I lived with Ray in MTL in the early 80's and was there at all those gigs in the middle of the winter when there would be 6 people in the crowd. And he gave it his ALL EVERY TIME! The crowds got larger,Ray contined to grow and the rest is history. It's now 2011 and not a day goes by that i don't think of him.A real one of a kinder!Love you brother,Iansane.
So great (& bittersweet) to see this: Ray made 80s Montreal a much more rockin' place! I believe he was born in the Ottawa Valley; played bass in a new-wave band in Van round about the turn of the 70s/80s, then came to Montréal & formed the Hard Rock Goners. They put out several great albums & were barn-burning live, but eventually Ray headed west again (along with Clive Jackson who's playing bass in this vid, and fiddler Edgar Bridwell) where he formed the Ricochets (which I believe this is)
I just asked my wife if she remembered seeing Ray at Station 10 in the early '80's; thank God it was her and not my first wife! Wildest show I ever saw; never saw the likes of him again.
Ray Condo passed away in April 2004 of a heart attack.
I was out in Victoria, BC in 2001 and Ray was playing there in a pub. I spent the whole night drinking and enjoying his music. It was one of the best shows I have ever attended.
Rest in Peace Ray and thank you for your music. I will always enjoy it.
i was lucky enough to move to cowtown columbus ohio in 1995 and then was adopted by a local rockabilly band whore to pour wiskey down the bass player's throat. they sent me to ray condo, big sandy, paul burleson, wanda jackson, ronnie dawson, the belmont playoboys and many, many more
How did Ray Condo die? With HONOR,,, actually, the whole world died, and he's the only one left, in another zone. He made everyone else look dead, didn't he? Ray Condo POR VIDA

Ray is the real thing - an original. And that guitar player rules - chicken pickin' swing served Texas style.
