nice to see this setup man, but it makes me wonder: are high schools in the USA so small? seen the size of your setup i get the idea that the room isn't very big ()no offense, love the setup anyway) but if my school (south netherlands) has a party we use a minimum of 3 JBL HLA concert subs and top cabs a side with Crown Itech HD's and sometimes even EAW KF 730 Line arrays for indoors... am i just spoiled or would this have another reason??
i love to see those differences, they interest me a lot
Serato runs much smoother. Primarily as a wedding DJ, Virtual Vinyl had alot of features that came in handy...especially the ability to run standalone w/ dual decks if for some reason the USB interface would go out.
I have tried a lot of software, never VV but I found Serato to be the best and truest DJ'ing experience. It's true the others have some stand alone stuff that makes mobiles easier, but Serato keeps you on point. Congrats on the job you do and the pro equipment is always good to see in use. JD
I have no issues with the t-shirt. Polos have their place but are overused by many mobile DJs... not to mention most of them buy cheap ones and look more sloppy than many t shirts do. If it fits your style, keep the t-shirt. The kids won't care. Nice work.
Thanks Wags, coming from you it means a lot :). Sure dressing a bit more formally can make you appear more professional, but I wear my monkey suit enough.
I would have picked up a 57sl but my buddy sold me his SL1 for a very good rate, so I had no need for it. I gave my Denon to one of my DJs in Iowa along with my Virtual Vinyl
Supurb mixing skills. I agree though, about the lights. That gym was huge. The two color strips barely lit it up, and from the other end, it make the light setup look small. Spread them out if you can, put 20+ feet between them. Big gyms are always hard to light up.
Thanks Cyro. Yeah, it would have been great to bring out a bigger rig with more wash lights and truss...but for a 200 person dance at this pay scale - what I brought out already trumped what they were used to :)
If you get this gig next year, or another dance at this school, maybe suggest to the staff that the dance be moved to the cafeteria, or something smaller than the gym. I don't think you needed more lights, just needed to position them.
I have 2 mega pixels, and a lot of times I spread them out to increase their effect on the gym.
here is a few suggestions... You need a black polo type shirt or something besdies a T-Shirt. I... @nd i might have mounted a light on each speaker stand to spread your lights out... But you did a good Job... DJ Partymaster 25 years experience
Hey man great work with the gig and that looks like a pretty crazy setup. How long did it take to set up and tear down?

Smooth mixing. It takes some skill to mix constantly (and on the ball) like that. Your music collection must be huge?
