its actually Beetle engine taken out to 2276cc or 139ci, Garret TO4s turbo with a 750CFM Demon. I know the camaro runs a BBC, but i cant remember the exact cube.

It's weight and gear ratios. The VW transmission has some of the shortest gears ever compared to other cars. Stick a strong 2.0 Liter motor in it and you're rolling death. That Camaro would have to spend $30,000 to overcome that. LOL.
You could be right, maybe not $30,000 maybe less... that Camaro sounds like it has a Powewrglide tranny , it only has 2 gears, perhaphs it could do better with a different tranny. something like a Turbo 400 tranny and good gears ration ,could do some improving. Yeah - the bug hit 140. Avg. 1/4 mile it topped 143.9 mph. 10.0's spinning the entire length of the track & shutting down in 3rd gear. It was a fun ride.

Yup...Bugs rock in racing...hard to beat them....really hard. Some can go as low as 8 seconds in the 1/4.
Mine was 1876 cc supped up and it ran 13.5 in the 1/4...ah, I miss my '76 Super Beetle.
