  • Viewer number 99,999 here asking if this thing still work?

  • overclock it

  • careful vegetable oil will rot i prefer mineral oil

  • @Gin81593 It will decay but it will take 1-2 years so it's ok (considering the low price), I'm planning to make an oil pc myself. But can't decide either mineral oil which is clear like water (looks better) of transformer oil witch has the better physical characteristics but is as yellow as vegtable oil :/

  • @Raffix394 well durability of the oil and its ability to conduct heat is what i prefer and you can always change the color with lights, and since its translucent you can mix yellow with other lights to make another color :) if not mineral oil always works

  • @Gin81593 One month has passed since my last comment now I have a mineral oil pc (video i m youtube channel) I took the mineral oil insted of the transformer oil it was just cheaper, but works fine :)

    cheers

  • so is it air tight/ does the oil ever need replacing or any components have to stay out of the water?

  • looks cool.. i wouldnt do it tho.. i do to much changing stuff.. check out my computer

  • Upgrading that thing would be one messy work.

  • DATAS.

  • how the fck did i end up watching this.........i mean cmon......id rather have a hot noisy computer than a room that smells like shit

  • @The1Experiment1 So you've grown up under the impression that vegetable oil "smells like shit". You need to confront your parents about what they were REALLY using to cook your meals. Maybe it was used cooking grease they stole from their jobs at McDonalds or something.

  • lol welcome to GASpure

  • lmao thats sweet. i wanted to do that with one of my really old pc's wats the temps like ?

  • he use fan to circulate oil instead of pumps that use in water cooling

  • hey i can fried an egg there :P

  • @Janiekx dude is it really electric field? or magnetic field?

  • ok my bad i was indeed thinking of the old simple dc motor. but surely an ac motor would be better because then you don't need a commutator, it happens automatically? im thinking along the lines of the squirrel cage motor

  • is miniral oil flamable?

  • @need4speed402 yes o.o

  • @need4speed402 nope

  • @Janiekx do you know anything about motors? both AC and DC motors both require a physical contact at some point in time to complete a circuit through the rotor, hence generating the magnetic fields of which you speak. these magnetic fields the repel or attract the permanent magnets in the motor, which are fixed, causing the rotor to spin. so there is indeed wear and tear going on in every motor on the earth, 'brushless' or not.

  • What's the point of putting the power supply in the oil? Wouldn't that add extra heat?

  • @toktokk666 no

  • song?

  • Wow whats the music name plz?

  • more technically, the specific heat capacity (ill call it dQ) of oil is 1.8-2kJ/kg whereas water is around 4.2 and dry air about 1. the higher dQ, the better the fluid will cool your system. since oil is less than water, and water systems have flow, then id suggest like a few others to pump the oil around for better cooling.

however well done on getting it all to work

  • why would you put the fans in the oil? oil is far more viscous than air, so the fan motors have to work harder to turn the fan blade. since the motors are not designed to do this, the 'insides' will experience far more "wear and tear" because there is a higher current being passed through the motor to try to overcome the viscous oil. what that all means is that the fan motors will degrade significantly faster than if they were in air.

  • Your fan theory sounds reasonable, but the guys over at Puget Systems have had no probs for like 2 years....and if they fail after two years, so what ? replace them.

  • its not a theory, it is science fact, however you are right, for someone to build an oil-surrounded computer, then replacing a fan isn't going to be all that hard.

  • omg have u ever put veg oil in a empty can and light it try to blow it out? yep it gets bigger u better hope that it doesnt catch fire or else ur pretty much fucked!

  • nice. However, big mistake! You should have used mineral oil. Instead you used what looks to be vegetable oil. Also, hook up a radiator system to pump the oil.

  • DONT USE FANS

  • How does it work compared to air?

  • is the Energie Unit in the Oil or outside?

  • i suppose you mean power supply

it's on the bottom of the 'case'

  • Wouldn't the componets eventually rust away. Also what happens when the oil heats up?

  • Its oil, it doesnt rust the components.

Second one... I think you need a few fans to circulate it, but Im not a expert.

  • You know when you put oil on a rusty chain?

    Enough said.

  • temperatures?

  • what kind of oil did you use?

  • My guess would be a mild laxative mineral oil

  • Did you isolate the CPU and socket from the oil by throwing some cement around the heatsink base? Just wondering if you did or not. :)

  • you do not have to isolate the CPU, according to puget systems.

  • Regulair Oil is never good becos it olso Gets Hard and Attaches to your Motherboard

  • I'll get hard and attach to your motherboard.

  • MGS Soundtrack = WIN :D

  • perfect solution..... If quick mainterance was possible. great job!

  • err 10w40

  • o.o

  • nice nice, and to reply to ppl, no you cant put the hdd in oil because the viscosity of oil will severly hamper the performance of the drive, the air hole will also be blocked burning the drive.

  • if you were running a SSD instead of a HDD you can put it in the oil.

