  • really, really nice work! just flawless! you must have been practicing like crazy, huh? :)

  • Nice work, dude! Good job, indeed!

  • lol @ all thsee dumb fuck comments you guys realize this guy is a pro and dominici is amazing

    (petrucci once instructed maillard)

  • it's perfect!

  • Lot of haters. I just came from Petrucci playing his own solo and this is closer to the album than that was... 10/10

  • I love this solo cover. The guy even got the vibrato, the accents and the feeling right. It is not about hitting all the notes, it is about getting the feeling of the original right.

    He did!!!

  • This cover is good but imo this guy has the best solo and cover of this song. look up ShockYoung

  • very nice but no feeling...

  • i love how the first two suggested vids on the right side are john petrucci versions. shows how good this is

  • Nice cover but anyone else think that the snare is annoying as hell?

  • @thehuntz1 sorry to disapoint you. the snare is part of the song =P @device1978 What a great job! Very clear. I can't play it that way. Stay Tuned Sir

  • because there are simply too many "difficult" techniques and pick up switches going on. I remember being very disappointed when I would see Petrucci play it live. Unlike, say Fortune, where it's more manageable. The specific vibrato that he pulls off between that picking and very strict legato is just very hard to get at an exact measure. I think this guy does an excellent job as well as that CeCi guy. Better than Petruccis lame musicman version on here for sure

  • I agree with Shwarg.. After having learned this solo after many years of hearing it (ill upload someday when I actually get it on video(have

to relearn it) I must say that it's rather

dissapointing in the sense that it can't really

be played "perfectly" in a one take live

setting. It's very obvious that it was recorded

    the Dragonforce/Hammett way where he

records diff parts of the solo one at a time

  • Brian Maillard plays in an italian band named SOLID VISION, listen on youtube!!!!! :) Rock on!

  • Brian is a true masterful guitar player and performer. I think the Dream still lives and I tip my hat to these guys in Dominici for making the dream live on forever in our minds ears and eyes. True genius and true musicianship of the highest quality and ability.

  • work on that vibrato, friend. great technique otherwise

  • that was disgusting. very good job!!

  • damn guys, you jsut don't hear it. of course, technically it's perfect, no doubt, but what is missing here is the passion of the original, in a way that it can understandibly only be expressed by the creator. Talking about softer music I would call it groove but I think in this case the word "passion" fits way better. Petrucci delivers the guitar with a sort of vital soul, you can hear it scream and bawl fractiously and nastily like a cat. (listen closely to bandings and tremolo of each version)

  • @Al4utube For fuck sake, he's not John Petrucci, nobody on the planet is gonna be able to replicate it with every little nuance the way he does, regardless of if they nail the notes 100%, everyone has their own take on it.

  • @schwarg Nobody likes imitators!!

  • @schwarg isn't that similiar to the point I tried to make??

  • @schwarg he plays this better than john petrucci

  • @Al4utube i dont think its missing "passion". i mean, it might be, but overall it's just missing VIBRATO. every point where petrucci shakes the note into a beautiful wave of sound, this guy leaves it sounding as stale as day-old bread...

  • @MrMeist I thought about it and now I think you're right. You can describe what's missing in technical terms basically as "missing vibrato", makes it much clearer what I was trying to say. Basically, that was what I meant. Passion, as another word for "groove", is missing here, and that groove would be improved using vibrato at those moments were it is supposed to be used.

  • @Metallaro51 dont forget who wrote the solo

  • noice! :)

  • Make a song yourself and be the soulmate of John P.

    :)) wow

  • wow you made that look easy! Perfect, nice job.

  • Guitar makes Grrr sound awesome!

  • Sometimes I wonder who would dislike something like this? This cover is nearly perfect.

  • @Jongeruz That's why they dislike it. Jealousy.

  • fuc*ing awesome dude!!! Congrats, like a glove!! Almost better than Petrucci himself ;)) :)

  • @indigoclean you said to much -.-...no one can be better than god lol :D

  • awesome! great solo and perfect playing, congrats

  • Perfect

  • The last part of the solo, the one that looks like chromatic scales; Should it be played at 210BPM or 280 (4 notes per beat). Beacause if it is supoused to be played at 280, I'm pretty sure not even Petrucci is playing it at that speed on his video.

  • Sick. way better than Petrucci's NASTY tone in the one that comes up first on the youtube list.

  • @VoodooPollitico actually I thought that tone was great.

  • Krass!

  • this is probably the best attempt i've seen. unlike many who blow through it, this was real tasteful. i guess a maillard reaction haha pun intended.

  • helal amk süpersin

  • The electric guitar is for me one of the greatest tools ever built by humans, it's just amazing what it can do when handled properly, like we see in this video and many others.

