  • What about the Fleischer brothers? They were the inventors of rotoscoping in 1919.

  • what year was gertie made in

  • @243luigi

Gertie was made in 1914... Brey's patents were for that same year.. But Bray had already been using the printing method as of his cartoon the Artists Dream which was launched in 1913...

  • I like your narration

  • Thanks for posting! I worked for dePatie Freeleng (Warners). I was given opportunity to work for Hanna Barbera but at HB, women were only allowed in the ink and paint dept. (not even xerography) and though dePatie Freeleng was almost as crappy a place to work for women, there was more of a chance there than at HB. Also HB outsourced animation before other companies did (i.e., destroying the jobs of many animators in the US).

  • COLONIAL Heeza Liar...sheesh...

  • thanks for the video. Can I ask for a dvd copy of your film? I would like to use it in my animation class. Thanks.

  • Hello!

Just wanted to thank you for making this documentary :)

    So THANK YOU!

  • Thanks for this! I never knew anything about the early animation work that predated Disney's. Very interesting... I met Bill Hanna back in 1991 and it was a lifelong dream come true. In his book, 'A Cast of Friends', he mentions that he interviewed with Disney before landing work at MGM. Glad for that! Can't imagine life without Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones, or Jonny Quest.

  • viva animation!!

  • Thanks!!