  • Just woundering about the hard drive, most people are getting results from ploping the hard drive right in, but im woundering ouldnt that slow the disc down inside it, making it run slower......??? thats the argument coming up about making computers oil systems. also its better to use mild mineral oil as it doesnt no smell and doesnt fuck ur computer up in the long run ^.^

  • 1)Why did you use veg oil, it will begin to break down after a while, and begin to smell... mineral oil is best.

    2) Have you had any problems with 'wicking' on the cables? Meaning, has the oil climbed the cables on the outside or inside, at all?

  • good and nice job ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • how is this possible?

  • the oil doesn't conduct electricity, therefor you won't get a short as you would with a substance that does contain ionic compounds within to conduct electricity.

  • hahah lol metal gear solid soundtrack

  • hey poster, you can put the hd too in the oil :)

  • not without clogging the air hole and burning out the drive you cant...so no

  • O_O

But can it work with the Stereo Amplifier?

  • this is great i ve done this 6 times for customers and they all says its amazing..... the only problem i have faced is the spark from the cord setting thwe oil on fire but if your not stupid then nothing happens and another thing is if you add Liquid nitrogen it stays at around -40C after 4 months cause the oil grabs the cold and keeps it in

  • Holy shit, that'd be fucking insane, wouldn't it freeze some of the metal?

  • not unless it gets around -150 then youde have problems but otherwise nope.....

  • @frappe666 and then you overclocked it hahaha

  • How are you battling the oil 'wicking' up the cables? I assume it gets messy?

  • Is nice this!, But i don't do this on Q9550 and 4gb ram g.skill and 4870 1gb too new system for put under minieral oil.

  • waht happend wen the oil reach burning temp

  • It doesnt...

  • frie computer LOL

  • I'm planning to do this to my new system. I'm also planning to OC it. Now over all, does this setup have a lot more advantage over air?

  • Yes, it's a very good advantage over air. Especially in OC'ed systems...runs great!

  • how does the oil not damage the chipset and other things

  • No, it doesn't. I have done this too.

  • does it damage pc over time

  • a mate has one with a fridge unit running at 3deg C

  • dat is metal gear solid muziek of niet?

  • How often does the oil need to be replaced?

  • the fans will burn out but if u put about 5 in a row then it would probably be ok

  • under oil? :O

    -33 celsius? XD

  • Can you deep fry chips in that? [/sarcasm]

  • why did you leave the fans it does int really need it because the oil makes it cool

  • lol ur right

  • leave 1 fan in there, take most out, 1 to circulate the oil :P

  • oil needs to circulate like um propeller on boat

  • That is amazing....

*knows what his next build will be*

  • This definitely deserves a WTF! moment.

  • Nice work. What is the music?

  • I think it's a track from Metal Gear SoLid

  • What the hell? Can you actually dip your computer into oil?

    Explain to me please! Loal!

  • i give ya props man, i love the ideal of mounting the mobo to the power supply to create a floating effect. im about to create a custom "tank" to put mine in only difference is i will have a open loop on it with actual water black on it so it constantly moves fresh oil across the main components. but liek i said i think its a bad ass ideal and if anythign it helps keep dust and noise down to a minimum.

  • lol fuck that my pc would blow up XD

  • WTF!?!?!? how a power supply in water an the fan, it would short circuit. but great idea if it really works. but hard to upgrade

  • Mineral Oil is NON-conductive

  • Haha awesome I have that fishtank for my fish!

  • Thats crazy that it doesnt short any of the parts.

  • crazy, that's a lot of oil

  • how is this possible? This is Alien technology?

  • yes.. yes it is :P

  • you could take the fans off their useless in the oil anyway

  • water cooled would be a better idea

  • You can't submerge a computer in water, even deionized, it will short out eventually.

  • i never said you could submerge it in water... do you even know what "water cooled" means? it doesnt mean submerging it in water...

  • thats just stupid

  • the capacitors both bulge over time and the oil inside and outside the capacitor diffuse and eventually it leaks. ***ive had capacitors leak and explode and ruining motherboards before***

  • only because u used your jizz instead of the oil

  • lol

  • @eggg102: You're either pretty dumb or an idiot. Large servers are cooled with oil. It's only important that you know which oil you use. Silicone oil is the best so far. Right after that normal mineral oil.

  • Unfortunately for you I'm neither, My comment was a reply to:

zeke01370. Go back and read his irrelevant comment. Youtube replies have always been glitchy, In that the actual reply hardly ever appears underneath the initial comment. So mind your business and eat shit, I am aware that some specialty computer equipment uses oil-cooling.

  • @eggg102: In this case I have to admit my fault. You're right aubout zeke01370, he lacks basic knowledge about the insulating effects of mineral oil.

  • He sure does lack knowledge, peace out bro

  • If by "YouTube comments are glitchy" you mean "Oops, I clicked the wrong Reply link," then your insolence has been mended.

Seriously, do we have to use the pissy thirteen-year-old boy response to everything?

"So mind your business and eat shit?" This comment is hardly a reasonable response to someone who is guilty of naught but an honest misunderstanding based on the incorrect location of your reply to another comment. Read in the context it appeared, your comment easily warrants such a reply.

