  • Thanks fellas right now im debating fix the merc or get a excursion 7.3 power stroke

  • Gearing?

  • @91CTD 3.27l/s factory ford

  • @mazda6tuner99 light weight aero and its about 17 mpg. Lol

  • @luivillslugger the block, period. Heads are the same and a hps 5.4 intake keeps it under the hood. Go figure

  • What ells did you had 2 put beside the engine & trans

  • @luivillslugger transmisison is mostly stock from the 4.6 save for a modified valve body

  • 7.5 seconds. Is it good ?

  • I hate those digital gauges. They are always so jumpy.

  • Hmm... v10 Vic on the brain, anybody?

  • u need a spanking and an enema for swapping that engine into this pile of poop car...

  • @RoscoeComedy um how is a crown vic a piece of shit and if it is, suggest some better cars as alternitives

  • @RoscoeComedy lol no you need that for that comment ;)

  • 6 Seconds in a car like that..... Thats fast...

  • @thewhoissuperb24 they should have dropped an 03 cobra motor in them X-D

  • @xmodrock mercury marauder

  • @Leafsrule016 what about it.. i was saying that an 03 cobra motor should have been put in these and the police interceptors

  • @xmodrock i was listning an example of a mustang motor in a car factory .... and police cars are just worn out hand-me-downs, if you want a nice vic/grand marquis your better off finding a nice civilian one and doing a few things to it, any of the ex rcmp vics i see are junk you buy at dealer actions for $500 and then idiots buy/sell them for 4-5k because there 'p71s'

  • @Leafsrule016 they all have mustang motors.. as do the 2010 V8 explorers so i know that.. im saying a COBRA motor is what the P-71s should have shipped with.. meaning the supercharged 4.6L.. the 03-04 cobras came with the eaton m112 bolted on at about 8PSI making 430 HP at the crank.. SOO thats what i wanted to see.. i got my 99 cobra.. and if anything for me personally i would do a 408W stroker Fox

  • @xmodrock just because two motors share displacement doesnt mean there the same motors, thats why mustangs/explorers had the 302 high output and old panther chassied cars had the "low po", same as the mustangs and vics with 4.6's. I'm a fox guy myself personally, i got a 93 fox body, its a nice car but the motors blown so...

  • @Leafsrule016 the 2010 explorers have EXACTLY the same motor as the 05-09 mustang GT's.. the vics had essentially the same engine as the mustangs... but again i want an 03/04 COBRA motor in it.. the one with the blower and lots of horse.. and im just saying it would be cool if ford had made them that way stock.. but the fox's and the 99-04 cobras are my fav stangs right next to Elenore and the 69-70 boss stangs

  • @xmodrock I kind of gave up with trying to make my foxes handle better ... but there so light, they dont need much power to be fast. They weigh less then my 05 civic which is my daily driver, lol.

  • @Leafsrule016 i know.. its what makes them the perfect drag platform

  • Less than jake :)

  • nahh about 18

  • Sounds like a Half-life 2 jeep

  • @TmNTechnical Lol it does.

  • @TmNTechnical I absolutely agree. COULD NOT EVEN AGREE MOAR. But it sounds like hes holding spacebar for boost too =]

  • 0-70 in 8 is REAL good for suck a heavy car and what he got

    nice

  • looks like a low 6 sec 0-60!

  • how can i get a dash like this for my crown vic?

  • @unoulumve9

this is the 98-05 full optchin dash

  • @unoulumve9 actually i have that dash in my 1996 crown victoria. try a junk yard and also try lincoln town cars. They also usd to come with dashes like that

  • @DurtyDirkDiggler the Panther Body fords are all identical to each other for the most part...so a digital cluster from a Crown Vic,Marquis or Towncar should swap in with no problem....me personally i like the digital dash better than the Analog gauges myself.

  • @unoulumve9 The Digital Cluster here is Stock....the Analog and Digital clusters dont have the same wiring so a swap will be a bit of a job...but it can be done.

  • woohooo! another 8 sec 0-60 vic.

  • @mrrodneyalong 0-70* and yes 8 sec is good

  • lol im sorry your car only gets you 2 mpg

  • @lucasorcorey

Yeah, because any other car will get a good rating on an instant fuel economy measurement during hard acceleration. :-\

  • damn that sounds hella beefy

  • hey dude, where did you get those digital gauges? I have a 2007 p71, and want to put them in... only problem is separate aftermarket digital gauges are way over priced.

