  • Honestly I find Ceser Romero's Joker to be more convincing than heath ledger's, I mean you can see he takes the role a little more seriously than Ledgers. Have you even heard his laugh I swear I was hearing the laugh of a madman.

  • 0:52 - 0:54 would be a great forum weapon. You can't beat an argument like that!

  • Pretty fluid animation imo.

  • lol for a moment there he turned into jelly :D

  • He can dodge bullets but he can't dodge fists ?

  • I love the music used in this pilot.. some of the greatest batman related .. anything.. was in the 90's..

  • This is so cool. But I like how the series turned out instead of this :)

  • @Blballerboy yeah, but i still rather batman TAS than the batman or brave & the bold shits. I also like the version of batman that appears in young justice

  • @grunkel666 Shame the joker in young justice sucks so much... i guess cause they could not get Mark Hamill..

  • @Lianas1980 yeah, i guess. But hey, nothing is perfect. By the way, do u know if YJ was cancelled? cuz i can´t find the show anymore in tv

  • So much squash and stretch

  • Yeah the other one they used is more exciting than this good waste of talent

  • the best animated version of batman EVER!!! fuck the batman, fuck brave & bold!!

  • @grunkel666 I think once you realize what The Batman, and brave and the bold are trying to acheive(a diffrent version of batman, and a oldschool 50s-60s comic turned cartoon) They arnt that bad of animations, in fact, most of the people that worked on the original batman animated series, worked on "The Batman" also.

  • The animation reminds me of Animaniacs.

  • Looks like a disney animation :D

  • Nowadays Batman wouldn't tap the guy's shoulder, he'd just muffle him from behind and slam his face into the ground.

  • you can hit batman all you want but at the end of the day he will still kick your ass and be home in time for tea

  • dogding bullets a bit overkill :P

  • This REALLY holds up!! The animation is amazingly smooth!!

  • His face in the shadows reminded me of one of those Ren and Stimpy extreme closeups.

  • Barmans chin taught his fist a lesson

  • it looks soooo new!!!!! this really held up.

  • You Kind Sir Just Made My DAY!

  • dodging bullets was silly smh. he dodged bullets but caught fists to the face?

  • wen did this comeout???

  • @bigdave6633 this was test animation for the original BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. It was basically a way of showing how it "could" look, though certain elements were changed for the final product. This is obviously more polished than a normal animated series would be at the time. I remember seeing this right after Tim Burton's BATMAN movie came out, and being VERY excited about the series.

  • Now we know where the intro came from, most of it anyways

  • Ugh, all the movements are so extremely exaggerated

  • @WhiterThanYall yeah, it's a pilot. It was a prototype. they were ironing out the kinks.

  • Cigarettes, guns, I miss the days when kids weren't treated like idiots.

  • i so badly want to like this show and watch it, but i think it's just a little bit too dated for my taste :( it makes me sad :P

  • @jonvegard31 do it for the hell of it. what can go wrong?

  • @Mangaka463 same i thought, so i downloaded it and it was all crap files. do you maybe have a link?

  • @jonvegard31 sadly I do not. i think the only way you can watch it these days is to buy the DVDs.

but honestly, check out animated series Mr. Freeze. the show set the true standard for him

  • @Mangaka463 nice, nice. i will definitely watch it now

  • I love how the shot of batman holding the crook by the red tie looks almost like he's drinking his blood or something. That was no color coincidence. that was carefully planned.

  • Awesome to the infinite degree

  • 1:17

    Press Counter, dammit!

  • so this is where the intro comes from!

  • This is the kind of show kids should be watching today: the kind that makes the wet the bed at night. The kind were the bad guys used real bullets and all of the characters had the perfect voice for their character. Just saying.

  • So this is a pilot from 2004... for a show that came out in 1992... Makes a lot of sense.

  • @itsdavideo nah they released the pilot into 2004 but it was from like 91 or someshit

  • @Remery05 It could just be me but the animation just seems way too modern to be the pilot. And Bruce Timm stated that "On Leather Wings" was the pilot episode for the show.

  • @itsdavideo mmm yeh maybe but the animation for the actuall series was pretty much the same as this so who knows

  • @itsdavideo there is more than just one "greenlight" that things like shows and games go through. First is the pitch. this, was the pitch to Warner Brothers. once warner brothers gave them the go ahead, they made the pilot episode, to see if the series would be greenlit to continue production on a full season, or not. we only see the second greenlight though usually. Mega man legends 3 is a good example on that process. The Prototype was greenlit to see if the game would be greenlit as a whole.

