  • At last a song to support our home country Hurrah for St George

  • In this clip I also recognise, among others, Boscastle, Norfolk Broads, Haworth, Glastonbury Tor, the river Cam at Cambridge, Bamburgh Castle, Corfe Castle, Henley on Thames, Lake Windermere - John Constable's "Hay Wain" portrait, the Houses of Parliament at Westminster, London, a skylark in flight, Morris Dancers at Saddleworth, the Long Man - & the cast of "The Archers", the world's longest running radio serial. Yes - England will always be home to me! England - I love you dearly! My home.

  • So nice to see the old 16th century black and white timbered Market House in the High Street of LEDBURY, Herefordshire at 2:44. I see it everyday as that is where I live. I also recognise the Malvern Hills - Ledbury is situated at the southern end of the Malvern Hills, the home area of England's famous composer Sir Edward Elgar, who wrote the music to Land of Hope and Glory (Pomp & Circumstance). Ledbury was the home town of the poet John Masefield & of the poet Elizabeth Barrett-Browning.

  • a great song and I'm a proud scotsman

  • England my England how I miss and love thee

  • By George I think you've got it.

    Lovely song.

    Greetings from Mexico

I've just included it in my list of favorites

  • My home town where I live is featured among all of these clips showing the beauty of England and aspects of true English life - the scene showing a black and white timbered building in the town centre, with peole sitting on the seats alongside it as cars drive by through the town centre.....it's LEDBURY, Herefordshire - the birthplace and home area of the poets John Masefield and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The countryside around here is absolutely stunningly beautiful.

  • I am ENGLISH and proud. It is in large letters on yesterday's census form.

Have a look at One England.org

  • I love this song. Well done! Take a listen to my music if you get a mo. I write and record my own English folk music. I can't stand all that pop with no meaning to its lyrics and no real melody! I've got three songs at Youtube and several albums at Lastfm.com. Thanks again!

  • Thank You, I am far away from england and this sums up my feelings!

  • yes-my band 'willows folk' sing it. we are on facebook.Great song

  • yes-my band 'willows folk' sing it. we are on facebook.Great song!

  • @marychowen

Do you have a link please fair maiden?

  • Any chance we might have a list of the places in the order they appear?

  • love it, I want it when it is available. Thanks for this.

  • This will be a classic one day, its just brilliant 16,000 views dosnt do it justice.

Can you do a video with lyrics please?

  • @Shropshireladdie Hi. Press the blue rectangle with 'oringinally recorded by...etc ' by the down arrows and the lyrics should appear. There are a couple of other verses which I will add one day.

  • When you sing it yeah its a great song.

  • Love it, thank you. We have such a beautiful country, it's a shame that many people don't get to see it in all it's glory and travel abroad every year for their holiday instead of just now and again taking a look at what's on their doorstep.

  • @frikartii so very, very true. I have travelled all around the world and seen such great sights and places but this tiny Isle has so much to offer, from Cornwall to Norfolk, the IOW to Cumbia, Northumberland and all in between.

I cannot explain how I feel when I see the green fileds on returning from a trip but you cannot beat classic English Chalk Grass/downland.

Sometimes we are so focused on the distance we miss what beauty we have under our noses, I think it's the same for people too.

  • @noonoobaggins Spot on ! But for me you forgot the fresh air when you step out of the plane. A very special place !

  • A really beautiful song. Have you perhaps had an album recorded of your songs? If so, I would like to buy,

  • @io2bonk2 No album sorry but a remixed version of this song is under way and it will be on sale soon. Thanks for the interest, A

  • Of all the great patriotic songs I've heard I've never heard this one .. Classic, a great song and a great video. Happy St Georges Day.

  • @broadsword342 Happy St George's Day to you broadsword342 and to all who love our dear country.

  • great song remembered from the spinners days. does anyone know where i can get the music for this since i would love to play this on the mandolin.

