A Harvard Study that came out after this video calculated that 44,000 Americans per year die of lack of Health Insurance. So Fleetwood's numbers are low.
You are either a moron or a Right Winger working for the profit Health Insurer terrorists, BellyButtonQiz.
BellyButtonQuiz--mopsius did not forget what, in your jejune and moronic comments, which are completely contrary to known data, you said nothing that would necessarily be construed to the effect that you were a racist too, as well as being stupid.
You resolve that now.
You would not bring up racist unless you were, would you?
I didn't bring it up. CNN and Carter and MSNBC all brought it up and MSNBC and CNN keep bringing it up and teaching you all to say "those tea party ignorant racist hicks" and I'm just telling you all that I'm sick of it and it's very very very very very very stupid and very very very very very very very untrue.
"I must begin by sketching briefly the principal difference between the New Left and the Old Left. The New Left is, with some exceptions, Neo-Marxist rather than Marxist in the orthodox sense; it is strongly influenced by what is called Maoism, and by the revolutionary movements in the Third World. Moreover, the New Left includes neo-anarchist tendencies, and it is characterized by a deep mistrust of the old leftist parties and their ideology. "
And the New Left is, again with exceptions, not bound to the old working class as the sole revolutionary agent. The New Left itself cannot be defined in terms of class, consisting as it does of intellectuals, of groups from the civil rights movement, and of youth groups, especially the most radical elements of youth, including those who at first glance do not appear political at all, namely the hippies, to whom I shall return later. "
"It is very interesting that this movement has as spokesmen not traditional politicians but rather such suspect figures as poets, writers, and intellectuals. "
"If you reflect on this short sketch, you will admit that this circumstance is a real nightmare for old Marxists. You have here an opposition that obviously has nothing to do with the classical revolutionary force: a nightmare, but one that corresponds to reality."
"I believe that this completely unorthodox constellation of the opposition is a true reflection of an authoritarian-democratic achieving society, of one-dimensional society as I have tried to describe it , whose chief characteristic is the integration of the dominated class on a very material and very real basis, namely on the basis of controlled and satisfied needs that in turn reproduce monopoly capitalism a controlled and repressed consciousness."
@mopsius You said that I originally brought up "competition". I only spoke of competition in response to your FOURTH statement suggesting faith in competition was my primary reason for favoring capitalism.
Perhaps the idea that I had "endless faith in competition" came not from what I said, but from your delusional projection of false attributes onto my character.
How can I originally bring up competition when you mention it four times prior?
From this you derive a grand idea of metapolitics bringing about the implosion of capitalism by its "required cognitive dissonance. You are projecting beliefs into some of your opposition which were never expressed and inventing ways to deal with them based on attributes they do not have.
To say that this meta-context is Society...is to hypostatize the whole over and above the parts. But this hypostatization takes place in reality, is the reality, and the analysis can overcome it only by recognizing it and comprehending its scope and its causes. Society is indeed the whole which exercises its independent power over the individuals, and Society is no unidentifiable "ghost".
It has its empirical hardcore in the system of institutions, which are the established and frozen relationships among men. Abstraction from it falsifies the measurements, interrogations, and calculations--but falsifies them in a dimension which does not appear in the measurements, interrogations, and calculations, and which therefore does not conflict with them and does not disturb them. They retain their exactness, and are mystifying in their very exactness.
And they say we teabaggers are the violent extremist ones.
Such vulgarity.
WE CAN'T AFFORD THE PROGRAMS WE HAVE NOW! Let alone anything else.
The progressives used to sound so fuzzy and warm when they knew they were going to get what they wanted. Now look at them. They've resorted to straight vulgarity and no substance.
Marxist Van Jones, Propaganda Suggesters Yosi Sergant and Buffy Wicks, and Maoist Anita Dunn are all out and ACORN is on it's way.
You use "profit" as a magic word that means "good".
Either present a serious economic definition of profit, including the parallel accounting definition, or shove your pollyanna word magic up your fucking very, very dumb ass.
