To add some detail, using that company with it's 18m revenue. Going by a 7% profit as it is, that's $1,260,000 going wherever the CEO likes. He'll still have 720k in profits if he loses that 540k.
But consider this: If people on the bottom have more money, they'll likely circulate it more often, and use the company's products/services more often. Thus revenue goes up.

We all know the magical 250k mark. Let's take a company that gets 249,000 dollars. Under Obama's plan (simple version), it would have $151,890 after taxes. Then this imaginary company grows to 251,000 in revenue. It now has more taxes. But after taxes, it's still making $160,640.
This is neither robbery nor punishment of success. You still get more money if you earn more.

The fact that the amount of effort you put in is NOT directly proportional to how much you earn defeats that argument, and you just admitted that. Many people work 60+ hour weeks on two jobs, and still struggle just to pay the rent and food. Obviously, working harder doesn't give you more money.
First off, that already happens. There are programs to give things to people who are homeless and jobless.
Second, if you have $0 paycheck, you pay $0 in taxes, and under Obama you still pay $0 in taxes. So you don't get any extra money, nor can you just live off the government like so many people say.

Actually I know someone very well who is the Executive Director of a large organization, so I understand all of the issues related to running something that large. First of all he never actually graduated from college until after he was doing this kind of work (though that is harder to do today), he has political issues constantly, and has to deal with less and less funding. I know what leaders have to deal with.
But why are you even saying that anyway? When did I ever say leaders didn't work hard? All I said was that people making 25,000 a year work just as hard, often more hours, and put just as much energy into their work as a CEO does in his. They're different areas and different troubles, but each does the same. However, the CEO makes 350,000 while the other guy makes 25,000. Obviously, simply working harder does not give you more money, and the ability to become successful goes beyond just working.

People are not guaranteed equal opportunity. Women get paid less than men, those who have less money have significantly less means to earn more money. I am going to school and I plan to go to college, but I have the money behind me to do so. I know people who, if they did at the same level I did in school, likely with more effort, it would be for naught because I'm not getting a big scholarship, and they can't pay for college. They worked HARDER than I did, and are still going to be worse off.
Sounds like something you read on the internet or heard on MSNBC. No hard work alone will not work. Hard work and ambition is what works. Also there are always ways to pay for college. Those that want it bad enough find ways(my sister used GI bill and student loans).

Plenty of people have the hard work, plenty of people have the ambition. But it DOES NOT work in many cases. If it did work, why is there still poverty? I have met these people and they don't lack ambition, nor are they lazy. Poverty traps are some of the worst things imaginable. How do you get something when you have almost nothing? How do you get any farther when your best effort still only just covers it?
Also there are different grades of work. You would not say a man who designed a new turbine engine should be paid as much as overnight manager at dollar general would you? And also most people in this country are living beyond their means(credit cards, cloths, video games, cars, you name it). That has a lot to do with people "struggling" I am sorry but social engendering does not work. The housing crisis is a chef example.
Not everyone is capable of designing a new engine. Often people who have to work low jobs do so because they didn't have the money for college, so they can't get a better job, and growing up in poorer areas is incredibly stressful and limiting. Many schools systems expect students to have resources such as computers and internet at home, despite the fact that they don't.
People are struggling because, despite their work, they can't get more money. The "American Dream" that's always talked about being violated by this new taxes.. Well I don't see where these people are failing. They're working hard, but they simply cannot make enough to pull themselves out, let alone their children.
The point I'm trying to make is that hard work DOES NOT dictate your income, many other factors do, and it is unfair to say to someone in poverty that it's their own fault. It's not.

as for factory closing and layoffs...all preparation for the recession and barack combination...which like FDR, will exacerbate and extend that recession, quite possibly into a recession if he does what he says he will do. maybe he will turn conservative and play it smart...but i would not hold your breath. he will cause an underground economy to emerge as small business owners struggle to stay alive.

