@MauDrumss weapons dont beat anything. the user does. It has been mentioned by some that if you trap a katana in the prongs, you can put yourself in a position to possibly break the swrod. I havent personally tired it so I really dont know for sure. It may be a hollywood myth. I think this really depends on the quality of your sai and the quality of your katana. A cheapy 25 dollar stainless steel katana is going to bust Allot easier then say, a cold steel 1590 carbon steel katana. Just sayin....
@MauDrumss the sai were made, as were the juti to be able to catch, trap and then snap a katana with...but his technique would probably not manage it!
A few things are surely bullshit in his technique. He keeps his fingers ON TOP of the guards (look at 0:35) - how can you protect with a block like this? A bo or a sword coming from the top will simply cut his fingers. He has no idea.
if this is supposed to be flashy, go faster, more snap, and more dynamic.
if its supposed to be a traditional Kata, your going to need to make it more believable. looks like you watched a video and put on a gi and found sais laying around and played with them. a Kata is usually a display of technique against many opponents at one time and how to fight them. just make it more powerful, stronger strikes. more snap, more speed, more emotion, it was kinda boring. 3/5
@toddDaniels to be honest a kata is not usually defence against multiple attackers,its just a way of practicing kihon,also left and right side,bunkai from the kata is different itcan be used against single or multiple attackers.Each kata has special techniques (tokui) that are not in other kata,
