@MrDrFleischer maybe a few hundred dollars worth of damage depending on luck. I crashed like this 3 times at the track before finally t-boning a concrete wall at about 80mph (over many years). Usually break a rear set, might bend a handlebar and some cosmetic damage to bodywork depending on sliders and luck. Of course every crash is different but these are usually the ones that just piss you off and make you go get the duct tape. Looks like he lost a shield on this one.

If you morons would pay attention you'd notice that this thing isn't meant to protect the shoulders so much as it's protecting the head and neck by limiting the range of motion of the neck and preventing the head from smacking off the pavement. It also helps with letting your body roll with the impact on the ground further reducing the chance of serious injury. The rest of the body is protected by the leathers, gloves, and knee/elbow pads.

wow looks like everyone has negative comments... i agree, it's funny and probably has a ways to go and needs refinement. But airbags for cars also probably received similar skepticism at first, and now how many people would really prefer not to have them especially on a street car? For that matter... look at modern riding gear in general. Decades ago it would've been ridiculed... think about it. I usually wear very little gear myself, but i'd never discourage someone from wearing more.

The pack seems small enough and appears to be fairly light weight so why not attach 3 of these? Extra near the base of the spine which could reach down to cover is arse (that looked like it hit the ground hard in the video) and one on the front to protect the stomach? A better suggestion is not wearing something that will make you roll. Sliding is key to surviving unharmed. That is unless you slide into something in which case that tiny airbag won't help. Make a whole suit that puffs up into the shape of the michelen man and slides.

I'm sorry about your leg but if you've had 30 years experience with bikes you should be aware of the dangers. Lot's of people have rode for less time and lost more. Bikes are great but when it goes wrong people get hurt, if you've got a better suggestion for safety gear then I'd love to hear it.