Ron Paul is not a wacko- he's simply a libertarian. I don't agree with him on everything, but libertarians are true fiscal conservatives- look up their platform. The old marginal tax rate was 70%, from Carter and before.
Under the 70% tax, we were taking in ~$500 billion dollars per year.
Under the 28% tax, we were taking in ~$950 billion dollars per year.

Capitalism doesn't allow the working or poor class to improve their status. Under capitalism there will always be a middle class. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

It's up to individuals to earn their wealth on their own legally without interference from the government. If I took $100 from you and gave it to a relative in need, it's still robbery. I dont think anyone is buying the McCain and republican negative ads any more, its been going on since 2004, it just makes him look like a crying child.

The company I work for employs 230 full and part time people and generates $18 million a year in rvenue. 3% of that is $540,000. How many workers will lose their jobs to compensate for that extra $540,000 in taxes? At $27,000/year, basic math says 20. They cry when jobs go oversees seeking lower taxes, yet scream for raised corporate taxes here. People who think added corporate taxes will create more jobs live in a fantasy world.

Shows how much you know. Most companies have a capital profit of less than 10% when all taxes and expenses are subtracted. The oil companies profits everyone complains about are 7-9%. Of course when you are supplying billions of gallons of gas to SUV owners, you're profits will be in the billions also. If you think wealth should be redistributed then you go give 1/3 of your paycheck to the homeless guy on the street.Lead by example. Its amazing how socialists want to spend everyone else's money.

To add some detail, using that company with it's 18m revenue. Going by a 7% profit as it is, that's $1,260,000 going wherever the CEO likes. He'll still have 720k in profits if he loses that 540k.
But consider this: If people on the bottom have more money, they'll likely circulate it more often, and use the company's products/services more often. Thus revenue goes up.
You give to the people below you and they will give back.

First let me point out how you never actually responded to my argument. But I'll put that aside and respond to yours.
We all know the magical 250k mark. Let's take a company that gets 249,000 dollars. Under Obama's plan (simple version), it would have $151,890 after taxes. Then this imaginary company grows to 251,000 in revenue. It now has more taxes. But after taxes, it's still making $160,640.
This is neither robbery nor punishment of success. You still get more money if you earn more.

He's increasing taxes for wealthy people and decreasing taxes for middle class people to compensate. The excess money (if any is generated) goes to the government.
Saying people who "can't" compete is complete hypocrisy. You can't talk about how everyone works hard and people who make a lot of money work hard for it, then turn around and say some people can't compete. You're basically saying "If you have a lot of money, you work hard. If not, you're SOL"

The fact that the amount of effort you put in is NOT directly proportional to how much you earn defeats that argument, and you just admitted that. Many people work 60+ hour weeks on two jobs, and still struggle just to pay the rent and food. Obviously, working harder doesn't give you more money.

First off, that already happens. There are programs to give things to people who are homeless and jobless.
Second, if you have $0 paycheck, you pay $0 in taxes, and under Obama you still pay $0 in taxes. So you don't get any extra money, nor can you just live off the government like so many people say.

That is your own bias talking. Hardly everyone works hard. Just because a job doesn't involve breaking rocks and working in salt mines 90 hours a week doesn't mean there isn't hard work. Those jobs require a lot of schooling that takes work and discipline that isn't easy to achieve(look at the rates of college drop outs). Second the time away from your family are endless and the amounts of BS those people have to deal with in the corp world are at a level few people understand.

Actually I know someone very well who is the Executive Director of a large organization, so I understand all of the issues related to running something that large. First of all he never actually graduated from college until after he was doing this kind of work (though that is harder to do today), he has political issues constantly, and has to deal with less and less funding. I know what leaders have to deal with.

But why are you even saying that anyway? When did I ever say leaders didn't work hard? All I said was that people making 25,000 a year work just as hard, often more hours, and put just as much energy into their work as a CEO does in his. They're different areas and different troubles, but each does the same. However, the CEO makes 350,000 while the other guy makes 25,000. Obviously, simply working harder does not give you more money, and the ability to become successful goes beyond just working.