  • @flyhippos Hi. I don't use musical notation but the song is in D major, the chords being D, G and A, A7. There may be music for the verses somewhere but I only wrote the... if ever I am far away... part 3 years ago and it seems to fit with the main melody quite well, so apart from here and in my head it is nowhere else. Good luck.

  • @postcardsoflife thanks for reply, going to give it a go may get it sorted for next st georges day !!

  • great song remember from spinners days, does anyone know where i could get hold of the music for this, would sound great played on mandolin.

  • nice song

  • very lovely pics in this vid

  • Brilliant. Brings tears to the eyes of those overseas who have everything (even space and sunshine) yet never cease to be drawn back by the spell contained in images and music such as this.

  • Thanks for your comment. I am still so happy to tour around this magic set of islands where there is always something new to discover. By the way, I have a bit of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh in me.

  • And next year I will be doing a photographic tour of this beautiful island to get the images for the new studio version which will then be released. If anyone has any requests, knowledge of vantage points, must have views etc, please post them here. A

  • This is a lovely non zenaphobic portrayal of the best nation within the best nation state (uk) in the world. I am Northern Irish of English and Northern Irish parents and this song makes me feel proud to be British, let a lone the English sentiments of this wonderful folk song

  • A beautiful song- but it also saddens me as it reminds me of how wonderful England used to be- before it was turned into a multiracial, multicultural third world shithole by the corrupt governments. WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK!

  • England has always been multi cultural. Her problems stem from biggots and the uneducated. I'll leave it at that.

  • LMAO!!!!! What planet are you traitors from?

  • well those ppl politicians, businessmen and bankers...

  • Just got a lovely PM from madtwatter88 with the charming message 'Your mother is a C**T'. Just a little reminder of who the real enemies of Engand are... racists. The English are mongrels, and frankly, I'm proud of that. And try to remember that true Englishmen died fighting against ideologies like yours. England looks on your kind and weeps. Now spread your hatred elsewhere, I have no more time for you.

  • WOW, that took me back.

    Love the song.

    Love the pics.

    Love the land.

    Long for English Independence Day.

Check out the Free England website.

    .

  • Love the tune, the concept and the pictures you use. However sorry to o my 'Simon Cowell' negative bit but to my tired old eyes it looks like 99% of the photos are slightly OUT OF FOCUS - may be just me and my 'puter in which case many apologies!

  • I did it a while ago and an updated version with super-clear pics is in the pipeline for next year. Take care, ~A

  • thanks for taking this in the spirit in which it was intended..didnt mean it to be in any way negative cos the pictures are GREAT...really look forward to seeing more of your work plus the update on this one

  • We have a beautiful Isle, such diverse countryside, I love it all, I am so lucky.

Your photo's really match the song, well done and thanks for posting and sharing

  • What a great song. It really swells my patriotic heart. England means the world to me, to me the world means England.

  • This video is great. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to speaking with you.

  • Thanks for the comment. Hopefully there will be a new one with better quality pics somewhere on the horizon. I may even add the missing verse.

  • What a shame there are those who would like to ruin all of this and through it in a metaphorical bin! Nice song, from a Cornishman too!!! No problem with England as long as people remember she starts in Plymouth and not Penzance!

    :)

  • maix1975. I've lived in Falmouth and on the Lizard and still cannot resist an annual pilgimmage! All the best - A

  • Beautiful Song .. Thanks

  • EnglandWarrior03. Germany is a really beautiful country as well, but I'm biased and adore England and the rest of Britain best of all. Good luck and best wishes.

  • Thank for the comment Richy24Richy. I wrote this song years ago so it's nice to get positive feedback all these years later.

  • I love the song fantastic thank you

  • I'm S.N.P and I just love this song, and we in the S.N.P just hate westminster but not England.

  • Thanks tamhamilton - I'm half Scottish and half Welsh but have lived in England most of my life, but now I'm in Wales (nearly moved to Bute two years ago).

  • So no cities or industry in England then? What happened to the industrial revolution, it happened in England.

  • Good point. There may well be a studio version with new footage coming out in the not too distant future and I will make certain something relevant is included. Any suggestions welcome.
