
Perhaps you have not viewed the whole vid or were distracted, Cheeseburgerparakeet: what does Babi do when I stop kissing him? See, e.g., at 0:25, 0:40, 0:53, and 1:44.
That's because Babi is the CUTEST budgie in the whole, wide world, jollyholly45! All kidding aside, for more "Babi cuteness," see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
Oh how cute - when you think of how small and fragile a budgie is and then the trust and affection it shows its human - its really amazing. God bless all budgies xxx
Perhaps it is a consequence of your youth, BirdsRock11, that you confuse "sex" and "affection"... Hopefully, as you mature, you will gain some insight into these matters.
And we are ridiculously attached to him because of it, Ritzkit4ABitzkit. For more ridiculous budgie cuteness, see "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
I'm pleased to learn that you concur with our assessment, dani495x. If you enjoyed this vid, you will probably like "Budgie Li'l Babi Kisses on Cue" (on my channel).
P. S. - Claire, I do believe one major reason Lil' Babi has lasted so well and so long is the power of all the love given to him, plus the 5 star care.
Hello meriprem, I'm delighted to hear from you. I hope you are in good health and spirits. Yes, Babi is alive, well and still making You Tube videos, and YOU have a lot of catching up to do! LOL!
Thats so sweet! I have two budgies, the male (Ocie) is very affectionate to me. But the female(Belle) makes my fingers bleed everytime I try to touch her. I've tried everything to win her over and she's starting to show some improvement... but why was she so hard to tame when he was a perfect lil baby?
Hello Creafret88228: I have little experience with female budgies, but I am told that they are generally more aggressive than the males, which explains Belle's behaviour. The males are more "easy-going so to speak... I guess you just need more patience with Belle than with Ocie...
@CVersailles True. But since I'm in school and there is no one at home half the day, I decided it would be best to have two so they have each other. I wish I could spend more time with them, I try to give them all my attention when I am home though. I think the bond you two have is rather amazing, I love watching your videos.
Some experts say that a budgie should NEVER be left alone, not even for 20 minutes to run an errand... That is perhaps extreme, but it is true that they are VERY gregarious and never alone in the wild. That is why you do well to have more than 1 budgie! We counted on our finch to keep Babi company (and vice versa), and it has worked! I have little experience with 2 budgies, but as far as "taming" them, experts say they should be taken "separately" (short sessions with each in a separate room).
@CVersailles They are very attention demanding. Although I don't think that spending every moment of my life with my little ones will be healthy for me. I'm hoping to get them two more friends as well. I don't dare separate them for too long, I have tried training them in separate rooms, but the little smarties both know where their cage is and will fly to the bedroom door and wait for me to open it for them to go back to their cage. I also have to consider that I've had them less than a year.
Yes, valensueala, someone from Malaysia has already pointed that out... It's actually not bad at all: everybody knows that pigs are very smart and that they make great pets!
Glad you enjoyed it, 04Ammy04. It is but one facet of our talented budgie. For a "bigger" picture, see "Mutifaceted Budgie Li'l Babi" (on my channel).
I can never stop watching this video :) She reminds me of those marshmallow peeps, yellow ones :3!

@CVersailles He's really sweet! And I like his name :)
xx0mandy 4 months ago
@xx0mandy: His name is short for "Babillard" ("talkative") in French.
CVersailles 4 months ago
@CVersailles Okay that's funny! He's really beautiful too. How old is he?
xx0mandy 4 months ago
@xx0mandy: Babi turned 6 in September 2011.
CVersailles 4 months ago
@CVersailles Really? He looks so healthy! My budgie girl turned 6 in May 2011.
xx0mandy 4 months ago
We put a lot of emphasis on proper diet, sleep and exercise, so having Babi described as "healthy looking" is a great compliment! Thank you, xx0mandy.
CVersailles 4 months ago
@CVersailles Ok, what kind of exercise do you mean? Flying? I have two budgies and they also fly and play a lot, I give them different kinds of food and of course: lots and lots of love! In my opinion they look very healthy too. Especially the girl, but she's a bit of a snob, hahaha. Always cleaning herself so her feathers look perfect.
xx0mandy 4 months ago
@xx0mandy: flying, running, keeping generally active... (And I will soon have a new video that shows how Babi entertains himself during the day.)
CVersailles 4 months ago
@CVersailles Oh wait I found it at another video of yours. You're really french? Well, I'm from the Netherlands (: You I also have Dutch names for my budgies. But I'm a bit busy now with my study, so it's hard to tame them. When I was younger my budgies were extremely tame. Such beautiful animals!