People are not guaranteed equal opportunity. Women get paid less than men, those who have less money have significantly less means to earn more money. I am going to school and I plan to go to college, but I have the money behind me to do so. I know people who, if they did at the same level I did in school, likely with more effort, it would be for naught because I'm not getting a big scholarship, and they can't pay for college. They worked HARDER than I did, and are still going to be worse off.

Plenty of people have the hard work, plenty of people have the ambition. But it DOES NOT work in many cases. If it did work, why is there still poverty? I have met these people and they don't lack ambition, nor are they lazy. Poverty traps are some of the worst things imaginable. How do you get something when you have almost nothing? How do you get any farther when your best effort still only just covers it?

Also there are different grades of work. You would not say a man who designed a new turbine engine should be paid as much as overnight manager at dollar general would you? And also most people in this country are living beyond their means(credit cards, cloths, video games, cars, you name it). That has a lot to do with people "struggling" I am sorry but social engendering does not work. The housing crisis is a chef example.

Not everyone is capable of designing a new engine. Often people who have to work low jobs do so because they didn't have the money for college, so they can't get a better job, and growing up in poorer areas is incredibly stressful and limiting. Many schools systems expect students to have resources such as computers and internet at home, despite the fact that they don't.

People are struggling because, despite their work, they can't get more money. The "American Dream" that's always talked about being violated by this new taxes.. Well I don't see where these people are failing. They're working hard, but they simply cannot make enough to pull themselves out, let alone their children.
The point I'm trying to make is that hard work DOES NOT dictate your income, many other factors do, and it is unfair to say to someone in poverty that it's their own fault. It's not.

When the income tax first started happening, it was a progressive tax rate, with 1% for the lowest earners and 6% for the highest. It has always been a progressive rate.

In 1920, when a very steep progressive rate was put in for the first time, federal revenue quintupled, and the economy boomed. Other times throughout history, when the rate got steeper, federal revenue rose and the economy was stronger.
Under Bill Clinton the economy exploded. The rates Obama plans to use are almost the same as the ones Clinton did. Don't give me any shit about the dotcom bust, the stock market and other factors were still much larger after Clinton than they were before.

He never actually said that's where the excess money is going. In fact, I'm pretty sure the revenue for the next year or two is going towards fixing the economy, cause that's a much bigger issue.
As for people not being able to pay their paychecks because of the taxes, his taxes are the same as Clinton's, and during those 8 years nobody had a problem. The new taxes aren't going to force layoffs. In fact, if a company did lay off people in response, it'd only hurt them as they had less workforce

Reagan had tax cuts but he also redistributed money away from the higher class as well. Even Teddy Roosevelt believed the higher class needed to pay higher taxes.If your a small buisness that makes 30,000a year, chances are.you need to work harder and not have that many employees any way,the owner is smarter than thatWe cant have injured people checking into hospitals day and night and leaving themselves in debt for 10 years.Not to mention they'll be out of work for several days and months.

why would a company that is having increased cost from tax increases imposed by obama want to add to cost by hiring people (they will lay people off), and even further hire Americans, which create a greater labor cost than moving to foreign work force? obama's view of redistribution of wealth is not sanctioned by the Constitution, but he thinks it should (2001 audio about Warren court). also, he wants continued gov't expansion beyond limits of constitution. unconstitutional and unacceptable.

Corporations do not actually pay taxes. They collect them from their customers in the form of prices for their goods and services, and then pass them to the government. If you increase the taxes on corporations, they will pass that on to you in the form of increased prices, so you, the individual tax payer, will ultimately be paying those increased taxes. Smart way to hide a tax increase, and make it sound like you are 'socking it to the fat cats'.

Ron Paul is not a wacko- he's simply a libertarian. I don't agree with him on everything, but libertarians are true fiscal conservatives- look up their platform. I think he makes good points on the Federal Reserve for example and how it's lame that they charge us interest on every dollar in circulation. Also, his foreign policy ideas are more intelligent. He also cut taxes, but then to curb deficits made the biggest tax increase in peacetime history the next year- look it up revisionists.
