  • Yes they have plenty of opportunities to hide. You're not giving the coyotes enough credit. They're not ignorant by NO means. They're clever and they most of the time trick the hounds. Like I have said before, you need to go join the ASPCA and actually go say animals that are actually being neglected and abused...believe me, there's plenty of them out there. I think you're just wasting you're time with this. So go help the animals that actually matter.

  • Well I find it awfully childish to keep bickering about this. And yes it's VERY childish to DARE somebody to post something. I know that the coyote population is getting ridiculous and I personally think they should just be shot. I just recently lost one of my dogs to a pack. So now do you still think that they're so innocent and mistreated? In my area, the coyotes look better than the dogs. They're fat and happy. They're in the pen 24-7, so I assume since they know the lay of the land better

  • So, there are 100 coyotes and 100 dogs in a 600 acre pen. Are you serious?! A single coyote in the wild is known to have a 10sq mile (6400 acre) territory. In your pen, that is reduced to 6 acres per coyote? That sucks! Does your pen provide enough hiding areas for all 100 coyotes? The 7-to-1 ratio is what is being proposed by Indiana and is typical for many pens. It is atypical to have a 1-to-1 ratio as you suggest. No "childish need" here, just looking for the truth.

  • I found that the size of the pen is over 600 acres. Anything else?

  • So did that satisfy your childish need to play truth or dare? I know many people that raise hounds and run them in field trials. I trust those dogs fully. They're not aggressive or vicious like you make them out to be. They do what they have been bred to do. They hunt and run.

  • I'm not sure of the EXACT acreage of the pen. There are over 100 coyotes in the pen I believe and the most hounds I have judged was slightly over 100. So the coyotes aren't outnumbered 7 to 1 as you have previously stated. I'm not sure how they do things down there, but here the coyotes are taken care of and no we don't just let the hounds attack the coyotes and kill them. Yes sometimes, there is the misfortune that one is bayed and is killed but seldom happens.

  • it down humanely. Pens are not humane no matter which way you would like to spin them. They encourage breeding of an "invasive" species, they limit the hide areas (if provide them at all) and they run countless coyotes with 7X as many dogs in a very small portion of what would normally be their habitat range. Why don't you tell everyone on here the size of the pen you attend, the total coyotes in the pen and the max number of dogs run during a field trial? I bet you won't do it!!! I dare you!

  • Other wild animals are bad too, like the hogs you mentioned. I'm in agreement with wildlife management practices, that include hunting, to maintain sustainable numbers of these animals and eradicate the invasive ones if need me. What I am NOT for, is the capture, shipment, relocation, breeding, confinement and running to exhaustion and death inside of these pens. If you have a problem coyote, try to discourage the problem, but if you have to ultimately defend yourself or your property, put ...

  • No one is saying the coyotes (in the wild) are sooo helpless. I'm a realist and understand that technically, the coyotes are an invasive species and don't belong in FL. HOWEVER, we (man) decided it was our RIGHT to destroy all the natural predators that DID exist here NATIVELY (panther, red wovles, etc). The coyotes would not have been able to make a dent in FL if these NATIVE predators would not have been hunted to near extinction. That said, the coyotes are filling a niche role in FL ecosystem

  • Or how about all of the poor little dogs that have to be toted around in people's purses and have to wear little clothes? That itself is animal cruelty! Lady you need a reality check. I'm sorry if you disagree with me, but things are just different here in Missouri then where ever you're from. Oh...and by the way. I believe you should be corrected when stated that you had "down" hours of research. I believe you meant "hours".

  • Ok. If the coyotes are just sooooo helpless, what about the pets that the coyotes kill in backyards? Or the MANY calves that have been killed by coyotes??? You can't just pick one species and say that they're so mistreated when there is a reason that they're hunted. Are you going to say next how mistreated the wild hogs are? They distroy acres and acres of land used for farming and grazing. Or why don't you fight for all of the animals that are used for animal testing for medicines and vaccines.

  • ... nor was the public convinced. If it is so "clean" and "family" oriented, why don't they let me bring a handful of my friends and walk around freely (like a judge), cameras in hand, at your next sanctioned event? It won't happen because you're afraid we'll "twist" what the camera is showing. The truth is you pack the pen with wildlife that typically roams thousands of acres, you then stuff the pen with dogs outnumbering the wildlife at least 7-to-1, and let them "chase" them for hours on end.

  • @MissCountryGirl08 - I do understand this "sport". I have down thousands of hours of research, talked with hunters, talked with neighbors, seen numerous pictures and "trophies" online and have worked with the Wildlife Agencies in four states. I showed my findings to the FWC countless times, sat through public hearings, spoke, participated on stakeholders groups, and presented my case. The hunters / pen operators had the same opportunities. They were there, presented their side and the FWC ...

  • I just read the rest of these ridiculous posts. People never cease to amaze me. I'm pretty sure that the hunting dogs I've been around are plenty fed n watered n are treated like family. They're not mistreated in anyway shape or form. You people are so immature and really need to grow or maybe just get a life. I'm sorry if I've offended anybody but seriously go to a hunt and have the experience. It's NOTHING like u may think. Thanks.

