Love the great mix of LA 80's bands in this! Also Tawney Kitaen (Whitesnakes's videos)in the cafe and Milton Berle referencing the Round and Round Ratt video. So cool with Nikki Sixx and the very young and not yet notorious Tommy Lee-as cops of all things! I hear a lot of Dokken/Lynch influence in the guitar work with a Martini solo a lot like Round and Round. I also think of the humor seen in ZZ Top/Cyndi Lauper videos with the cafe lady chasing the guys around....great 80's music!
I had an earlier version of this song that was released on a five-song EP. It had a more prominent acoustic guitar track that's almost nonexistent on this version as well as an acoustic break. This is a good track but I like the earlier version better.
The same thing is also applicable with the song You're in Trouble.
I suppose you could call it a 5 song EP since Walkin' the Dog wasn't theirs (nor Aerosmith's) but You're in Trouble (including the cover) extends the EP to a 7 track record but from what I gather, this version seems to be mainly exclusive to European imports.
The original version of You're in Trouble has less of a pop metal vibe and more of an acoustic/grunge vibe.
I grew-up in that era...I remember some kick ass parties & in my high school. Ratt was more of a "girl" group than Motley Crue (What I mean buy that is)...More girls liked RATT then the Crue "'82-'86"(my high school years) In thous years I think the Crue were rougher sounding. They both Kicked Ass in concert!!! but Motley Crue really was better.
I knew that in some video nikki and tommy appear like cops, awesome, finally today I know that is in this video, I thought that was in a video of Mötley
Umm, what? Yes, I did read their book and I did know they were friends, which is why I posted that. DUH! YOU were the one acting surprised to see them in the video. Geez.
Also, it is Heroin Diaries and NOT Heroine Diarys. If you really read the book, I would think you would be able to spell it properly.
Ha! That "farty bass line" was from the '83 EP release. I don't think most have heard that version - I was looking for it too. I can only find the re-released version from "out of the cellar", bummer.
The original "Back For More" (from Ratt EP) has an odd bass note.. everything sounds good, moving along, and then "berrrb". I'd never described it as "fartie" until 572ss1972 called it that, but it is a pretty good representation of it, haha.
I found a version online - Google search "Licorice Pizza ratt" and there's a blog with mp3 so you can give it a listen. The first is at 1:25, but close your eyes, give it a listen, you'll notice. Standard disclaimers apply.
What was Burle's connection with these hair farmers? I videos, magazines with them. He must have been someone's uncle or godfather or something, perhaps?
the best part of this video is tommy lee and nikki sixx of motley crue, motley crue is now and forever the worlds greatest rock and roll band of all time.motley crue = living legends,to all you haters scrue you cause motley crue rules the rock and roll planet.
Christ!I'd be terrified if Tommy Lee bent me over the hood of a car. That man could stretch out a rhino...lol
Seriously though, until Crue came out with Dr. Feelgood Ratt and Crue were pretty much neck and neck. They were both headlining arenas and selling lots of records.I think Crue were bad ass with T.F.F.L. and S.A.T.D...T.O.P. and Girls...were pretty lackluster albums.T.O.P. only had two songs that were any good and neither one were singles.Girls wasn't much better.Crue passed them with Dr.F
This is my favorite RATT song and I really think the "outro" or solo at the end is one of Warren's best. It's true there are thousands of VERY fast players now, but what made/makes Warren unique was/is his fluidity and rhythm while playing with intensity. This was partly because of a combined pick-hammer-on triplet technique he developed (similar to EVH's who he cites as an influence). Like Eddie, Warren has great phrasing. Good Lord people enjoy the music and cheesy video. No need to be acting like that. Go somewhere else and play those high school games. Leave this for real fans. Ratt-n-Roll or pay the toll bitches!
Same goes to you. Now go tease your hair to make it puffy, grab your cheap black imitation leather purse with tassles, headband, blue eyeshadow, knock-off Motley Crue concert shirt, skin tight spandex pants, and Elf boots and piss the hell off.
Why the nasty attitude? I stated my opinion. I listened to this stuff 20 years ago and liked it. I have since grown up, and my tastes have changed. There's no need to be such a fucking bitch just because you disagree with my comment.

