@ProstatePlunder i think the guys on here got upset because i didn't reverse the bit where the strap button is, so the main part of the vibrato is up off the body a bit. it made NO difference to the guitar AT ALL, of course.
Whats the diff between the VIBROLA and the MAESTRO trems? Seems like from what I've seen then are the same thing? I have a black custom shop epi with this same tremelo.. Nice instrument
Hagus is correct, you've mounted it wrong. The plate should be flush with the body. I should know as I own the "real thing" a 1967 Gibson SG Standard.
hey man i got one of those mestros from all parts an you have fitted it wrong i almost made the same mistake the bit u attached to the tail of the guitar goes onto the body of the guitar under the large plate if this isnt explained well enough jst gives a shout an ill explain in more detail.
hi rockers I wanna get a new e-guitar and I was thinking of an epi g-400 OR the vintage vs6 I wanna make the right choice.P.S. :great playing, angus =the best guitarist and you're on the right path)
@MrRockGod100 angus who? i'm just playing rock/blues...
kidding. Angus rocks. the epi and vintage are very similar, and it's a hard question to answer - impossible without being subjective.
i had a G400 and hated it, but that was a bad example of the g400. my vintage vs6 was awesome (even more after i added the vibrato) but that could have been a great example of the vs6.
Hi, great guitar, good tone, superb vibrato system, but I don't understand how is this vibrato working. Does it have springs ? If not, how it gets back in tune ?
i have a vs6 not a bad guitar for the money i payed about £160 for mine brand new with the vox ad30vt though it sounds shit unless u change the pick ups to something that suits the amp or change the speaker in the amp
could ya do a vid on how to install it? ive got an allparts vibrola just like that coming in the mail but im putting it on my epiphone sg. If you dont have the time to do a whole vid, could ya send me some instructions or tips?
hey dude i was jsut wondering, does the vibrola really make your guitar go out of tune faster?? oh and is the gibson vibrola any better in quality than a normal unengraved vibrola?
hi - no it doesn't really make the guitar go out of tune faster unless you're going crazy with it. the thing to remember is it isn't a floyd rose. and regarding the gibson vibrola, this is exactly the same but without the lyre engraving.
it has the compressed sound due to the same wood and size. it's as close as you will get for the price, and imho it beats the epiphone version hands down.
yeah, i hate it when people don't reply. you took the time to watch the vid and ask a question regarding it, it's only fair to answer it. cheers for watching!
nah, i got the part from ebay - a guy bought it but didn't install it in the end. it's pretty self explanatory though. you know where it's meant to go, and you try and put it there...
i'd do it better a second time, but i'm a lot better with guitars nowadays :o)
hey mann, your guitar is a sexy little number, nicce one. I've got an Epiphone G400 Worn Brown Sg, and im just about to buy a Vintage VS6 Vintage White SG, its reall nice and is only £159, pretty cheap!
see i'm biased as i had a really bad G400 - it just didn't feel right, whereas my vs6 did (i just sold it - i'm a les paul man at heart, apparently). the vs6 is a GREAT guitar in my opinion, and i'd love to hear your thoughts on that and the g400 when you get it. cheers!
was it easy to install? I'm thinking of installing one of these on my Epiphone G-400 custom, to go with my other G-400 which has a custom made heavy duty trem on it!
yeah, it's a really thin electroplated layer. it doesn't make any difference to the sound, not like removing the cover does. and the epi flying v is the best thing epi make, in my humble opinion. i love it!
Hi, i can see how you installed the maestro vibrola...are you sure that the end of the tailpiece(this plate with 4 holes) it goes in the part where the strapholder is?...cause it looks weird to me i've seen others that don't look the same...
hi - yeah, the end part with the four pins has a semi circular space so it fits round the strap button. the main thing to remember is that this isn't a Gibson so the dimensions of the guitar body will almost certainly be out slightly, so the vibrola won't be a 100% perfect fit
i just got my maestro from allparts and the end with the four pins rotates so you turn it inwards then drill in to the top of the guitar not by the strap button. If you do it that way it acually hits the body of the guitar.
if you want divebombs, i agree. if you want a nice 60's shimmery vibrato, the maestro is fine. plus it gives the guitar a nice feel. and floyds are a REAL pain in the arse to set up... :o)
i dno i can divebomb with mine on my firebird n it stays in tune great (after takin a beating playing out in the fields) and when im doing steve vain things its a great trem from my experience but i had a go of a 71 sg n that didnt stay welll so i think theyre supposed to be set up like or im just lucky :)

i have an epi sg with the maestro. have you had any problems with the tension of the tremolo wearing out compared to other spring tension tremolos. just curious I'm almost afraid to use mine.
when i was looking at doing this mod i read a lot of comments and talked to people who had this type of tremolo, as i thought the same thing.
i've talked to people who've used their original '62 SGs with maestros heavily for over 40 years, and the tension is still fine - i didint find anyone who'd worn theirs out, although i suppose it is technically possible. i'd say that the only thing to remember is that it isn't a floyd rose!
aces, thanks for clarifying. i was using a setting that sounded more AC/DC so people could get a bit of the angus feeling.
i don't own this amp anymore, i got a couple of valve (or tube, depending on whrer you are) amps, and am having fun... makes it harder to do demo videos though - the wattage overloads the camera...

How vibrato holds dive bombs?
SparcoC4 3 weeks ago
the REAL question is......How well does it stay in-tune after using the vibrola a bit???? I've been told they suck at staying in tune.

if you put it where the stopbar goes, it should be on the right way. some people are just dick holes who think they know everything in the universe

yo uscrew it down and onto the side where the strap button, essentially.
i recommend the Maestro, it's a vibrato with a lot of character.

hi - yeah, the end part with the four pins has a semi circular space so it fits round the strap button. the main thing to remember is that this isn't a Gibson so the dimensions of the guitar body will almost certainly be out slightly, so the vibrola won't be a 100% perfect fit

the bit that goes on the strap button is a fixed 90 degree angle, but this is the allparts reissue of the system
