Can anybody explain to me the difference between a fry vocal and a growl or scream? I tried looking it up, no result. I'm a vocalist, and I'm interested in expanding

@Arbitorius I can do both these styles, and yes they do differ a lot. Bands that use fry:

Trivium, The Agonist, Threat signal, Machine Head. Bands that use false cord (growl or "gurglier screams"): Nile, Deicide, Despised Icon, old Killswitch Engage.

Fry screaming is basically distorted singing (like Nirvana), and then pushing the sound to create a smooth high pitched overtone. False cord is more gurgly and varies more from person to person.

@Arbitorius Search for "black metal death metal vocal tutorial" and you'll find a tutorial by the user "supershiva" where he explains first the false cord and then the fry (even though he doesn't call them false cord and fry). Hope it helps!
