@TimeGents Glad you had a great time. Am actually here in Bangkok for a couple of days, again. Yes, the food in Thailand is quite safe, provided you avoid the obviously fly-laden stuff sitting in the heat for hours. Thai cuisine in general is spectacular and cheap.
@umarket Fortunately, most of the food stalls I encountered were quite sound. I wonder how it must be in the neighbouring countries, which I did not get a chance to visit. Next time I go to South-East Asia, I will try to take a few months to travel in the entire region.
@TimeGents We can tell you from experience that eating on the street in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia were all relatively safe and sound. At least we never got sick in all our time there. Check out the food category on Uncornered Market, our website, we tend to cover Southeast Asian food pretty heavily, especially street food. There's also a bunch of photo essays in our photo gallery to show how diverse the food is. Mmmm, Southeast Asia.
i miss the ice cream truck music!!! every since i in singapore right now but going back soon when my school hoilday start i miss it so much when i am in changimai the ice cream truck will always visit each of the house and will alway drive past whenever i hear i would rush and stop it and i was thinking of spending only 50B for 2-3 Ice cream but end up buy 10 -.-lll haha

Thai street food is unhygienic(they leave the meat or sea food open air without cover sometimes you can see flies flying around) I got bad stomach most of the time if I eat the street food. Thai food add too much MSG, salt and oil,Thai cakes, coffee, tea are too sweet! More healthier Thai food is Thai salad, like papaya salad, spicy grilled pork salad etc.. they are really delicious! This is mine and my husband's personal opinion about Thai food!
Wow, that's too bad. I'm surprised. I heard that Thais often use a lot of preservatives. We ate extensively on the street and stayed pretty healthy. That said, we didn't eat a lot of sweets (though mango and sticky rice and roti were favorites) and stayed away from deep fried bits. The salads and greens are definitely the way to go to balance some of the fat. If you visit our website uncorneredmarket - we wrote a lot about Thai food, particularly in Krabi, where it was terrific.
Intelligent? ummm... your mean all the good comments is intelligent but all the negative comments is unintelligent? LOL By the way what do you think of Thai food? all of them healthy? not too sweet? I am half Thai but for me Thai food can be very unhealthy. Of course every country have unhealthy food but now we are talking about Thai food. My friends from Europe told me Thai food street food is very oily and also they got bad stomach after eating street food in Thailand, so are they all idiots?
Yes, your friends are all idiots if they complain about Thai food being oily and unhealthy. I'm quite sure most Thai food is more healthy than the crap they eat in their own country.
Tata996... I am sure Thai food can be healthy but Thai food street aren't so healthy because they normally use cheaper ingredients for cooking. I've been to good Thai restaurants and street stalls I felt proper restaurant served much healthier and hygienic food . Thai street food can be very delicious but for many foreigners that not use to street food they can get bad stomach. Also not every one like Thai food because there are many delicious cuisines apart from Thai food
No insult, Sharon, but you don't really understand why people get sick from street food. And btw, The ingredients are cheaper because they are naturally found in TH.
You should stop saying "bad stomach", btw. It is too vague of a description and shows people you don't know what you're talking about. Read up on food-borne sicknesses on the net and you will understand. Take care!
Although traditional Asian cuisine had often used seaweed extract, which contains high concentrations of glutamic acid, MSG was not isolated until 1907 by Kikunae Ikeda.
what is your point? are you trying to tell people that Thai street food is clean and healthy? you disagree that street food is unhygienic? colouring is natural in thailand? lol naturally came from plants? MSG is bad for your health. i am singaporean i never called my food court's food healthy. yes there are some but many of them aren't healthy though.
Maybe you should read things completely. I never stated or suggested that street food is hygenic. There are different levels of hygeine in either restaurant or food stall... I have only gotten sick once from eating street food and I've eaten it probably 40 times total. You have to be smarter and know which vendors to eat from.
And, yes- coloring often comes from plants.
MSG is not bad, in moderation.
Nothing personal, but educate yourself on a subject before spewing misinformation.
Ah ok you are the smartest , you are cool! is that ok? I can't be bothered to argue with something is not ever important I have too much to do, I prefer to speak to my friends and having laugh. I find time never enough to me, too much to do in my life. I wish I have enough time just you do... I joined youtube for about a year now I only manage to watched over 200 videos but you... over 50 thousand videos in about 1 year I amazed! Keep going mate have a nice life LOL
@sharonscw You do realize that being TOO clean is making people sick? People are not being exposed to enough germs so they are losing immunity to them. If you lived in a sterile environment all your life, a single cold germ can kill you if you leave it. That's why people get sick from eating Thai street food, because they've lost immunity to bacteria that normally wouldn't cause serious harm in people. It really has little to do with the food being unhygienic.
@Tata996 you crack me up. You make us seem like spoiled little whinging westerners. Here's my opinion on the matter. i think Thai food is healthy in general, they eat more vegetables then meat unlike westerners. Yes MSG gives me headache because my body can't tolerate it as i eat too little of it. have to respect peoples wishes staying cautious due to hygiene but me? the food looks so good i wouldnt care if i risk getting the runz haha am i being stupid because im not completely on your side?
yes i think you are confuse, Thai ppl don't eat dogs you silly, that's chinese. But lol why don't we have this in the states? I live in Utah and everything is dead after 9pm :'(
The dog in tonight's curry reference was a joke. I know that the northern Vietnamese eat dog (there's actually a street full of dogmeat restaurants in Hanoi). The Chinese do too. China is where we are traveling now, so maybe we can confirm our suspicions.
I wish there was more street food and late night eating in the States, too. Someday maybe.
Our website is at uncorneredmarket dot com. You can check out more of our food stories there, if you like.
Thais don't eat dog meat? It's just less widespread here than some other parts of Asia. While many Thais would never think of it, Sakonakon in the northeast is famous for a market specializing in dog meat. I know tons of people who have eaten dog meat too. I've even been told that I ate it once (when I thought I was eating cow meat), but I'll never know for sure. It's called "neua sawan," or "heavenly beef."
who the fuck cares who eat dog? first of all its a cultural thing. second of all, a dog is a animal and any other animal like cow, lamb or pig is a n animal. we eat animals. who the fuck give a shit, just enjoy the video.

The street food is mainly in the Banglamphu neighborhood of Bangkok, not far from Khao San road, but distinctly different than Khao San.
The store is on Chakrapong Rd., I believe.
There's more information on our website (uncorneredmarket) regarding Bangkok food.

maybe coz every muthr fukr has a gun and you have 10,000 murders every year by guns alone. this might be why the streets are dead after 9pm