  • Excuse me!? But this is NOT dog fighting. It's a sport. Yes sometimes the dogs get ahold of a coyote but mostly the coyotes are a lot smarter than u give them credit for. You shouldn't criticize something that you don't understand. If you ban something like this, why don't you ban any kind of hunting period. Sorry if you PETA tree huggers don't like the facts. Go read up on it before you go post stupid videos of silly women screaming. It's quite annoying and scared my dog. Thank you!

  • who could do such a thing to a harmless animal?

  • ALL PEOPLE THAT THINK THIS IS WRONG CAN MAKE A DATE AND PLACE AND ALL TAKE NUMBERS IN A NICE AND NEAT FASHION AND KISS MY ASS!!!!!!!!

  • hope this bitch goes to hell. she was feedind them next to her house. she had no worry bout her pit bulls runing free. but letsworry bout other peoples problems

  • @ProlificDepression23 ya this bitch is crazy but so are you and I would love to chase you down tear you apart slowly. I have grown up hunting and fat lazy idiots that turn loose a pack of dogs are not hunters. 90% of hunters are out of shape pathetic delusional rejects that have no business killing another animal. Its ok though just keep doing or defending morons and your day will come. Someone like me will get a hold of you and make you wish you never were born.

  • @Sevensixseven78 I just was looking through my messages and saw this little gem on here. I have a good idea who made the post about running foxes but I will deal with him when I see him. I just wanted to let you know you got a bulldog mouth with the ass of a hummingbird and a blatant misunderstanding on my regions customs. While yes the man who wrote the original post is a fat ass not all hunters are out of shape blood thirsty hillbillies. Our ancestors utilized this method of hunting to

  • @Sevensixseven78 survive. Considering the current state of our economy, I would suggest you learn some way to fend for yourself. You should perhaps read the book Walden. It may help you understand why we are not so quick to throw away are ways of survival. If you come to northwest florida you can attempt your shit but I would suggest you not leave any business undone because it is extremely likely you wont be returning to where you came from.

  • Not legal in Florida any more! As of 6/23/2010 Florida passed a law banning Fox and Coyote pens. Awesome news!

  • I wish they would use pitbulls on the coyote.would love 2 c that.

  • @mjsmith62 I wish a pitbull would tear you apart. Now that would be great!:)

  • @Sevensixseven78 Yeah,me 2!lol

  • Don't blame the dogs! They are tortured too! Kept year round crowded into tiny outdoor pens with little food or water, and NO medical care or vaccinations. They are only taken out occasionally to participate in this HORROR that ignorant people try to pass off as training, or worse, tradition. I know this because I live in FRANKLIN CO. FL, and my neighbor in the middle of Apalachicola is doing this! AND THE FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISSIONER CONDONE AND UNANIMOUSLY SUPPORT THIS IN WRITING with FWC!

  • Open up the fence (that's what I've done). Always carry a gun with you because dogs have tried to attack me as they try to chase the fox/coyote.

I've found that a 9mm hollow-point will take out any aggressive dog.

  • It will be nice when all you caveman finally become extinct.Shame on you!!!!Shame to torturers!Shame on people who enjoy the suffering of others!!!You are on par with historys worst barbarians!

  • @jside your just a woman the only dog i see was your dog when you are taking a pic of the coyote

  • ABC 123 Let us good country people learn to articulate and display a reasonable amount of literacy w h e n w e t y p e. Also to all you liberal fruit loops taking a moral stance in the name of emotions, if you dont own land and livestock / poultry where the wild hogs root up and destroy your hard earned fertile ground, then for change walk a mile in our shoes, then come up with some reasonable solutions to the p-r-e-d a-t-o-r problem. If u r so moral then lets end abortion of the unborn together.

  • @OBAMABInlaDENrublind Predators go by nature after easy targets, which is what livestock is. If you make them more difficult targets, the probability will go down. Coyotes and other predators also go after rodents and other prey, which will be allowed to interact with your livestock unchecked and share parasites. Deer ticks are also spread by voles and mice, as well as others. If there was a wolf then those hogs too would have an enemy. You just need to provide obstacles to protect your animals

  • How is this a sport??? It might be if the coyote had a chance to get away! It's sick and wrong!!! Anyone who takes part in this should be shot! Or better yet, put them in a cage with a bunch of coyotes and no way out!!!

  • Its a sport man. you dont understand.

  • So is dog fighting.

  • its not dog fighting an it wont be long till than pen will be back open an we will all be back

  • yeah it is. It's state sanctioned blood sport and this spreads disease to communities and is state sponsored child abuse since these sick perverts who get off of this let their kids watch. These hunting dogs are also dangerous because children are the same size as coyotes and can turn on kids.

  • Thank you for bringing this cruelty to people's attention. If dog fighting is illegal, then this should be illegal as well.

  • i think you people have nothing better to it looks like you are the one messing with the wild life an what you just did with that light is breaking the law i have ran up thier for years an you took a picture of my truck before thier for ill see you in court if you keep this up