  • @ImbiberOfBrew the Digital Instrument Cluster right here is Stock.....i assume you have Stock Analog gauges in your crown vic...it is possible to use the Digital Instrument Cluster from a Ford Crown Vic,Mercury Grand Marquis or a Lincoln Towncar, however it's not a Plug-and-play type of swap, the harness for the digital and analog are vastly diffrent and you will need to run more wire to make the digital work, but it is possible.

  • what do u have to change to get this engine? besides the engine is it pricey

  • @toddlerlou the mounts are the same and you can change the heads to make your 4.6l a 4valve its easy if you swap out the engine but cheaper if you convert your modular engine to the 4valve,,stock it has more torque but about the same hp but the 4valve can take alot more mods and can put out more in the long run,,in other words its the same engine with different heads an such ,,if you dont mod the 4valve its about the same hp but more torque, take the 4valve and supercharge the crap out of it ,lol

  • How much did the swap for the 5.4 ltr. cost. I have a lincoln town car that I want to do that too.

  • @TheMagnovo wat year towncar do u have, i would love to follow thge build if u do it, i have a '95 towncar that i am going to build up

  • lol @ 2mpg

thats the only way to go

  • how do you have the digital dash, only car like that i had was my old 94 sable

  • @MegaSkokie I think it was more like 6... that's pretty good for an almost 5000lb car

  • @thewhoissuperb24 datz wats up dat b a monster rite dur an u rite they shuld have how fast did it get up 2 70 mph?

  • @MegaSkokie looked like about 7-8 seconds for 60mph.

  • @thewhoissuperb24 datz wats up dat b a monster rite dur an u rite they shuld have

  • science of selling yourself short-less than jake. nice background music

  • That's amazing just do not blow your head gasket or seals. It is such a great car. I wish I had one.

  • That's nice it's pretty quick I'm dropping a svt motor In my mine over the winter

  • I buy P71s from auction and I have a buddy who has a dealer ship that sells just P71s and yes they take out there chip that has no speed limiter on it and put one that does. As far as the cars that we have been dealing with...

  • @Inverted420 OMG if you know nothing about police interceptors, then DON'T SPEAK. Seriously, there is no such thing as a "Cop Chip". Research things a little better before you start speaking out of your ass...... First of all, the police interceptor DOES have a speed limiter, it's just set higher than the civilian crown vics.

  • @bthomas11986 Why don't you bite my ass.. Why would I have to research when I deal and work on them on a daily basis?

  • @Inverted420 You need to research because first of all cars haven't had chips in decades. It can be de-tuned and speed limited by tapping into the OBD system via a handheld device or laptop but no "chip" to change out. Second, there was a speed limiter on the police interceptors set at 150mph. Why? What would you think a 5000lb car, running that fast, doing evasive maneuvers is going to do to the tires, suspension, brakes? Some of the components, frankly, couldn't take it. That's a tall order.

  • @1992Formula Yes I agree with what you say you can just program the vehicle... but there is also pre programed chips.

  • @Inverted420 I'm sorry but no, that's not a feasible option on this type of vehicle. Why pay the city mechanic the labor to pull the ECM and physically replace the memcal with a different "chip"? Wouldn't it be more obvious to have a de-limiter/tuner that plugs in and job done in a matter of minutes? Multiply that times every police issued vic in your city and that would be a lot of time and money wasted. That's the way it's done here in FL and thats FACT.

  • @1992Formula

the car has a curb weight of 3,900 pounds. Also the P71's have stiffer suspension and heavy duty transmissions, breaks, lug bolts, and differentials. They could handle it, thats why the cops chose the car in the first place

  • @Inverted420 hey work at the motorpool right ?do you know it the impala interceptor trans is difrent then a regler impala because my buddys trans isnt shifting right it will go to 2nd or 3rd an stop shifting but its not slipin in any gear and i wanted to know if i could put a regular impala trant in it

  • itsacrazyasian, i need to know the name of that song, it sounds awesome

  • Not bad. Better than my Town Car can do

  • @thewhoissuperb24 There is not one "P71" on the face of the planet that came from Ford with a 5.4....All came with a the 4.6, slightly different intake and a hot chip they take out after they sell to the public, aqua colored cilicone hoses, larger radiators, fully adjustable suspensions, enlarged brakes and rims for brake cooling and dual tranny coolers.

