Look back 60 years and ask a 1940's employee if they have health insurance.
This became popular why? Because there was a freeze by the government on wages. A person looking to get a better job would be offered "incentives" instead, and health care insurance was born.
Older people relied on family and savings. Divorce was rare, and an out of wedlock child was given up for adoption.
Permissiveness fueled by liberalism is how we got to this point. No one to blame but ourselves.
let's just see what happens if and they finally make it mandatory with the $1000 penalty if you don't go out and get coverage. I don't think many people will be too happy with D.C. and I'd like to truly see how many states challenge D.C. at that point.
shaithis45 Challenge by the states? This is a people's revolt waiting to happen. These mandatory penalties will be the tipping point where normally law-abiding citizens become desperate parents committing crimes for coverage of their families.
I think the point I'm trying to make is that anything is possible and the revolt scenario can happen to. Personally if they get you in penalties through the IRS, I'd just stop filing altogether in protest and make a stand right here and now then let bad govt. continue.
shaithis45 Challenges by the states, law-abiding citizens gone wild, and IRS protests > this "public option" bill doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell !
yeah, I'm just waiting to see how far our current Congress decides to take this. My Dad once told me as I was growing up the Democratic Party was suppose to be for the working man. Somehow part of me is just not buying into that. Just have to see what type of legislation comes out of D.C. Even if it is bad legislation, it can still be challenged before the S.C.O.T.U.S.
Excellent video, I couldn't have said it better myself. Everyone needs to watch this. It's mind boggling how many videos there are of completely ignorant people saying that this is a good plan.
I wrote to congress and basically said that this bill simply cannot pass in any form whatsoever. If people think they're unhappy now. Just wait and see what happens if this passes.
Ok , I know I am not supposed to complain about my "loverly" 180$ monthly family premium, but I hope I can bitch about my 250$ deductible for an ER visit today, and that was only my INDIVIDUAL deductible , NOT my family deductible. Luckily I need scheduled surgery, not ER surgery, and luckily I already paid my doggone deductible today! Geesh
never in my wildest dreams would i ever imagine that i would be forced to pay for health care. this is scary, i have no money to pay, iam on unemployment and can verly afford my rent. i can't even pay my phone bill, how am i going to pay this?
??? 1 of the 10 victims of the bush administration? This IS next great depression, the government isn't going to let you sink. The Reganonics are gone.
Has there ever been a bill or legislation enacted by government that did not burden and encumber the working class? Has there ever been anything done by government that
has not pushed our standard of living lower in the last 30 years? I had an attorney last night tell me I could not speak during a public comment period because I have an interest in a grass roots organization. Where are we headed.
so you basically have the AMA, the drug companies, the hmo's, and the insurance industry all sitting around a table and decided the best "public plan"?
call me crazy but when exactly did we give washington to corporate interests?
Notice how our honorable members of Congress are so concerned about health care reforms cost? Since WHEN do our politicians CARE about cost? This is a good question. Here's my answer. The politicians can't argue against health care reform on any OTHER grounds. There are SIX lobbyists for EVERY member of Congress. Our government is THOROUGHLY corrupt. Congress is in the pocket of the Bankers, Big Pharma and Big Insurance. To hell with the taxpayers. This is a sad state of affairs.
I said it from the very beginning the conservative propaganda has been so thick in the last 40 yrs that Americans just gave in to their lies. They believe that the public option = COMMUNISM. Sad really. Now is not the time to give in mccainisthrough now in fact is the time to destroy private healthcare with propaganda and liable if neccessary. We must DESTROY any attempts and expose their machine for what it is. healthcare reform may not come for another 25 yr so get to work and CRUSH them utterly.
fringefries LOL, propaganda & liable? We don't need no stinkin' propaganda & liable, .... we just need the gosh honest TRUTH> health insurance companies are worse than the MAFIA. The Mafia had HONOR AMONGST THIEVES, they would murder only those who screwed them, not the innocent! So-called "health" insurance corporations would stab their own mothers in the back!!!
The fucking GREED of these Son of a Bitches. They are never going to stop wanting more and more. Here is the kicker, You can't boycott them. They will drop you. You can't drop them, If you do you are screwed if you ever want insurance again. They know you need meds so your screwed there. You are damned any which way you go. They can be as greedy as they want.
