You are actually the idiot, the roots need aerated soil (in general) to absorb phosphorus, nitrogen etc. That is why earthworms are so important for the soil.
the roots can breathe in that water? dont they need to be arrated with airstones so they can breath in the water? roots will get root rot and turn brown if left in stagnant water.
@a2vr6t -the yanks are all the same.ignorant cheeky bastards, actually ile change that, all the yank KIDS are the same, ignorant, cheeky, uneducated cunts who all need a good kick up the arse!
@AREAL0YINZER -what a typical thick, idiotic, uneducated statement i would expect from someone of your country&class!&btw i would probably kick 6 shades of shit outta you BOY!
@Bewellfarmer It needs to be light tight to prevent alge blooms in nutrirent rich water. However, most seedlings and cuttings go into a mix very nutrient lite mix so light causing alge blooms is not as much of a concern.
Is there nothing in the water?
I have with some plants succeeded with plain water.. but last time I failed!
This looks like you'd have a bubbler in there though, do you?

That is an awesome video, I remember helping prepare to film it.
However it actually took 10 days :).
Still really nice, but the warehouse it was filmed in was not perfect conditions, so that is why it was 10 days, but who can complain!

Don't the roots have to be light-tight?
aurumvore 4 years ago
Doesn't appear so.

no indirect light works fine
shadey101 4 years ago
That was a demo unit, they are clear, the real units are blacked out for better rooting.
oldfizban 4 years ago
it helps

@aurumvore
it depends on the plant. think of plants growing in an aquarium under the flourescent light, much different than a plant like cannabis.
hanslutherh 1 year ago
@aurumvore only UV light destroys roots. normal CF or regular light bulbs dont hurt em.

It's neat how that once the roots start forming the plants start moving around like crazy
