@1:18 is clear that reserve is deployed beside the main chute. However it is unclear if the skydiver tried to brakeaway or not? It is also not clear at which hight reserve was deployed?
nice job holding on to the bridal so the main didn't come out of the bag. Did you have to clear the risers or did they release on thier own when cut away? Did you land with the main or did ya let it go?
It depends on how high they open, if they open at 3k. Than they have around 10 seconds before the opening. But that means less time to play around under the canopy :-)
The main parachute was released from the harness to deploy the reserve. Only one side/"set" of the main chute's lines/risers is visible in the video because the other set of lines stayed on the deployment bag with those lines + bag caught on a plastic connector that attached the lower part of the camerasuit "wing" to the jumpsuit.
I wound up on my back when I looked to my right after feeling the main canopy's deployment bag thumping my side (bag is visible in the video).

@WesternSunrise It is clear that he cutaway because 1:08 shows the risers disconnected.

These kind of mals scare the shit out of me, but still not a reason to quit jumping :-).
Nevertheless, nice safe, glad you're still alive! I reckon this was a life changing experience, just as skydiving as a whole. ;-)

When they drop at 4k, do they have to just jump, and pull the second they jump?

That video was a bit pretentious!
How much do you charge to take tandems to 9k?! We do better than that with a 182 even in the UK!

Was that your reserve you landed under, or did your main final deploy? And how did you end up on your back through that?

I used to "jump" because it was my job to. To do it for FUN IS N.U.T.S.!