@xx0mandy: Quebec province (Canada) is French speaking. French is our mother tongue and English our second language.

CVersailles 5 months ago
@twin1010101010 -- 09-16-11, part 1: It is very telling of your level of knowledge, intelligence and education that you feel compelled to use such language to express an opinion. I have worked with birds for a number of years and I probably know more about the bacteria in our mouths than you ever will. (Cont'd in part 2.)
CVersailles 5 months ago
@twin1010101010 I think you should go back to medical school. The transmission will probably from bird to human.
JoachimderZweite 5 months ago
Aww...such a cute little budgie and so tame too. How old is Babi? Reminds me so much of my little squeaker, Fluffy. Except that Fluffy was a vicious biter (he just found it fun to bite everything, not because he was afraid. He'd come out of his cage for us.) in every other situation except when kissing his bell or if you kissed the back of his head when he was out of his cage, he'd kiss back. Sad that he's gone, I miss my little squeaker. I'm happy that he reached 9 or 10, had a good life.
Astromanteia 6 months ago
I understand your feelings, Astromanteia, as I find it difficult to imagine life without Babi, who is now 6 years old as of this month (September 2011). What we appreciate most about him is that he is "multidimensional" (see "Multifaceted Budgie Li'l Babi" on my channel): not only is he playful, affectionate and interactive to the core, he is a formidable speaker with a large vocabulary (see "Incessant Talking Budgie Li'l Babi").

I think what people don't understand the 'kissing' behavior of birds is normal. They share touches with beaks as a form of intimacy and shared feeding. I've HAD birds try to feed me in the past (growing up in an aviary) Its part of normal behavior for them.
lacewinglml 6 months ago
After several recent "less-than-inspired" comments on this vid, yours is a genuine breath of fresh air, lacewinglml: thank you!
CVersailles 6 months ago
@CVersailles ^-^ Well I love birds and I've grown up with them since I was small. So I know alot of people don't really understand them or the relationships that they have with their owners.

P. S. - Claire, I do believe one major reason Lil' Babi has lasted so well and so long is the power of all the love given to him, plus the 5 star care.

Oh, Hi, Claire! It was so lovely to find you and Lil' Babie again!
I love how he comes running after you for more kisses.
I eventually had to adopt out both my budgies - I just have my one pet now.

Creafret88228 9 months ago
Hello Creafret88228: I have little experience with female budgies, but I am told that they are generally more aggressive than the males, which explains Belle's behaviour. The males are more "easy-going so to speak... I guess you just need more patience with Belle than with Ocie...

He really is the cutest, my babies won't give me any love. :/
viicksterrz 10 months ago
Thank you viicksterrz: with more than one budgie, it is difficult to establish a "bond"...
CVersailles 10 months ago
@CVersailles True. But since I'm in school and there is no one at home half the day, I decided it would be best to have two so they have each other. I wish I could spend more time with them, I try to give them all my attention when I am home though. I think the bond you two have is rather amazing, I love watching your videos.
viicksterrz 10 months ago
Some experts say that a budgie should NEVER be left alone, not even for 20 minutes to run an errand... That is perhaps extreme, but it is true that they are VERY gregarious and never alone in the wild. That is why you do well to have more than 1 budgie! We counted on our finch to keep Babi company (and vice versa), and it has worked! I have little experience with 2 budgies, but as far as "taming" them, experts say they should be taken "separately" (short sessions with each in a separate room).
CVersailles 10 months ago
@CVersailles They are very attention demanding. Although I don't think that spending every moment of my life with my little ones will be healthy for me. I'm hoping to get them two more friends as well. I don't dare separate them for too long, I have tried training them in separate rooms, but the little smarties both know where their cage is and will fly to the bedroom door and wait for me to open it for them to go back to their cage. I also have to consider that I've had them less than a year.