Listen,Robbin was married as a cover up. It happens a lot in this business. Rod, Mick, Elton. I am not knocking Robbin. What I AM saying is that not everything is what it seems. When around 1 certain group of people acted straight. When he was around his family, who I have had the pleasure of meeting members of, he was 100% himself. Sad it had to be that way, but if you were part of this scene, you were expected to be straight. Tons of gay rock stars out there that you will never know about.
I W0NT SAY RATT WAS BETTER THAN THE CRUE, BUT THEY DAMN SURE WASNT THE CRUEs LESSER EITHER! I L0VED RATT WHITH THEIR 1st RELEASE, ROUND AND R0UND, AND STILL LOVE JAMMIN THEIR S0NGS!
Agreed. Mick could never rival Warren as a guitar player. Also, in a way, Robbin invented groove metal (on the EP) so Mick's definitely outmatched. :D
Some people would say Vince and Ste are the same but Ste wasn't as annoying plus he had more range (as can be heard on the song Givin' Yourself Away).
As a showman (visually), Tommy may have eclipsed Blotzer but Bobby was more impressive (with songs like Sweet Cheater, Body Talk, City to City and Chain Reaction).
maybe individually some members were better than those of motley crue, but crue was hands down the better band - that cant be argued. and tommy is prob one of the best drummers in rock.
Motley Crue are very good and they conveyed their live impact on records moreso than Ratt did but I always felt Ratt were more ground-breaking as a band.
Their self-titled debut EP is the first record to contain sludge metal and groove metal.
Also, the way Way Cool Jr. begins with the sound of a tap dancer and incorporates saxophones, harmonica and washboard is admirably unique.
In some ways, Ratt inspired Crue such as the opening to City to City inspiring that of T'N'T'
I kind of agree with you, but my only comment is listen to "Dr. Feelgood" if your craving "groove metal" and tell me Mick doesn't kill it on that track!
I am 16 years old and I really enjoy all this 80s hair metal, and you know what ppl i am tired of hearing all that emo shit, so why not reviving 80s.. impossible?
Hey Toledo, you obviously don't know shit about these bands neither were anyone's bitches. Matter of fact they were good friends and spanked more ass in one night than you will in your lifetime. Get a grip with the bitch thing....you're really the bitch aren't you?
Im only 21, and got turned on to this whole era by my step-cousin who totally lived for this kind of stuff. Its guys like RATT that I started to play music, sadly this kind of music isnt really in public favor amongst people in my age bracket (18-25)
hi lizzzz123, amm... I don't know if that was so. The apartment was located on Whitney and Yucca st of hollywood. White 4floor building with big parking gate. I think it's still there.
I saw him and his girlfriend often, you know Robbin was a tall guy, but his girlfriend was quite short and cute girl who had dyed black hair.
I totally agree with cvjucia3. I told people for years that MTV and co. should come up with a service that made it possible to relive the 80's for people my age (40). They couldn't or diddn't want to and now YouTube has proven the potential. They deserve every penny they got!
It's amazing! Whenever I watch these old vids, my whole age bracket(35 to 45) is watching, too! This was what teenagers used to do in the 80s, kiddies, before Reality tv and Seinfeld, and when MTV used to play just videos! YouTube is bringing back this medium. Warren DiMartini shredded on this song!
I love Ratt and adore Stephen Pearcy! Tawny was the epitome of the 80´s chick! I wanted to be HER. Of course, her life hasn´t been as sweet as her looks which will eventually fade away...
sHE WAS KNOWN FOR HER LEGS ..I RMEMBER THAT BEING MY FIRST AWARENESS OF HER AN ROBIN WAS A HUGE GUY HE WEIGHED NEARLY 230 AN OVER 300 WHEN HE DIED HE WAS 6'6 AN .. HAD BEEN USING H AGAIN AN HAD PEED ALL OVE RIN JARS AN STUFF.. JUST WEIRD AN SAD//
Ok, everybody needs a lesson on history. Robbin didn't get fired from Ratt. For anyone who does not know, Robbin was gay and a HUGE heroin addict. By the time Ratt had reconvened to tour again, Robbin was in very bad shape. So, he actually declined to hit the road unless he got better, which sadly he did not. Anyway, Stephen Pearcy is the biggest asshole I have ever met.
Hey bobbybone, are you getting a bone right now somewhere. Robbin wasn't gay. The guy had women anytime he wanted one. You probably didn't know he was married to a Playboy playmate...you're such a dumbass.
GEEZE,I should write more about that girl in the opening of the video.Nothing but trouble for those that came in here way.Tawney has major baggage around her life.
About Juan,he is still upset at what happened to his band RATT.

