So mysterious and sinister! Great playing. I've always liked "Ondine" and "Scarbo" more than this one, but I seem to appreciate it more with each listen. Very nice!
El equilibrio de los planos sonoros, la intensidad de la emocion, el dolor en frances, con cierta dulzura, la profundidad de su intencion, absolutamente maravilloso.
jickerack is totally right. plus, this suite is probably the hardest thing written for solo piano. so i'm not suprised when someone messes up playing this piece.
Wow this is astounding! I've never been drawn more into a piece before...its almost like im watching him play to himself and not an audience, such is the intense emotion. Simply amazing!
and another thing: if we all played it exactly as u say, the "scholarly way", it would all sound the same- a bunch of notes w/ no personality or feeling put into it. the music would never come alive as it does when an artist takes what is written and builds on it, makes it their own. that's what keeps it interesting. that's why it's called "making music".i'm sure the composer never intended every note to be researched.
Noone could ever play "Le Gibet" the way Pogorelich plays. Every time I hear him play this movement I totally get knocked out. This is absolutely fantastic.
I heard him play Gaspard here in Sydney many years ago. It was magical and the memory of it has lived with me since. Everything he does lives with me. Wonderful!
Interesting - he left measure 4 out and then put it back in where measure 9 should be, perhaps to make up for it. Or is it some other edition I'm not aware of? Hi, I'm a piano dork.
I' ve always liked his interpretations. This piece is especially good.

his version is much darker than other versions I've heard, but when he plays it
that's what seems to be called for-
he has extraordinary control
quite well done-

The beginning is used in Oceansize's song "Unravel"....Good name eh?
Check it out, they do a good modern version for an alternative rock band anyway.
Great composition, great player,

This comment has received too many negative votes show
well, either way he fucked up some notes in the end, and the ending is my fav. part :-(
this is gay.

Stop using "gay" as an insult. It's offensive and it makes you sound like a character from a cheap cartoon like South Park.

It's the Pogorelich edition. He's the Thelonius Monk of classical piano.
sminky97 5 years ago 3
No, he is the Pogorelich of music.

I like that! I also think he is the Nureyev of the piano!

Am I imagining this or does he completely leave out the fourth measure?