The Finance Capitalists have at least three different definitions of profit and skin you dumbasses in the ambiguity between them.
And that so even if you, malpenguin, think you are some sort of capitalist.
Anyone that has to revert to slang and profanity to make their point is obviously too emotional to actually have an intelligent debate. I believe your knowledge of the world has been skewed because of those emotions.
Since you are so clearly more intelligent than I, why don't you enlighten me.
What is it then that motivates businesses to stay in business and to create new products. What is it that motivates scientists to discover new cures. What is it that motivates the inventor to innovate and produce new technology?
All I have to say to this is wow. I guess anyone with an opinion that interferes with your own uses some kind of binary thought?
Without loss or risk, you wouldn't have profit.
Competition can be done with cooperation.
A truly free market does not need planning. It accurately reacts to supply and demand and sets a balanced price on all goods and services. Not saying planning is bad.
What is good for the individual is good for the collective.
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." - Winston Churchill
I know you'll come up with some witty way to tear down this great man too just so that you can be right.
How is it that liberals are against war and killing, but yet they are totally for killing a 12 week fetal human by sucking it through a centimeter tube, and THEN since the head is too big and bony, they crush it with tongs.
I'm not the one wasting my time repeating everything someone just said and just laughing.
ADHD? Egotistical? What is your problem? Obviously young and foolish. Probably got voted most annoying or obnoxious, went to/are in college, got brainwashed into thinking one way, you're right all the time, better than everyone, you preach collectivism but you know you're selfish, and you wonder why anyone would willingly live in rural areas where it's just too stinky for you.
Power and corruption led to the enslavement of African Americans and killing of Native Americans.
This exploitation was a tragedy that can't be overstated and a black mark in our nation's history. It is also a human tendency and just as extreme or greater examples of it can be seen across the world. Only a person who is ignorant of goings on in China or Soviet Russia would declare the United States "The Great Satan" as you have.
There are many examples of US misuse of power. However, the US is not the great purveyor of war and violence in the world and it is insane to think so.
There we agree but in that you fail to see an economic system--Capitalism--as the root cause.
Your jingo ignores widely documented facts.
The US has also been racist, genocidal, and Imperialist from the beginning, and still is.
That is in no way palliated by your illy argued illi quoques.
You seem to suffer from cognitive dissonance and a kind of US-centric idealism, or perhaps you are just afraid of carrying out analysis to its logical conclusions.
That is the heart of our disagreement. I agree the US has been racist, genocidal and imperialist at times. I don't view it as a necessary byproduct of capitalism, but as a product of the tendancy for power to corrupt human institutions.
Looking at the world and the nature of our own leadership, I don't think entrusting more power to a central government will reduce corruption and misuse of power. Indeed, it may invite worse circumstances than we have yet seen in this country.
Were China or the Soviet Union without racism, genocide or imperialism? Look at the purges, the treatment of ethnic minorities and the overbearing authority of the state. I'm not trying to villify these other countries, I'm just saying bad things can happen anywhere you have a great concentration of power.
You use terms loosely, as if they carry their meanings across the universe. It is a sign of how historically naive and uneducated you are.
The Chinese are not, and have not been, "racist" in the Western of European sense, except insofar as they encountered Westerners. The Han consider themselves culturally superior over many peoples of the same "race." The word "race" loses the meaning you try to impart to it applied to the Far East.
The Soviets were never "racist" at all, though some Russians have been, including the Slavophiles.
The Communists, in fact, never eliminated any ethnic minorities and their categories were not only not "racist", but actively anti-racist, including Jews.
The conflict between the Soviets and the Ukrainian nationalists was not only not racist or ethnic, it was within the context of the same closely related cultural and linguistic tradition.
In that conflict, the Ukrainian Nationalists were allied with the NAZI's, and were--and still are-tainted by a large degree of both racism and anti-Semitism.