  • @Inverted420 There is no such thing as a "hot chip" that they remove from P71's. I've driven both new and old P71's, and they are all the same.

  • 70 in 8 seconds.. okay.. why not 100 in 8 seconds lol

  • Really? Or the P71's had the exact same 4.6 as the civvy, with sharper shift points, dual exhaust, and 3.27 or 3.55 open diff or track loc. That's it, no high output mustang motor, no DOHC. Ford really failed with the motor choice in this boat. The best thing to do to these is ditch the 4.6 and drop in a 5.4 with better cams.

  • @kyleaz2000 well considering the 4.6 first went in your town cars and crown vics first then they realized there long lasting motors that are low matinance and can take abuse these are very good motors gear ratios hold them back and the 5.4 was not availabe when they started to put these motors into cop cars. by the way i know several cops and they all want there vics back

  • @dbohman09 I know all of this. Im just trying to clarify all of the misconceptions with P71's. Then ford had to go and ditch the Panther. Now there are all theses subframe unibody cars. The 5.4 and the 4.6 are the exact same motor except for a difference in deck height. The 4.6 just didnt produce enough power for it's promised fancy OHC design.

  • @dbohman09 I have some cop friends as well. The general consensus between them was the P-71 Vic and the LT-1 Caprices were the best interceptors.

  • @kyleaz2000 also if you look at 5.4 motors in crown vics the heads wont fit you have to get a differant hood and i do agree they should of either went with the 5.4 or instead of the 2 valve put a 4 valve in but neiter were options for ford when they started to put the 4.6 in the crown vics

  • @dbohman09 The heads fit just fine, it's the intake that doesnt have enough clearance, it's physically impossible to fit a 4v 5.4 in the vic's engine compartment. 281 ci just isnt enough to move a full frame heavy duty car, extremely reliable or not.

  • ...

  • @thewhoissuperb24 i have a 2003 pi 71. they have 4.6 high output mustang GT motors. and a better chip for higher RPM in the gears. Thats all. 220 HP on a 4000lb+ car. Not as fast as people think.

  • @thewhoissuperb24 For some reason I thought they had the corba motors...that's even worse...

  • @thewhoissuperb24 I thought the PI's were the 5.4 super charged?

  • the 5.4 makes the same power its just a 4.6 with a 4.1 inch stroke instead of the 3.54 in the 4.6

  • fucking awesome song

  • lol, I like the 2 MPG on the readout

  • @Shintsu2: That's probably WAY off............it is a 12-year old car after all. And besides, it was probably only programmed to work with the original engine anyway.

  • @MiracleMile90 I dunno those MPG gauges are fairly accurate if they're an average - instant ones are pretty useless though. Like in BMWs the little needle that goes from 40 mpg to the complete opposite if you floor it. I figure they're probably hooked up to the fuel system, so it just calculates how much is being used at the time. Good gas mileage this would probably not get though...

  • @Shintsu2 LOLLLOL this is mad stupid

  • @Shintsu2 heh. thats my kinda car :D

  • @Shintsu2 No, thats how many gallons of gas he just used!!! LMAO

  • @Shintsu2

Bout what these things do to begin with lmao. I get about 12mpg on average.

  • @Shintsu2 in my buddys 03 impala swapped with a supercharged 3800 series 2 if hes cruisin it say 20 when he floors it it says 0

  • hahahaha u changed the transmission and u got some other speed sensor! that hapened to my thunderbird turbo coupe i got a manual 5 spd from a v8 mustang and on the road the speeometer reads im over 80 miles while im really goin like 50 o 40

  • 0 to 60 in 6 seconds.. nice.

  • @18CRS Actually, it was eight seconds.

  • @TheArmydude050290 Eight seconds into the vid but he didnt start accelerating right away. I'd say six is pretty close.

  • @slowestever yeah went through and timed it. He started acceleration 2 seconds in and reached 60 at 9 in. So he snapped it in 7 sec. A damn impressive 0-60 for a damn sedan.

  • my car has a high performance 400 cid 6.6 L v8 in it

  • holy shit!

  • why does everyone feel the need to put some type of music when flooring a car?