  • guys, it can last for years. look it up there's already been alot of research into it.

the only problem is running games for hours on end the oil heats up

  • iol is gona seep into the capacitors and screw it up after about a few weeks

  • what do you think is in the capacitors? i dont think oil is allergic to itself.

  • This is a very retarded idea...thats all i will say. Plz post a response showing ur computer after the oil fucks it up

  • Some electronics are designed to run in oil.

Just got done installing cathodic protection on a pier...all the rectifiers were encased in oil...never seen a home puter built like that though.guess you wouldn't have to worry about overheating...kewl idea man.

  • gotta say, im with you on this one, you'd have to be a frickin idiot to put your machine in a tank full of oil

  • You can make wing dings while you game neato!

  • So i wonder if this would reduce power consumption??

  • That´s cool!!! I mean what the heck!?

    OIL!?

  • wow. i am surprised it works, i guess oil isn't conductive. great job!

  • I'm surprised if you are not getting interference from the power supply with no top, being right under the motherboard. The metal case of the PS will block harmful electromagnetic noise that could cause issues. (oil does not block electromagnetic waves)

  • hmmm... Very, very interesting... That must have took alot of experimentation. Props, man. Keep rockin.

  • You do realize whats gonna happen when you take out the oil................

  • Yeah its gonna run like a normal air cooled PC. Note the fan?

  • now stick ur hand in it

  • must need stronger fans to push round in the oil

  • soon companys will develop these sorts of cases for performance and noiseless pc users they are extremyl cool and new i bet 5 more years maximum and one will b released

  • Best use mineral oil rather than cooking oil, way more expensive but looks better and has the slight advantage of not rotting!

Also, fish won't survive it, so don't even think about it!

(Fish tank accessories like treasure might be fun though!)

  • So like you can Oil cool your ram? :D what happens if you keep it in there and its always on and wont the oil bubble?

  • if you add a radiator and pump it would make your temps heavenly and no oil problems

  • COOL!! geddit...oh well, maybe not then lol.

  • and wesor, your not supposed to have the fans in there and your also supposed to have like some sort of oil pump to circulate the oil.

  • no short circuit how

  • cause its not water. its mineral oil or something of the sort.

  • what do you think it is???

  • hahaha

  • Oh shit!!!

    Nice!!!

    *respect*

  • How long can you soak your PC in oil? Forever? Don't you suppose to remove the fans first?

  • cool you lot should check this video out

    "First Fully Submerged Aquarium PC"

  • that's pretty cool lmao, but I think liquid cooling is ok tillmaybe like 16 hours with 4gigs of gpu and 3.6ghz+ processor. Not sure how the harddrive worked in there :/

  • This music is from metal gear solid 3 not "the rock the film" ive seen the rock and played metal gear and this music is from metal gear.

  • dats tight!

  • If you wanted to know the sound track, its from The Rock. The Film.

  • use grease. and never change it.

  • The music in video, what is that?

  • sounds like rainbow six

  • krouton - It is by the Mandroid Wreckhearts, ken?

  • That I don't know, sorry.

  • That wasn't a question, I was stating a fact. Do you like the cookie-ness of this kind of video?

  • I prefer the aquarium version. Don't you?

  • krouton - Im not sure. Why do you prefer it?

  • lol, this sounds like an automated bot conversation

  • The Rock, the film.

  • Code - Why do you cuss this video?

  • What you talking about?

  • Code - I was just asking why?

  • looks so retarded with cooking oil use mineral oil ppl

  • its gonna do nothing but heat itself, using a different lamp and circulating the oil through a external cooler will significantly reduce temps.

  • I doubt it will improve performance CPU and GPU, don't you think it will slow down fan speed?

  • ofcourse it wont improve the performance just by submerging the cpu in oil..

the point of doing that is too keep cool the CPU GPU and chipsets from overheating(so dont worry about the fans).

keeping them cool means safe to overclock and doin that whats make it perform better!

  • Do u have to change the oil or not??:@

  • what he uses probably but if he used mineral oil than not really.

  • You should get out this lamp. You're heating the oil.

Get a color catode instead and place it at the bottom.

  • ICE DA BITCH XD

  • Nice job

  • kool thats what i want to do with my xbox 360

  • too bad, they might be blue ring.

  • what happens when you come to upgrade? eh? thought about that? sticky time :P. gunna put a drainer bit on it? also.. i hope a cable pops out lmfao :D

  • Thats fucking disguisting

  • how many miles between oil changes??

  • lol, approx 3 lol

  • WOW! Nicely built! How long have it been working now? Ive heard of plastic detoriation on the cabels if its in veg. oil for more than 2months...

  • wow thats amazing i heard of it before but i didnt think u actually submerged the components in the oil. i would think that none of the componets would work since their all soaked why is that

  • I'd love to see some benchmarks.

Why do People make videos like this without benchmarks? How can we tell just how good this thing cools and if it's better than say just Water cooling...

  • It's the main theme to MSG3:Snake Eater

  • can someone say me the title of soundtrack this movie?