The NAZI's for the most part did not return the favor, seeing the Ukrainians as just another group of subhuman Slavs.
Even in the Russian Federation, the attitude toward the Chechens is not officially "racist" in any Western European sense. It is the latest chapter in a long conflict. The Russians have never tried to exterminate the Chechens. Far from it. You might read Lermontov but I seriously doubt you are sensitive enough to grasp some of the undertones.
A quick summary of the major European groups that colonizedwhat is now the US might look something like this:
Dutch: racist but not imperialist.
French: imperialist but not racist
Spanish: imperialist but not racist
English: racist and imperialist
This summarizes a vast amount of historical material, all well documented, but will be lost on the white Protestant US exceptionalists, North and South.
My point is that greed and corruption lead to a misue of power, prominent examples of which can be seen in powerful capitalist and non-capitalist countries.
I don't believe elimination of competition will solve anything. It will change the type of predatory behavior manifested in the state, but will not eliminate exploitation.
@mopsius Competition is not the primary reason I would cite for my favoring a predominantly capitalist state over a socialist one. I am only talking about it because you assume I have "endless faith in competition". It is something you brought up, not me.
I searched the text of our 3 week conversation. You mention it 3 times prior to alleging I have "endless faith in competition". From there, I explained that competition was not the central reason for my favoring a predominantly capitalist economy.
You brought it up 4 times before I even began talking about it.
Actually, I could likely make a better case for "Capitalism" than you might, chthuluR7, with arguments that have not crossed your inchoate and tentative mind.
But what's in it for me?
Moreover, they would be sophistic insofar as they conformed to your various naiveties, expressed below--mainly because the supposed polarity between "free market" and "planned economy" is false.
"SHARM EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT -- Wen Jiabao, China's premier, has pledged $10 billion in new low-cost loans to Africa over the next three years and has defended his country's engagement on the continent against accusations that it is "plundering" the region's oil and minerals."
Wen made the pledge Sunday at a China-Africa summit here, at which he also urged the United States to keep its deficit to an "appropriate size" to ensure the "basic stability" of the dollar.
China is the biggest holder of U.S. government debt, and Wen's comments reinforce similar ones made in March, when he expressed concern that Washington's deficit could erode the value of China's U.S. dollar assets. "
No--mainland China is a new constellation politically, in which the old categories fail, though you know too little about Marxism to see why what you most condemn is exactly the "Capitalistic" aspect of it.
Bullshit. China is a predominantly socialist state. It is naive to focus on the capitalist elements when addressing the potential for Chinese "plundering" of other countries. If China had even more socialist policies than it already does, the inevitable greed and corruption that occur with a rise to power would be enough to initiate these events.
You are really too inexperienced, uneducated, unread, and simplistic to maintain the naive economic ideologies you promulgate as universal laws, PatchoolieR7
I certainly don't believe "structure is more important than content in transmission of information".
I certainly address every criticism that YOU hand to ME.
I certainly rely on arguments to support my statements, instead of feigned expertise and "truths" that are never fully explained but asserted to be "beyond the understanding" of the unenlightened.
You are looking for a free lunch, PatchoolieR&, while being abusive at the same time.
You think you will get magic formulas by argument and debate because you are too lazy to study and think and work and read. You already have all the answers.
You are probably the younger of several siblings in some sort of Protestant household, though there are other possibilities.
Your day, your tactics, your mappings of allowable debate are over.
You and Fleetwood are quite abusive, yourselves. People can read our comments and decide for themselves who is more abusive.
People can also decide for themselves if they want to follow an authoritarian who professes his own expertise, the indisputable ignorance of his opposition and will NEVER fully explain his views, or a person who relies only on the strength of his arguments to provide validity to his viewpoints.
This is kind of sad mopsy. Maybe you should repost that "The US is a predatory capitalist warfare state" thing you keep recycling. You know, in case anyone forgot about it.