  • @pklisz i Usually turn the music off when im driving "enthuastically" that and the air conditioning :)

  • @pklisz it always gave me a sence of speed even more haha

  • my 3.8 v6 endeavor can outrun it :p

  • @leabuelo i bet you that once his crown vic gets over about 60mph he will destroy you

  • @greendaysaint8302 umm idk about that

maybe when we both get over 90-100mph

  • @leabuelo if your car cant maintain the speed and acceleration at high speeds it aint fuckin with a vic

  • hi i am doing the same progect in a 99 but what did you use to program the fule and shift points

  • i know the 5.4 will fit but what did you use to program efi and shift points

im doing the same progect but on a 99 vic

  • if you're willing to cut gas mileage in half; yeah that's pretty cool

  • @jimbochrist How is the project going Im thinking about experimenting with my 99

  • What year 5.4 was put in? A 97-99 NPI or a 00+ PI?

  • ive come to my senses that ive become senseless and I could give you lessons in how to ruin your friendships...

  • that was impressive, i didn't think it would be that fast.

  • That sounds good. Pretty quick for that big of a car. Nice job.

  • not very impressive from a 5.4

  • cause they arent impressive ballsless motors

  • I didn't think a 5.4L Triton could fit in a Vic. Did you have to raise up the car for ground clearance?

  • you can fit the 6.8 triton V10 in there! :)

  • I didn't know there was that much room.

  • i saw it (not in person) at least twice...dont think a company make a kit for it tho. I saw a guy on cardomain who was putting a twin turbo setup on the v10 for is p71.... but something happend i dont remember what.....wouldve been SICK!

  • I'll have to check into that, It's an idea for a future project.

  • @superpug666 Why hello there superpug ^.^ that cardomain guy is me! What happened: House burnt down, and Xgf got all the money for insurance since my name wasnt on the house, but I was paying the payments, and all that. then once she had all that money, i guess no need for me anymore, she broke up with me, and After dumping like 40k into remodeling the house, I needed $ to get started again, so I sold about everything I had left and moved away

  • @DJMC5ive ohh....sooo sucks! but they say what doesnt kill us makes us stronger! ROCK ON BUDDY!

  • @superpug666 thanks bro. the cardomain is still up as well cardomain(dot)come/sean_cvn I've got a new project in the works...but its not getting posted anywhere for a bit...something secret. muahahaa

  • @SGTSAMJDENTON all ford v8s are interchangeable the triton is just a differently geared mustang cobra motor

  • What I didn't realize was there is enough room for a 5.4L Triton under the hood.

  • @SGTSAMJDENTON it'll fit along as its not the lightning motor then you got to get the crowl hood but everything lines up nicely its just a few coolant mods but I think the 4.6 is actually wider than the 5.4s the 4.6 is a hugh engine way bigger than the 5.0

  • Ok, I just thought the 5.4L might'ave been too tall to fit.

  • @bighorse215

SGTSAMJDENTON was in the right mind to assume that it's a larger engine, as it is. Its a 4.6L with a taller deck height, just as the 351 was to the 302. The 4.6L SOHC is not wider than the 5.4L SOHC. Even the 4.6L DOHC is smaller. The 5.4L DOHC is a massive engine.

  • I once saw a CV in Car and Driver that had the Triton 6.8 under the hood.

  • is that less than jake i hear?

  • waste of money

  • did that digital dash come stock with the vic or did you get it aftermarket?

  • @teentitan2k2 I have a 98 civilian Crown Vic and mine came with the same digital dash as the one in the video. I believe it was an option, not standard.

  • stock. go to auto consumer guide website to read year to year info on any car

  • why are people saying put a Chevy engine in a Ford? its sacrilege!!!

  • 5.4L trition is ford...

  • no no, read the last few posts "I think GM's LQ9 engine and trans is better swap than the 5.4" GM as in General motors as in CHEVY

  • oh, whoops. sorry about that! (:

  • @KarstonLikesMustangs

Same stock engine as a Ford GT, only the GT has upgrades of course.

  • I think GM's LQ9 engine and trans is better swap than the 5.4 it takes up less space compared to the 4.6 or 5.4 and makes more power its a cast iron block. The only problem is people say the emissions guys will see the ecm is from GM instead of Ford.

  • Now how about the LSx line of motors? I heard they where rated extremely conservatively (I don't kn ow if that's true..)

    Oh, and OHC > OHV!!