  • @TedBoyRomarino

    So true.

  • :-0 You are a *VERY* talented guitarrist

  • Damn that part of the 0:50 to 0:53 kils me o.o

  • Fantastic!

  • Someone please tell me what they're doing at 1:03-1:04... never seen/heard that technique before.

  • @MatsEP It's called the whammy flutter, you sorta whack the whammy so as a result of the whack it goes updownupdown really fast until it loses momentum, Steve Vai does it quite a couple of times, with love and care of course.

  • @MatsEP Well he just hits the tremarm so it vibrates very quickly... a lot simpler than it looks.

  • @MatsEP to be a bit more detailed, you don't just "whack" it. It is actually more of a drag across the bar at the lower point. If you just try to slap it your going to recoil the tremolo and it will sound like crap. If you want to try it, just remember to slide across the bar, don't hit it.

  • great dude!

  • QUE CAPO!!!

  • the best cover of this solo that i've ever seen is by an italian guy called bruno di giorgi... absolutely no difference than the original..

  • Best 'Ive seen bay far..... If Petrucci played with a metronome, this would be it. A little more "soul.." and it would be Petruuci. Nice job.

  • Absolutely outstanding

  • Nicely done sir.

  • Brian you deserve the best in your carrier as guitarrist. Very good cover.

Are these the original breeds pickup?

  • HOLY FUCk

  • great!

  • james labrie? plays guitar now too?

  • Ooh, shiny-shiny guitar! Oh, and the solo is also very nice! :D

  • fucking aaweesome! bro you're a great guitarist

  • Just perfect. It's the same solo! I love that.

  • doesn't he play with charlie dominici?

  • this rocks dude

  • this was most impressive =)!

  • This is the best cover I've seen so far here on youtube. I doubt I'll see anything better. Good job, sir. Really like your sound and the fact that you play that clear! Greetings

  • Uhhh... You'te not Petrucci...

    You disgust me.

  • flawless, 5* man

  • dude!!! THAT. was. AMAZING!!! ive never heard that ever covered as amazing as you, 10 out of 5!!

  • sick :D

    great job!

  • Holy shit!!! You do it better than Petrucci himself.

  • Nice job!

  • damn impressive, all that was missing was that petrucci :58 whammy pinches he does, at least I think thats what it was.

  • Really good, but it was missing SOMETHING that belongs to petrucci.

  • I really liked this.

  • very nice...better than petruci play it these days.

  • @AtanasovPeter

are you kidding? petrucci plays just as well these days as he did 20 years ago. if not better. are you on crack?

  • @chaveznieves i am on crack or petruci fans are blind and can't hear well.

It's one thing to like someone and other to be a blind fan.

  • @AtanasovPeter

im not blind at all. i'm not the kind of fan that won't admit that labrie is prone to off key singing from his vocal injury and the like, but you have to realize that although his style has changed over the years, he hasn't become a lesser guitarist.

  • @chaveznieves listen to how much effects he has in Images and Words and listen some new album....now i can hear a blur of distortion, delay, reverb, phaser and who knows what else.

  • @AtanasovPeter

just because his sound has changed doesn't make him worse. he's different thats all. and you may or may not like it. thats fine. but you can't call him a bad player when he's widely regarded as one of the best (the best by some) guitarists in the world just because you don't like what he does

  • @chaveznieves What does "one of the best" mean? There are 100 thousand guitarists around the world that many people call "one of the best".You can't call every good player one of the best. There are very few people that people should say "one of the best".The people who innovated the instrument and not just good players.Allan Holdsworth,Frank Gambale,Django Reinhard,Jimi Hendrix,Al Di Meola,John Mclaughlin...

  • @chaveznieves All the players like Petruci,Vai,malmsteen, satriani worship Holdsworth because the things that he is doing on the guitar can't even be described with words. If anyone should be named the best guitarist in the world it's Holdsworth.Vai called Holdsworth the best so did Frank Zappa and many others

  • @AtanasovPeter

well petrucci's idol is not holdsworth. his idol is steve morse.

and again. just because YOU think someone is the best doesn't make them the best. especially because "best" means different things to different people. there's not a single player in that list you gave me i would call one of the best. but thats just because i have a different opinion of what a great guitar player should be. now if you don't mind. can we kindly agree to disagree and let me move on with my life

  • @chaveznieves watch closely the interview from his lessons in the 90's rock descipline or something...he says i have always been 2 schools 1 play stakato like al di meola and steve morrs and 2 try to play legato like Allan

  • @chaveznieves you moron...when you grow up study some music read some books about harmony and modes start listening to jazz and fusion and when you start to understand it then talk to me.I cannot argue with you now because you have no idea about anything.