BellyButtonQuiz--mopsius did not forget what, in your jejune and moronic comments, which are completely contrary to known data, you said nothing that would necessarily be construed to the effect that you were a racist too, as well as being stupid.
You resolve that now.
You would not bring up racist unless you were, would you?
mopsius 2 years ago
@mopsius
It would be a bit of a problem if I were racist, since I love all my family deeply, we are both black and white.
You idiot.

BellyButtonQuiz 2 years ago

BellyButtonQuiz--you brought up racism. Live with it.
Your comment that no Americans die because of lack of Health "Care" is contrary to all availalble data.
These people are of all races and colors--so it certainly did not occur to me that it was a racist statement.
My take was you were simply the typical Right Wing or Born Again moron or a flack of the for profit Health Insurers.
It has apparently occurred to you, however, that you are a racist as well.
mopsius 2 years ago
As for the rest, if you think mopsius is angry, that is your right.
As for the mob part, one's man's mob is another's revolutionary mass.
That has also apparently occurred to you on your own.
You must not be sleeping well these days, eh?

"I must begin by sketching briefly the principal difference between the New Left and the Old Left. The New Left is, with some exceptions, Neo-Marxist rather than Marxist in the orthodox sense; it is strongly influenced by what is called Maoism, and by the revolutionary movements in the Third World. Moreover, the New Left includes neo-anarchist tendencies, and it is characterized by a deep mistrust of the old leftist parties and their ideology. "
HM
mopsius 2 years ago
And the New Left is, again with exceptions, not bound to the old working class as the sole revolutionary agent. The New Left itself cannot be defined in terms of class, consisting as it does of intellectuals, of groups from the civil rights movement, and of youth groups, especially the most radical elements of youth, including those who at first glance do not appear political at all, namely the hippies, to whom I shall return later. "

The epistemology is admittedly complex but in essence Meta-politics enables one to stand outside the tent and piss in.
mopsius 2 years ago
This is perhaps your most significant video, Fleetwood.
A year of wide-ranging metapolitical videos at this level, and US Capitalism implodes under the sheer weight of its required dissonance.
mopsius 2 years ago
@mopsius You said that I originally brought up "competition". I only spoke of competition in response to your FOURTH statement suggesting faith in competition was my primary reason for favoring capitalism.
Perhaps the idea that I had "endless faith in competition" came not from what I said, but from your delusional projection of false attributes onto my character.
How can I originally bring up competition when you mention it four times prior?
cthuluR7 2 years ago
You ignored my statements and went on to talk about "cognitive dissonance" when capitalists talk about competition.
Competition is not the reason why I favor a predominantly capitalist economy. This has nothing to do with what I have said.
cthuluR7 2 years ago

You use "profit" as a magic word that means "good".
Either present a serious economic definition of profit, including the parallel accounting definition, or shove your pollyanna word magic up your fucking very, very dumb ass.

This exploitation was a tragedy that can't be overstated and a black mark in our nation's history. It is also a human tendency and just as extreme or greater examples of it can be seen across the world. You seem to suffer from cognitive dissonance and a kind of US-centric idealism, or perhaps you are just afraid of carrying out analysis to its logical conclusions.
mopsius 2 years ago

I'm not trying to villify these other countries, I'm just saying bad things can happen anywhere you have a great concentration of power.
cthuluR7 2 years ago
You use terms loosely, as if they carry their meanings across the universe. It is a sign of how historically naive and uneducated you are.
The Chinese are not, and have not been, "racist" in the Western of European sense, except insofar as they encountered Westerners. The Han consider themselves culturally superior over many peoples of the same "race." The word "race" loses the meaning you try to impart to it applied to the Far East.
mopsius 2 years ago
The Soviets were never "racist" at all, though some Russians have been, including the Slavophiles.
The Communists, in fact, never eliminated any ethnic minorities and their categories were not only not "racist", but actively anti-racist, including Jews.
mopsius 2 years ago
The conflict between the Soviets and the Ukrainian nationalists was not only not racist or ethnic, it was within the context of the same closely related cultural and linguistic tradition.
In that conflict, the Ukrainian Nationalists were allied with the NAZI's, and were--and still are-tainted by a large degree of both racism and anti-Semitism.
The NAZI's for the most part did not return the favor, seeing the Ukrainians as just another group of subhuman Slavs.
mopsius 2 years ago
Even in the Russian Federation, the attitude toward the Chechens is not officially "racist" in any Western European sense. It is the latest chapter in a long conflict. The Russians have never tried to exterminate the Chechens. Far from it. You might read Lermontov but I seriously doubt you are sensitive enough to grasp some of the undertones.
mopsius 2 years ago
A quick summary of the major European groups that colonizedwhat is now the US might look something like this:
Dutch: racist but not imperialist.
French: imperialist but not racist
Spanish: imperialist but not racist
English: racist and imperialist
This summarizes a vast amount of historical material, all well documented, but will be lost on the white Protestant US exceptionalists, North and South.

My point is that greed and corruption lead to a misue of power, prominent examples of which can be seen in powerful capitalist and non-capitalist countries.

Ah, so naturally you are a Capitalist with endless faith in competition.
Please, your British Classical Liberal Social Darwinist jujitsu is old hat and a thoroughly discredited mess.
Capitalists buy any state that is buyable. Why wound't they?
If you are seriously arguing for the profit motive as the major motive of human life, you are involved in your own vicious circle.
mopsius 2 years ago
I don't believe elimination of competition will solve anything. It will change the type of predatory behavior manifested in the state, but will not eliminate exploitation.
cthuluR7 2 years ago
Perhaps you might define "competition"--another word you use as if it carries its own obvious reference, in which you seem to "believe".
It is, incidentally, what is called a relation word, but the relation is more complex than, say, "sibling".
mopsius 2 years ago
@mopsius Perhaps YOU might define it, when you say I have "endless faith in competition."
