  • Whew, It's a good thing they don't actually use those those things.

  • Comment removed

  • The negative comments about the creators of the video are some of the dumbest comments I have ever read on YouTube, and that is saying a lot.

Also, it is spelled "contradictory" and "infallible." At least the fact that you don't know how to spell the words is a good tip-off that you have little to no idea what they mean.

  • riggznit good point. Computer Scientists that are against using electronic machines? What? That seems to be a little contidictary to their pursuits in life? It's good enough for phones, computers, banking, wallstreet, the news, the internet, your car, your pursuit in life. But not with voting. ??? What?? What is their angle? Everyone has an angle. The guy with the ponytail seems to be a serious tool. I seen him in anyother video where he ranked the machine as a 7. Thats my lucky number.

  • So you don't want the guy who counts the vote to know what you voted for? How is he supposed to count your vote then? That doesn't mean you put your NAME on the ballot, of course, duh!

  • Well eXXO as the crazies would say out there. If you have a unique personal mark on the ballot that would clearly not be TRANSPARENT CONFIDENTIALITY.

You really don't get the whole picture. Your idea of how voting should go doesn't speak on behalf of the majority. Your complaints are the minority and as all know that nothing is infaluable the amount of faluability is the question. Not the fact that it is faluable.

  • erotocharter, Moronic can't be associated with fact. The fact that your red team attack was an unrealistic and not taking into acount the actual voting process. To attack a machine as if it stands alone without other safe guards is fictious and irresponsible. Your simple mind has not taking into account all the other safequards in place. Anything man built can be taken apart so with that said, Are you saying we shouldn't vote at all?

Come on say something else stupid!! Love It!!!

  • Why do some of you moronic posters assume UCSB is attacking Sequoia? UCSB is simply saying that anyone, whether affiliated with the manufacturer or not, can tamper with the machine and its components. DUH.

  • Nado1377 Thank You!! Its Funny that these groups that are out to destroy the voting system companies have the same goals as the companies do, to protect voter integrity. Yet these group consistently attack those companies. What ever happened to collaboration wouldn't that be more benefitial to the voting public? The media sells the news and thrives off of controversy, it sells!! So why can't we all get along and work together to protect the voting public from malicious people?

  • Just use fucking PAPER BALLOTS. Then a quick dip of the finger into purple INK to prevent voting fraud. Jesus Christ.

  • Hey - good idea! Now why aren't we using fingerprinting?

  • ANY electronic voting machine is subject to tampering -if you have beef with sequoia, then take it up with them. You have not only compromised voter confidence in counties that use sequoia voting equipment by posting this on youtube, but you've also given possible hackers ideas on how to tamper with this important election. Voters in sequoia counties have no other alternative than to use their equipment. I think I know why you posted this, and I also think that your reasons are selfish.

  • SCANTRON:

Everyone knows how to use them.

Any barely-literate election official can double-check the numbers and reset the machine - it doesn't take a software engineer.

They cannot be wi-fi accessed, like Diebold machines.

They cannot be programmed with encrypted, malicious software, and the firmware can be double-checked by just about anybody.

And they cost about fifty bucks to buy (not $200,000) and require almost zero maintenance.

  • What the fuck is going on in this coutry is this an election or a scam!?

  • Yes, one bad apple ruins the bunch. Etc. Etc. Come up with a better way and I guarrantee that I could find a way to defeat your system. Come on be realistic. These machines are tools. If you buy a tv and someone breaks into your home and reprograms the buttons is that Sony's fault. NSA,NASA,FBI all have been "HACKED" they didn't stop using computers they learned from it and made it better. Identities are stolen every few seconds we don't stop using computers. Stop blaming Rap Music!!!

  • No but it takes into account the one person it takes to set this in motion ;)

  • There is only two groups of people that have an interest in voting computers: voting computer manufacturers and people who want to manipulate a vote. Look how interestingly all Dibold voting machines only make mistakes in favor of always the same party - one that has close ties to Dibold.

So far, all voting machines on the market, all over the world, from every company seem to be designed to be easily manipulated. Call me tinfoilhead, but i doubt this is just extreme incompetence.

  • I am very interested; I am so very sick and tired of seeing NUMEROUS videos articles validating how easy it is to hack these machines, yet when you write your reps to return to paper ballots, you get no where...I have written both my Fed'l Reps and State Reps...it enrages me that another election is on the horizon, using these putrid machines..

  • No matter where you stand on the partisan aisle, I'd at least think that this is something more Americans would be interested in. Scary,Scary, Scary, but not hopeless. Demand paper ballots.

  • So much complication to cast a vote. Guys, paper ballots do work everywhere else in the world, do something.

  • We're fucked.

  • Folks that happen to watch this video.

If you watch it, vote on it. This is important stuff.

  • No doubt it's a federal offense for placing a Trojan on the voting booth.

  • Wow, what definitly scares me is the lag of viewers here. Nearly nobody seems to be interested in this. Is it still possible to vote oldschool style in the U.S., or are you forced to use something like this? Well than, happy voting

  • Why can hacking lead to lifetime sentence? Eliminate the competition. When its this easy, they obviously designed it that way. My favorite is the security seals. Also, can you imagine the psychological factors being discussed during design stage,i.e. a poll worker could argue blue in the face about how the physical switches and paper trail blah blah blah protect the system. Also, I have to wonder if your vote is visible to the next person in line..

  • propably is seeing as how it's printed on paper... right next to the monitor.

And i fully agree, pay people to hack the hell out of that thing, it's the only way to find out how to make it more watertight in the future.

Lest you're replacing the system with something that prints you out a receit that YOU hand over to the workers. Making it more likely the voter checks what the recorded. [naturally count the paper votes, not digital numbers]

Not from the usa myself, but that's a frail system.

  • Paper votes ftw

  • Scary stuff.

  • This is so pathetic it's not even funny. They've figured out so many ways to change votes with this thing I doubt it would ever even be detected. These things need to be vetted by the same guys in Vegas that test slot machines. They may still be hackable but I guarantee they'll be better than this crap.
