I'LL HAVE YOU ALL KNOW,THAT MR. THOMAS DOOLEY ESCAPED, MOVED TO ARGENTINA, SHARPENED UP HIS KNIFE, WENT TO WORK FOR THE MAFIA, AND KILLED JFK IN 1963. HE NOW LIVES IN ARKANSAS. I HAVE PROOF, I MET HIM JUST THE OTHER DAY!
I first heard the kingston trio version. I must say I like this version better, its catchier, and the female harmonies in the background and the faster tempo is much more pleasing.
i know this is kind of random but they were singing this song in the beginning of the original Friday the 13th... if any one remembers.... anyways GREAT SONG!!
my uncle thought me this song on the piano. i never played the piano, but i can play this song with my eyes closed and it allways reminds me of him...
hahah!! love it!! lolololo.,..:)

Try listening to the version with Four Jacks.
I think that's the best of them all.

Poor Dooley, you've been framed, it was probably Glenn Beck.....

The true story is pretty nasty. Dooley's quoted as saying,
"I will not attest to having killed her, but if I had it would have been been on account of her having infected me with syphilis."

Yes, its good, but it just isn't The Kingston Trio. . . The Kingston Trio, in my humble opinion, make this song truly great.

Suomessa kovin unohdettu jo tämä kappale, jota kyllä laulettiin kauan sitten Suomessakin. Murheellinen tarina, vaikka kappaleena kauniskin.

I hope you know it's spelt Dula not Dooley. The "a" is pronounced like a "y" it's an Apalachin accent.
Sivos909 3 years ago 2
Hmm he was called Tom Dooley, but his real name was Thomas C. Dula..?
nedsmons 3 years ago
Yeah, but Dula is pronounced the same as Dooley. Like I said, the "a" in Dula sounds like a "y".
Sivos909 3 years ago
Yeah yeah, if you saw my question marks I didn't marked it with a... What ever you call it : "!" .. So I didn't ment it to be a " thats how it is!"
But a " Okay but is.." ;)

haha i love this song :D
