  • Tommy Heinsohn's number while playing in college at Holy Cross was number 24.

Holy Cross retired his number 24 and the Celtics retired his number 15. Great college player, great NBA player and coach. Tommy did the commentary on NBA nationally televised NBA games before doing commentary on Celtics games with Mike Gorman and they have been doing that together for over 30 years.

  • Tommy Heinsohn used to wear #14 or 16 for the gents in green.

  • @mr2del Tommy was number 15 while playing for the C's. His number 15 was retired 10-15-66 Tommy NBA Rookie of the Year in 1957.T helped the Celtics capture 8 NBA titles (1957 and 1959 through 1965) in his 9-year playing career, all with the C's.T .was Head Coach of the C's for 9 years from 1969-70 through 1977-78, and guided the C's to 2 more titles in 1974 and 1976.NBA Coach of the Year in 1973, a six-time NBA All-Star.Elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986.

  • He's a lush!

  • @carlhil2 carlhil2 is an asshole.

  • Never gets old pointing out why Tommy's credentials: Former NBA Rookie of the year, 6x NBA All-Star, .4x All-NBA Second Team, former NCAA First Team All-American, former NBA Coach Of the Year, Winner of EIGHT Rings as a starting forward Winner of two more rings as a coach of the Celtics, one of longest tenured announcers in NBA history, number retired by the Boston Celtics, member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. If you think you know more about basketball than Tommy, YOU ARE the fucking idiot.

  • @hey12358y Again, what a dumbass perspective.

  • i love how they can say what ever they want

  • this guy is terrible....... what an awful announcer.. chill the fuck out with your biased comments thats what makes a good announcer.. this guy is just horrendous and doesnt know the rules at all "i dont like that!" okay? no one cares if you like it or not its a rule...

  • @seanw343 It's a local Boston station, he's allowed to be biased, thats why people here love to listen to him. So how about you "chill the fuck out?" Let me say it one more time, people LOVE listening to him.

  • @whiteonrice506 the station is actually everywhere in new england so it pisses off knicks and nets fans

  • @tehLamM The Nets don't have fans.

  • @whiteonrice506 The Laker commentators are very smart basketball analysts. Migh suck off Kobe a bit too much but they always give the opposing teams credit and call out the Lakers on their mistakes.

Can they be a bit biased? Sure. Does that give them the right to sound like a pissed off fan in the stands holding a beer? Hell no.

  • @shadow1dx You think Tommy Heinsohn sounds like a fan holding a beer?? Thats BOGUS!!

  • @seanw343 so you're saying someone who has played/coached/announced for the celtics for like 50 years doesn't know the rules to the game. He is biased because it's the Celtics tv station. Local commentators are always biased

  • Back in the early 1970s, when I was still living in the Boston area, I am pretty sure that Bob Ryan was a young reporter with the Boston Globe. I remember in one of his stories of a Celtic win at Boston, he described the good play by the Celts and whoever they beat. Then he wrote something like the following: "The officiating was another story. It was typical NBA-awful." I am sure that Ryan wrote it, it may have been later in '70s. It made me laugh, but almost cry at the same time. It was true!

  • Tommy is wrong. Pierce's stare was a taunt and a T-worthy. Of course they never bothered to call it when Jordan did it. Two sets of rules.

  • It definitely seems in all these videos like Tommy Heinsohn doesn't like the Suns... feeling the rivalry from the '76 Finals, maybe?

  • Bill Walton's reaction while he was watching the game on TV:

    "Bogut?

    WTF?!?

Tom we ain't playing the Bucks, that's suns@celtics, that's Channing Frye!"

Thumbs up if you, like me, don't want Bill Walton on CSNNE anymore!

  • @mecchista I am pretty sure the word he said, or tried to say, was "Bogus." but I agree with you, Bill Walton has issues as an announcer. Has trouble merely spitting out words. But I forgive BW, because he helped the 1986 Celtics run up one of the alltime greatest NBA seasons ever. I am pretty sure that the '86 Celts lost only one home game the entire season.

  • lol when he said "THIS IS BOGUS!" I think they used editing because he said bullshit...

  • MY TEAMS UP BY 24??? WE WERE UP BY FUCKING 25!!!!!!!!

  • That is BOGUS!!!

  • paul pierce is a bitch...the way he left the laker game in the 2008 finals in a wheel chair bitching about his leg and five minutes later seeing him running back to the game like nothing had happend

  • @Jeovanny323 He came back and drained two 3's u mad?

  • @Jeovanny323 SHUT UP

  • Who won that series?

  • The lakers will always be second in rings and class to the Celtics.

The Lakers and Celtics have met 12 times in the finals. The Celtics won nine times, the Lakers won three.

Not only are they second best to the Celtics, they don't have as much class. The response of the entire Lakers team in game 4 against the Mavericks this year was disgraceful. Odom and Bynum got ejected like a pair of clowns. Congratulations Bynum, you elbowed Berea in the ribs, a man who isn't even six feet tall.

  • @cmike12345 true but any team in the nba does that...with out the lakers and celtics there woudlnt be no NBA

  • @cmike12345 ohhh please....lakers have won in almost every decade....celtics won one in the past 20 yrs...stop bringing up the 50's era.....i agree they looked like crap that last game though and bynum showed no class

  • @ryan49er1 Doesn't matter. Celtics have more rings, and Kobe is a rapist.

    umadfaggot?

  • @iClassiqaL yesss you have sooo many more rings and kobe did time like tyson for rape.....you shut me up!!!

  • @ryan49er1 umad.

  • @ryan49er1 uhhh the 50's was when the lakers won 5 in minnesota before the shotclock was invented

  • @GotAnEyedea uhhh do you see me living in the mikan era saying based on that the lakers are a better franchise??....thats the celtics fans living in the russel era when they werent even born

  • @ryan49er1 what i'm trying to say is that you cant fault the celtics for dominating early nba when the lakers dominated an even simpler time.

  • @GotAnEyedea hey the celtics were a bad ass team...they dominated and won...i've never denied it....i'm just saying you can't hang on that era forever......celtic fans can't always say...."ohhh yea...so what if we have only won one championship in the past 20 yrs....we have the 60's to bring up!!!! so celtic franchise is better!!"

  • @ryan49er1 true. but all that seperates the lakers from being like the celtics is one star (shaq). i know, what if scenarios, but it isn't as big a difference as you might think

  • @GotAnEyedea ??? .. If you open that pandora's box then where would your franchise have been if it wasn't for bird....lol if it wasn't for him then the celtics would only have one championship in the past 40 yrs.....of course great players make a difference....celtics made a great franchise move in getting him.

  • @ryan49er1 that's what i mean though. all that seperates equal dominance in all era's between the two clubs is one or two moves

  • @GotAnEyedea well i agree with that....i respect your opinion and the fact you didn't resort to name calling.....though we may disagree who has had the better franchise the past 30 yrs they are both great franchises

  • @cmike12345 A fan of a team with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce on it has no business calling any team classless.

  • @Jeovanny323 the times he got stabbed and played preseason games after and the time he cracked four teeth and played anyway were pretty big bitch moves too huh

  • this was the most ridiculous call ive ever seen. im with tommy all the way. kids can do that in junior high but paul pierce cant? that ref just lost a tommy point!

  • Tommy should give himself a Tommy point

  • tommy heinsohn is god.

  • Well...I have to be honest. As much as I hate the guys over at NESN and CSN, that wasn't at all a technical foul. But, at the same time Heinsohn would probably want a technical foul called if the roles were reversed so I guess it's all gravy.

  • Him and Sean Elliott are THE Biggest Homers in sports commentating..

  • first?
