Okay, I have driven many School buses w/ the 8.2 DD. It sounds different here since it has an open exhaust. I definitely know this engine, inside and out!
@MrKoby13 It's not wise to refer to other users as "dumbasses" when you don't even know the difference between HERE and HEAR. That is quite funny. The education system must have let you down quite badly - unless you are genuinely thick!
Quick lesson... You HEARD the engine, you can HEAR the engine and so on. First select the correct word, then the correct tense. That's past, present and future to you.
Have a think before suggesting other people are "dumb" as it only appears to be you!
No it is not a two stroke...a two stroke diesel has a very distinct sound... Pull up Detroit 8V71 on here and listen to the difference.....You'll love the sound of that two stroke for sure
sounds like an 8.2......not an intertrashional powerjunk (6.0, 6.4) the 7.3 was a great motor..... the 8.2 and the cummins vt555/903 were some of the only engines that factory repair shops would rebuild and give u a tail-light warranty on.... as long as it ran good.. .it was a good motor.... just hope nothing went wrong w/ it...
@86godsmack, You can think what you want but I have been driving a 95 7.3 in stop and go traffic for a while and it runs like the day it was bought. Got a friend who has over 300K on his and its never had a serious problem like a thrown rod. Not trying to start an argument.
Yep, and the method of timing is different. Unlike the old 2-strokes which didn't require special tools, these need a timing kit from Kent-Moore which is no longer being manufactured to properly time the injectors.
@douro20 yea that sucks becuase we have one in a capacity yard mule still runs strong though itll spin the tires over haha which are bald and gel filled
that doesnt look much bigger than a big block chevy so i wonder if it would fit in my k-20 but how heavy is it and what are the hp and torque ratings on it
Depends on the original application of the motor. There are like 5 or so versions (turbo, non-turbo, marine, etc.). For the turbo version I think it's peak horsepower is 260 @ 3200 RPM and peak torque is 580 @ 1750 RPM. It may not be that much larger than a big block but it will be much heavier. For example the 6BT is only 5.9L and it weights 1300#.
is this a 2-stroke diesel?