  • @AtanasovPeter

don't assume that i don't know shit about music. i happen to be a music student at university so shut the hell up. i'm a piano major.

i know what the hell i'm talking about. and besides. i don't know why you think that youre opinion is so damn superior to everyone elses. now. again. IF YOU DON'T MIND. I'D LIKE TO MOVE ON AND GET ON WITH MY LIFE. you aren't going to change my opinion, and you're looking more and more like an idiot as this wears on

  • @chaveznieves that is very nice that you study...i wish you find all the answers you are looking for.

  • great

  • damn thats one sick ibanez

  • ohhhhh

this Jem is a instrument of gods

i need a guitar like the your

  • Very nice cover, but it feels a bit too mechnical. I think it lacks Petrucci's subtle phrasing quirks, and stuff like that.

  • i need a jem...actually any guitar better than my crappy starter kit guitar would do nicely

  • Solid Vision's live shows are amazing, their own songs and covers are always perfectly executed and the singer is great too!...

  • Gorgeous tone.

  • omg cool.

  • fuck!!!!!!!1

    awesome!!!!

  • man it's the best cover I've ever seen....GREAT JOB!

  • @axsnoid /watch?v=BI3nuUMHwIc

  • great job! can't get better than that.

  • Great solo! Ive recorded it too. Check it on my videos. ;-)

    Great tone too!

  • I have that guitar. BRMR FTW!!!

  • incredible!

  • I totally agree, your finger movement is very clean which is reflected in your tone. One of the only covers that I've seen that does the harmonic around 1:03. All great playing, other than I do think it could feel a little more loose, the style seems to be more bluesy than strictly to the beat. =)

  • great job man!!

  • holy shit that is insane

  • Grande Brian!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy crap! Great job!

  • Well Done!

  • Dude, you finger movement is PERFECT... you could make that sound with a 30 watt Line 6 I meen just wow..... Wish I could play like that

  • very impressive

  • AWESOMENESS! 5 stars totally

  • ma te sei na branda

  • Nope, the tone is in his fingers! Give me that equipment and it'll sound like crap because I play like crap....

  • Yes! Someone finally realizes that tone comes from your hands! The equipment just does what your hands tell it!

  • George Lynch for example

  • @AsmusThomsen No it won't. Because he's playing through a Mark IV

  • Holy crap dude! What school do you go to?

  • Very good!

  • nice jem

  • spot on

  • wonderful!

  • 5 stars... excellent

  • Incredible!

  • Good job!

  • You nailed it very nice!

  • YEHHH

  • Rock on!! Perfect!

  • Best attempt I've seen yet, close tone also but it's near impossible to get John's exact tone :(

  • Because his equipment was made specifically for him XD(adam02 if u dnt get it lol)

  • There's no way you guitar n00bs can achieve his tone, there's only one of each. :')

  • Could be because he had a custom guitar and amplifiers/effects worth over tens of thousand dollars. Just the head is 3000 dollars, then add up equalizers, effects, the cabinets and you'll end up with a pretty expensive rig.

That's where he gets his tone, kickass equipment.

  • @metalweenis atempt? he nailed it!

  • @metalweenis its near impossible to get anyone's exact tone because everyone is completely different.

  • Just fucking great !!!

  • Incredibly good!!!

  • AWSOME! :D

  • Uao...

  • cool guitar

  • Respect!

  • HELL YES!

  • 10 Stelle!!!

  • Fantastic man, great job. I'm sure John would be proud by that performance.

  • He is a member of italian group SOLID VISION !! GRANDE BRIANNN

  • That's a Mark IV newb, no Boogie tone is thin and weak.

  • Amazing! Amazing! 5/5!

  • complimenti davvero bravo

  • Very, very good cover. It`s evident you`re professional.

  • lol yup, by his skill, and his ridiculously expensive gear ahahah.

  • check out my version of the solo im only 13

  • Even if you could play it your a stupid little show off

  • hey man im just trying to get view on my videos

  • It's great that you have an ability, etc, that's cool, but er, keep it on the down low

  • ok what ever you say lol

  • That guitar is a fucking mirror. Wow.

  • fucking perfect

  • i rate it... hmm let me see whats in the box today... oh a 5*°°+

  • i think that bruno di girgi is better :/watch?v=LpGeCfHb1Sg

  • awesome guitar

  • this is slower than the origine?!

  • I think the tempo is the same..

  • oh yeah¡ nice...

  • you can gloat all you want. this was 100% perfect and awesome. best cover EVER!

  • Perfect ;)

  • Muy buena ejecucion, exelente!
