Back in the early 1970s, when I was still living in the Boston area, I am pretty sure that Bob Ryan was a young reporter with the Boston Globe. I remember in one of his stories of a Celtic win at Boston, he described the good play by the Celts and whoever they beat. Then he wrote something like the following: "The officiating was another story. It was typical NBA-awful." I am sure that Ryan wrote it, it may have been later in '70s. It made me laugh, but almost cry at the same time. It was true!

WHAT are you talking about ryan49er1? The 1974 NBA Championship and 1976 NBA Champion Boston Celtic's did not have Larry Bird...Bird's first season in the NBA was the 1979-1980 season.

Well...I have to be honest. As much as I hate the guys over at NESN and CSN, that wasn't at all a technical foul. But, at the same time Heinsohn would probably want a technical foul called if the roles were reversed so I guess it's all gravy.
