Officer Ortiz died as a result of this crash. You angry internet nerds typing from a place of safety and obscurity should show a little more respect. Some motorists were inconvenienced for a few minutes while Officer Ortiz passed away.

wow, look at the southbound lanes of the 405. It must be jammed up all the way to the valley.

the most logical reason for closing the southbound lanes would be that the drivers driving southbound would be distracted by the landing helicopter and thus would probably cause accidents on the other side.
