Can anyone tell me what movie this is from? I just remember a man playing this on the piano at the end of a film. I think he was on a truck or something. It's bothering me so much because I have no idea where this is from.
@cattitta0087 It's a reference to the drole de guere 1939-40 when the French were preparing for the Germans to attack. for nearly 6 months they continuously fired shells for no reason at all. The ineffectiveness of this was the butt of loads of jokes at this time. Maurice Chevalier does lots of songs about it as well. The boum in this case is a play on the french word for party and the noise of the artillery.
@littlebitbritish - This song appeared in the 1938 film "La Route Enchantée", sung by Trenet himself, a full year before the War started. Perhaps the Germans were goaded into an invasion by unwanted French shells whistling into the Fatherland and blowing their stupid hats off?
Hahahaa this song was in an ad of my country and i loved the song xD i laugh to death when i listen this just for the sound cause i havent got an idea what the lyrics says x)
I know it's french ! but it's very similar to milanese ! whatch a couple of my videos in Milanese , and you will hear it yourself ! french and milanese are similar ! istess !
@Meneghino87 Forgive my ignorance, but is there a difference between Italiano and Milanese? Or is Milanese simply a very distinctive dialect of Italiano?
@VenomStryker I know it's French, I speak it. But somebody was saying earlier it sounds like Milanese, and I was curious - it sounded like they were saying Milanese is different to Italian.
HERE YA - I can't listen to this and not have a big-ass smile on my face. First heard in "LET SLEEPING DOGS LAY" -- at 2:30am during closing credits, I sat up,threw the cat off my lap and ..........Trenet is good-the is ggrrrrreeeeaaaaat!
Thanks for posting the wordings, though at the end it is written "le notre fait..." where I hear "je n'entends que..." and "s'en mettre sur..." where I hear "ca fait toujours...". I heard it also first in Toto le héros, and for some reason that movie made me cry.
Excellent video edit with the lyrics. The sync was perfect with the words. I love this song. The French make really good songs. I think Trenet is probably one of the best!
This song was on a commercial/advert on television in the UK, and it was about people's health, like for our hearts and circulation.
I love the French language and Charles Trenet singing this song makes the words roll along easily with his French accent.
I am so happy I can speak and understand French and also happy that I stuck with it since secondary school and languages have since become a fave subject of mine. Dazza :)
Here in Italy this song is on an ad on TV for a a brand making sugar free biscuits...you see gigantic biscuits flying while some people're running trying to hug them.
In English it would be something like: "The pendulum makes tic tac tic tic/The birds of the lake pic pac pic pic/Glou glou glou make all the turkeys/And the nice bell ding dang dong/But Boum!/When our heart makes Boum/Everything within it says boum/And it's the love that wakes up.
it good in it i don't speak french myself but am learning my mates a english teacher in france and he told me it is difficult to sing even if your french though it probably would help