There's no end to the neocrud's cunning, evil treachery and obscene greed. Just check out the thousands of deadly corporate designer drugs being advertised on corporate media every second! They even harass the public to death with their sleazy "penis enlargement
" crap which causes blindness so they can sell even more expensive garbage with even more deadly side effects! And if their toxic drugs don't murder enough then their bogus wars will! To the neocruds, critical thinking = terrorism!
We can't let SinglePayer go away, its up to us to take action and make our voices be heard. We must unite and have a Singlepayer Solidarity Movement that is bigger and more powerful than the insurance lobbyists ... we have the numbers to make it happen.
"The medical cartel, at the highest level, is not out to help people, it is out to harm them, to weaken them. To kill them. At one point in my career, I had a long conversation with a man who occupied a high government position in an African nation. He told me that he was well aware of this. He told me that WHO is a front for these depopulation interests."--Jon Rappoport interview
. Every practitioner of the healing art who does not ally himself with the medical trust is denounced as a 'dangerous quack' and impostor by the predatory trust doctors. Every sanitarian who attempts to restore the sick to a state of health by natural means without resort to the knife or poisonous drugs, disease imparting serums, deadly toxins or vaccines, is at once pounced upon by these medical tyrants and fanatics, bitterly denounced, vilified and persecuted to the fullest extent"-
"The medical monopoly or medical trust, euphemistically called the American Medical Association, is not merely the meanest monopoly ever organized, but the most arrogant, dangerous and despotic organisation which ever managed a free people in this or any other age. Any and all methods of healing the sick by means of safe, simple and natural remedies are sure to be assailed and denounced by the arrogant leaders of the AMA doctors' trust as fakes, frauds and humbugs.
In a bankrupt country, the idea base is bankrupt.
Dodd(D) and Shelby(R) are too entrenched in the system and they both need to go. We have no healthcare system in the US we just have graft and corruption.
This is just awful! Thank you for explaining the differences in the Options. Sounds like instead of trying to provide better health care, they're just using this as a means to collect more money from the people.
I'm flabbergasted that there have not been mass demonstrations in the US. But there you go. I guess people really either don't care, don't see what is happening, cannot be bothered or are just plain scared to react?
People are so busy working 2-3 jobs each and every day to pay the bills, and in their spare time, trying to see that our children grow up semi-safe, healthy and with a few moral values. Sigh.
A leak from the Senate indicates a co-operative insurance option may be included. Non profit member funded, but to be viable I guesstimate 5 million or more would be needed day one.
at this point, I say just forget about socialized medicine. it's becoming a scam. it only works in Europe. too many special interest groups in this country.
Denmark and other Scandinavian countries seem like they have found the answer for providing good quality of life to a vast majority of their population.
One thing that gripes me to no end is the concept of Healthcare savings plans. Health insurance was supposed to cover this..but we need more and more supplementary subscriptions to cover growing expenses..when there are ways to easily reduce the cost of pharma and medical care by taking those who don't practice medicine in some capacity out of the profit end of it.
The problem is that there is not a majority in the Senate that will support Single Payer. There are about 40 Democrats in the Senate who would vote for a Single Payer system. And on the other side, all 40 Republican Senators can be counted on to block Single Payer. That leaves 20 conservative "blue dog" Democrats in the middle who will vote with the Republicans for a system that injects trillions of dollars into the pockets of corporations.
* 20 conservative "blue dog" Democrats in the middle vote with the Republicans *
This is what the woefully underinformed American public has a hard time understanding: The Democrats are not a herd, like the Republicans, who all vote together. A third of the Democrats in Congress are conservatives, and vote with Republicans on many critical issues.
Even if the Democrats get 60 Seats in the Senate, the Republicans will still be able to dictate the terms of legislation.
Z200a So we are damned if we vote Democrat and damned if we don't... Which really means lobbyists control Congress... . And Third Parties are out there barely blowing in the wind on a wing & a prayer. We are SO screwed.

not a dime for the poor.
I don't blame the US government for one second.. I blame the population at large.
If this was in UK you'll have riot 24h 7days a week 4 month a year none stop.
Back in the 1990s Thatcher came along and tried to bring a poll tax but after days of rioting it didn't pass.
