I had an old rather scuffed 45 record of Eddy Arnold singing this song some years back that I have searched for to replace after loosing it and my whole life after a ravaging house fire that robbed me of everything I treasured so in this world. I know they were just 'things', but I miss the the life I had before that terrible day...
@buddyzroadie / Hey, Buddy, did you ever find the chords and lyrics to this song? I have the song posted on my channel. I was singing from memory, so some of the words are different from Marty's. Give it a listen. If you still want the words, I could try to post them and try to put in the chords, too.
@cariboubill Hey Bill- That would be wonderful! I haven't been able to find it so far.... That old saying "I don't understand all I know about computers" is so true for me! Ha ha!
@buddyzroadie / Buddy I just posted the words and chords on my channel. You can find them under my post of the song. You may want to correct the words according to the version that Marty sang, If you want to transpose to the key of G
C=G,C7=G7, F=C, G7=D7. Please let me know if this works out for you. It's kind of an experiment on my part
One of the Best of his time. He had a style all his own. All the Best had a style of their own. Even though I was little whipper snapper at the time, his music caught my ear. I grew up remembering that voice and how it just carried me away. RIP Marty.
I also JUST joined so I could add my thanks! I LOVE Marty's voice-- was raised on it and have always said he is the greatest singer of all time. My kids have had to endure my tapes, now MP3 files... I do miss vinyl though ;o)
I can't thank you enough for posting so much of his music-- I have always looked for his CDs in stores but they are hard to find.
He has the best male voice I have ever heard -- he will ALWAYS be my favorite.
i remember in tnn.my dad play & sang with marty on the show & at our house my mom loved his song dont worry about me ,& he would sing it & this song ,he was great singer & always will be
Sometimes the title of a song, if it is redolent of religious connotations, makes listeners steer clear of it.. The close ups of Bill Johnston on steel and the nice use of pedals B and C encouraged me to give it a bash. as usual, the band's balance is impeccable, something which has sadly been lost today or conferred to automatic settings. Bill Johnston's close ups opened up a whole new ball game for decyphering and transcribing.
You are right, we've been looking for a copy of the material that was cut as well. Eddy Fukano's album was Eastside West. Also looking for Hee Haw & other tv episodes he may have been in.
The terrifically sensitive and imaginative steel player here is Bill Johnson, who passed away in March of this year. Watch how he uses the B and C pedal when he goes into the A chord on the 17th fret and also on E at the twelfth fret. A superb player. Tim.
It is my pleasure to pass on the little information I know about Marty Robbins and his longest playing pedal steel player. What has always astonishes me is that not very many pedal steel players ever seem to acknowledge the tremendous input Bill Johnson gave on the Marty Robbins show. Perhaps someone knows where he went after leaving Marty's band. At any rate, it is highly instructive to watch his technique, from which I have yet a great deal to learn.

I believe there was a Japanese Country singer in the 60's called Eddie Fukano who appeared in Marty's movie 'From Nashville With Music.'
Unfortunately, his appearance was cut out of the movie for some reason.

Very wonderful Marty's singing.!!!!!
The name of this very nice steel guitar player can not be remembered now.
Then after, It's Katsuhiko Kobayashi(Catz Kobayashi) As the Japanese of taking charge of the steel guitar, it boasts of me.
Thank you, One of Marty's big fan in Japan.