He was never a dick-assed poser either. I think OOTC was a great album.

Its guys like RATT that I started to play music, sadly this kind of music isnt really in public favor amongst people in my age bracket (18-25)

yea i know, its really sad how people in our age group dont know what good music is.

hi lizzzz123, amm... I don't know if that was so. The apartment was located on Whitney and Yucca st of hollywood. White 4floor building with big parking gate. I think it's still there.
I saw him and his girlfriend often, you know Robbin was a tall guy, but his girlfriend was quite short and cute girl who had dyed black hair.
excuse me for my poor english :p

robbin wasn't a gay, I can cearly say this..
I lived in same apartment building which he lived. but I admit he was a heroin addict.
He sold his guitar to the pown shop in melrose and seemed like he gave up on music...
I bet he suffered with his depression.
last time I saw him was 1995, he was with his girlfriend and his love dog rosie(I believe that was a balck lab)

Great song and great video! This was forgotten for so long! It should be aired again these days because RATT deserves a second chance to be heard!

I totally agree with cvjucia3. I told people for years that MTV and co. should come up with a service that made it possible to relive the 80's for people my age (40). They couldn't or diddn't want to and now YouTube has proven the potential. They deserve every penny they got!
ericverweij 5 years ago
It's amazing! Whenever I watch these old vids, my whole age bracket(35 to 45) is watching, too! This was what teenagers used to do in the 80s, kiddies, before Reality tv and Seinfeld, and when MTV used to play just videos! YouTube is bringing back this medium. Warren DiMartini shredded on this song!

I love Ratt and adore Stephen Pearcy! Tawny was the epitome of the 80´s chick! I wanted to be HER. Of course, her life hasn´t been as sweet as her looks which will eventually fade away...

Anyway, Stephen Pearcy is the biggest asshole I have ever met.
bobbybone71 5 years ago
Hey bobbybone, are you getting a bone right now somewhere. Robbin wasn't gay. The guy had women anytime he wanted one. You probably didn't know he was married to a Playboy playmate...you're such a dumbass.

ratt kick ass in the 80s, they were one of my favorite bands back then one of a kind, robin gone but never forgoton, he was so good looking too

GEEZE,I should write more about that girl in the opening of the video.Nothing but trouble for those that came in here way.Tawney has major baggage around her life.
About Juan,he is still upset at what happened to his band RATT.

Marshall is as well in the 'Wanted man' video.

Marshall Berle is the nephew.
So Milton Berle has now become the uncle.
He convinced Milton to play two roles in the video.

Ratt were the best band to come out of L.A. at that time.Crosby had the talent to write songs and got the boot in the end.
A great song with a memorable video with television comedian Milton Beryl(on the motorbike) who was related to their manager.
electricland 5 years ago
What was their manager called?

Coincidentally it was Nikki who got Robyn into heroin.
