It's more a guitar-based style, and it does have a jazz background (along with many others including noise rock which explains the ambience given). It's more based on atypical rhythmic structures such as irregular stops and starts and dissonant chords.

It's not math rock as it's all a standard 4/4 tempo, but the instruments have their own poly-rhythmic beats, basically taken from a jazz background.