  • DOHC > OHC with the 4.6 or 5.4. I don't like the 3valve engines I hear they got issues, its either 2 or 4valve. Chevy wins again the 6.0L LQ9 has a cast iron block and is rated at 345hp 380tq. A 5.4 2valve makes at best 260-300hp 3-4valve and 350-365tq. I doubt a 5.4 Dohc would fit inside the Vic. If im looking to build or buy a ford motor to fit a Panther im lost. If you buy a used engine to swap these are your choices for those of us who want instant power. LSX builds aren't cheap.

  • I've Come To My Senses, That I've become senseless

  • holy goodness.... Makes me want on ein mine.

  • did you know a 5.4 makes the same power as a 6.1 SRT DODGE/CHRYLSER HEMI, with trcikflow heads, intake, some cams and tune stock everything else.

    :)

  • im pretty sure in canada our fords have the 5.4l i know two people who own ford interceptors and they have a 5.4

  • Bet it runs real good.

  • A lot better than the slow 4.6's

  • that's some good shit right there.. nice an fast

  • sick to me means not right . i read that to be something wrong . just read another thing that said 6 sec 0 to 100 .that is bunk . my 71 comet with a built 429 did not run but 6.20 in the 1/8 at a 102 mph !

  • 6.20 in the 1/8 is fast

  • @daddylexy ; that car only weighs 2350 lbs with me in it & over 500 hpower , all motor ! NO GAS ! ran mid 10.`s in 1/4 ! tagged & insured ! about 5 mpg .

  • To be honest with you i never seen or THINK i've heard of a comet. but for street legal car that is fast but 5 mpg is a headache.

  • @daddylexy ; it is a mercury comet similar to a maverick . i been drag racing 40 years & building engines , cars almost that long . been building my own that long . have owned a lot of cars & trucks .

  • That's great keep up the good work and by the way im a Rotary fan, maybe when i get older i might get into v8's

  • @crownv80 you wouldnt happen to know much about the AMC Gremlins, would you?

  • @ncn8ochaser ; what would you like to know ? put a 401 that i built with a 4 speed several years ago and a ford 9 inch from wrecked 67 gt mustang . the rear end fit easily . 3.89, gear locker . ran 11.5 in the 1/4 .

  • @crownv80 well that pretty much answered it haha im looking into buying one in the near future to take down to the strip on the weekends. what do they run bone stock, somewhere between 14-17? and about how much damage do you think a gremlin will do to my wallet if i shoot for a sub 11 second ride?

  • @ncn8ochaser ; stock amc 304 gremlin 16.7 -17.3 ! sub 11.`s with a 390 or 401 ; $ 3000.00 engine+ , trans & rear 1500.00 + .

  • what 5.4 is it? dohc,sohc,3 valve? what is it out of?

  • Thats dirty fresh. Most def gonna have to swap mine here in a few years

  • 1 mile per gallon, up to 2 when it's getting to 60 MPH.

    WOW...!

  • great cool nice awesome fantastic

  • if you put 5.4 OUT OF A LIGHTNING IN A CROW VIC and it is sick as you say ; YOUR FRIEND HAS NOT GOT SOMETHING RIGHT ! PUT 1 IN A 70 FORD P/U and it a stock srt 10 dodge short bed ! also a ls 1 gto automatic !

  • Comment removed

  • LOL You make absolutely NO sense crownv80. x-D

  • 0/100

6 sec rhat is great but i think that not true

    because i have vic 2007 from 0/100 in 8.9

  • yors doesnt have a 5.4 either...his does you can hear the difference. You gotta 4.6

  • do you not read the description? Or are you just blind?

this has a SWAPPED engine... 5.4L.

    geez

  • Dude, can you read? The description says 'swapped 5.4'... LRN2RD.

  • Do you mean 0-100 KPH because a crown victoria cannot do 100 MPH in 8.9 Seconds lol.

  • yes 0/100 KPH

  • every time i watch this, i rest easier knowing there's another vic out there bumping less than jake. :-)

  • Got any pictures of the motor in the engine bay? I'm planning on doing my swap in the future. Also, do you think it would be a noticeable power gain using the HPS $598 dollar intake that is made for the 5.4 versus using the smaller 4.6 intake with adapter plates? Do you think that the adapter places would restrict airflow some?

  • Search QuickVic30. I think you would be tickled pink. ;)
