Amir Khan, Prince Nazim Hamed and Ricky Hatton were all unbeaten world champions when they stayed with Frank Warren because they all fought handpicked bums. As for Bhops I thought Bhops controlled the pace of the fight. Yeh he was breathing heavy at the end but Bhops is 44 yrs old! & the low blow definatley looked low whether it was hard or not is another story(any guy will tell u u don't have to be hit hard on the nuts for it to hurt). He was showboating he was doing that at the v last second of the fight I think, & hits Joe wiv a big punch

Thats exactly what he did. He outworked Hopkins, threw more and landed more. Then people said how old and shot Hopkins was, before he went and danced around Kelly Pavlik, beating the shit out of him at will.
The same Kelly Pavlik people said would KO Calzaghe in a round 3 years ago.

I totally beg to differ! I think Calzaghe's fight wiv Sheika was v controversial indeed! It was hardly a 1 sided fight! Sheika was really pumped up & came to fight, was a really game competative oppanent & Calzaghe was hardly beating him up it was give & take. 2 of the judges had the fight 39-37 to Calzaghe. Sheika was cut yes, but they weren't bad cuts at all, he cud see perfectly well, Calzaghe buzzed him a likkle in the fifth & he comes right back at Calzaghe, toe2toe & the ref jumps in!

but sheika didnt land, think of his best moment when he really went for broke and had calzaghe in the corner... now watch it slowly... he didnt land one good punch, calzaghe bounced off the ropes and landed 3.
calzaghe outclassed sheika, who did come to fight, and did look good, but he was just far too crude and played into calzaghes hands.
even if it wasnt stopped, look at those cuts! fucking horrendous, they were deep too, he was a bloody mess. either way, he was losing that fight.

If u compare those cuts to sum of Gatti's, Benns or Michael Katsidis cuts it's just a scratch. He definatley cud have fought on, he wasn't on point of no return.

I do have respect for Calzaghe, but I dunno why he did wat he did. There were plenty of fights out there for him to take instead he chose to fight a washed up, waaaaay past his best(already Kod) RJJ for easy money.
Froch, Miranda, Abraham, Taylor, Pavlik, Bute, Glen Johnson, Clinton Woods, Dawson, Tarver. Even Bhops in a rematch, who he turned down for millions & millions of Dollars in Cardfiff, where Bhops stated he wod come to fight & come to KO Calzaghe & Calzaghe like those opponants!

Froch? He wasn't even a champ when Calzaghe retired. Johnson? lost to Sheika who got to fight Calzaghe instead and got decimated, years ago. B-Hop priced himself out back in 2003, and RJJ himself said back then that Calzaghe was too high risk low reward.

....The Sheika fight wiv Johnson was v controversial indeed. The ref gave Sheika a knockdown which clearly wasn't one. B-hops priced himself out cos he had the chance of fighting other guys for triple the amount of money like Trinidad. He lost a v close decision to Calzaghe at the age of 43(I thought Bhops won). I think Calzaghe cud have fought Jones he just didn't want to.

Nothing controversial about Calzaghe beating the shit out of Sheika and stopping him in 5 though.
Hopkins controlled the first part of the fight. But I thought, and Manny Stewart aswell, that as the fight goes on, Calzaghes rhythm and workrate would tell.
Call them slaps and point scoring punches, but Hopkins wasn't showboating, windmilling his arms, or connecting with Calzaghe at will like he did so easily to Pavlik.
Well then, why say Calzaghe ducked him when Hopkins didn't take it

I am not a fan of the British but the fact that that British whiteboy Joe Calzaghe destroyed the young World Champion Jeff Lacy so conssumately when Joe was in his late thirties is quite incredible. He then became the Undisputed Super-Middleweight Champion of the World, and quite deservedly so.
Gotta admire the guy for beating the great Bernard Hopkins in a completely different weight division too, just months before Hopkins dismantled Kelly Pavlik.
He ain't know Roy Jones, but he good.

Bad judging desicions gave him a victory againt 43 year old Hopkins.

Even if Hopkins did get beat by Haye, at least Hopkins showed some courage by sticking around and trying to get the most of his ability rather than retiring early to avoid getting beaten. In reference to Jones Jnr, Calzaghe writes: "I would never want to fight him now. He's not the same fighter and I'd have nothing to gain by beating the shadow of what he once was." After the book was published, and following wins over Mikkel Kessler and Hopkins, Calzaghe did sign to fight Jones Jnr only he suddenly started to call him an "all-time legend" and built the fight up as a real test.
