  • is this with a plugin or just lightwave?

  • @pokealong1227 in description

  • @Xurgonic it takes longer to type "in description" than "no plugins"

  • @pokealong1227 Theres more info.

  • @Xurgonic didn't care about the more info, was just curious if there was a plugin or not because i got sent here from a fumeFX video

  • @pokealong1227 So glad for you! Is there anything else I can help you with?

  • i am going to do this. Just you watch! i am obsessed with lightwave. Very nice scene. very very nice!

  • sick

  • that's Allstate stands... r u n good hands?

  • Thank you for pointing me and the info

  • you wouldn't have a tut floating around somewhere would ya?

  • @KDArtz Will PM some links to you. A child emitter emits particles from particles emitted by the a parent emitter. Your 1st emitter is the fuel that squirts a narrow spray over a distance, & has no HVs. The fire is your 2nd emitter, parented to the 1st, with Nozzle set to Parent Emitter. The 2nd emitter is cloned for separate smoke HVs. Search 'fire', 'flamethrower' topics on Newtek forum. There are tips from me and others, & a fire tut by Karlieman.

  • can you make a tutorial please, i cant find any flame thrower tutorials

  • Cars probably thinking, "Fuck this I'm outta here"

  • wow with not plugins! Bad ass. I could of sworn you used a plugin.

  • great effect....what was the render time?

  • I dont recall back then. Right now, the fire and smoke are rendering in 6 seconds per frame on a 3.2gh, 8-thread.

  • :OOO

  • amazing!!!!

  • Man you inspired me to do something like that! Your video helped alot. Thanks.

I must say not alot of people do give credit to Lightwave's already powerful hypervoxels.

  • What program did you use?

  • Very impressive! A tutorial would be appreciated =)

  • Nice effects, all you need now is have someone who is a physics person to help direct you. 5/5

  • thats a freaking good effect!!!!!!

  • ok how did you get the particles to emit light?

  • Lightwave can use the luminosity of the voxels as a light source by enabling the tracing of Radiosity (Global Illumination).

  • Wow I never knew it was that simple.. Thanks!

  • In the old days, I would use FX_Link to parent point lights to all the particles. :-)

  • Trying to get my particles to emit light but no go.

  • Enable 'Volumetric Radiosity' in the Global Illum tab. For some reason, this defaults to disabled in LW96.

  • Ahhh.. Thanks so much.

  • You should make that car explode at the end.

  • talk about burning rubber!

  • really nice flames!

  • Pretty impressive! I didn't know you could get that kind of effect out of hypervoxels.

  • damn thats some smexy looking cg fire nice work man

  • Do you have a tutorial?

  • WOW! great job!

  • just amazing! this boosted my confidence since i just started learning it

  • That's dope. I had no idea Lightwave

had that realistic of a particle system.

Well...I don't know much about Lightwave

    period. That looks pretty sweet.

  • wow thats hot!!!!! lol

  • Very cool. Lightwave's come a long way since I stopped using it and switched to Max. :P

  • iSOBigD i think lightwave is just as good as 3ds max at the moment....

  • very nice, looks like a mix of cloth and hv though I can't figure out how you would get it to break up and stick to the truck.

  • This is done with Lightwave's native particles and hyper voxels. No cloth, and no plugins. Look at "Flamethrower - Lightwave FX - wireframe" on YouTube. Stick and friction values used on truck collision object to make particles semi-stick but also partly slide off.

  • nice! very realistic

  • Your flamethrower effect is extremely amazing. The most realistic one I've seen done in LW.

I would love to know how you did that XP

or at least some tips on how i can go about acheiving something like this :D

  • Look up 'fire smoke fx with voxels' on the Newtek forum to see better examples and advice on dealing with LW FX from my years of experience. More PFX and HV advice and examples in 'LW 9.3 Flame Thrower Flames' and 'tornado' threads.

  • Good job on the fire! Probably the best I've seen using native LW!

  • no plugins

  • I'd love to know how you set it up. I'm the primary FX guy working on a tv show in production. a setup like that would come in handy for a few shots I have.

  • really cool. was it all native particles? or did you use a plug in. if it was native I'd love to see the particle setup, and voxel settings.

  • no plugins