  • So he can dodge bullets, but not a punch?

  • @AUpshaw85 Perhaps, it's more like he doesn't see the need to. :)

  • @AUpshaw85 smaller item vs bigger item

  • @AUpshaw85 He doesn't even try to dodge the punches. He just takes them and pummels the guy. Probably to give him some false hope. "Oh, hey, I hit him in the face twice! Yeah, go me... oh crap, he's still coming!"

  • @AUpshaw85 Lmaoo they were probably tryna show he can take a hit

  • @AUpshaw85 he can. He just doesn't give a shit, because he's the goddamn Batman.

  • @Erikdevable Exactly! He was just hitting the bad guys fist with his chin! Batman has jowls of steel! I feel bad for that guy's hand.

  • @AUpshaw85 Just like Superman who can take bullets, but needs to dodge a gun.

  • Is this Batman, or the Matrix?

  • Who did the audio restoration on this? I have a dvd set that put this to the main theme and claimed the original audio was lost.

  • Dat super-detailed face.

  • Comment removed

  • the bats!

  • Ok he dodged bullets like a g batman rules but if he was dodging bullets then how come he didn't dodge dudes punches

  • This must have been one of Bats' first adventures. He didn't bother to dodge that punch and he didn't do his mystery disappearance thing he usually does.

  • the animation looks more like tiny toons

  • Dodge bullets.. LIKE A BOSS :D

  • Neo???!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING DRESSED UP AS BATMAN???!!

  • He's pretty good at DODGING BULLETS!!!!!???

  • Dude that close-up at 0:52 is creepy o_o;

  • i wish bats could dodge bullets in arkham asylum

  • So is this really supposed to be the original audio for the pilot, cause on the DVD it says that the original audio became lost, and the audio here is defiantly different. But if it is, then why is the DVD copyright at the end?

  • I loved thar opening so much damn better than in The Animated Series.

  • some (not all) of the animation looks actually more fluent than in the series. :p but i love batman tas, best cartoon of all time!

  • From what i've seen on the comments this is a pilot test? Was it before during or after the series first aired in the 90's?

  • press 4 lol

  • Comment removed

  • The survivor got a good exhaustive beatin with the lead hero. Remember 18 and Starscream exit 1st before 17

  • 0:53... You know you're pre-raped when you see this.

  • 'Batman: Year One The animated series'

  • Hm, I think this one is cooler, but the other one has merit also...

  • Just keep hitting 4

  • 0:57 Holly Shit, is batman or spiderman in a suit of bat, it's amazing

  • Well the main reason why this series changed the opening is to make and emphasize Batman faster and an efficient crime fighter. Though he dodged bullets here, he's overall lookin sickly and truly powerless here

  • holy shit! I mean this is like the opening for the regular show, but my god the animation is so smooth!

  • im part of the new generation and i grew up waching this show and compred to the crap on tv this is just a masterpiece i wonder sometimes if growing up with this show made me a better person cause i wasent watching all the other dumb shows on tv.

  • never noticed it..but ism't it a bit creepy how the refernce it is, like vampires sucking the blood of their victim how Batman is pulling the guy grom his tie..and this one is Red...intresting and creepy ..right?

  • Sure, dodge the bullet, fuck the fist.

  • 0:57 I didn't know Batman was Agent Smith.

  • this was a pilot for the cartoon, i remember watching it on channel 11, this is when cartoons were good back in the day.

  • @BoomyKnight there was better animation and it just made batman look scary

  • this theme sucked compared to the original

  • IS THIS THE ORIGINAL MUSIC?

  • @evilspike13 yes it is. THe version i have uses the main theme

  • @SilverReverend I thought batman forever was ok, i don't hate any of them, they have qualities even Batman and Robin because it was so funny My least favorite is still Batman and Robin My favorite is either Batman (1989) or The Dark Knight

  • Who Killed the Dark Knight

  • idiot...you DO NOT hit Batman!!

  • i don't know which is better Batman TAS or Batman & Robin 1997 movie. Can someone please help me

  • @david2000magic The only help you need is from a psychiatrist because that movie sucks!! And the animated series set a new tone for the way heroes were animated while Batman & Robin killed the Batman movie franchise for the better part of a decade

  • @Hippy576 loool you can't even take a freakin' joke !!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @Hippy576 but Arnold Schwarzenager was so funny

  • @david2000magic let me put it in a simple way

    Batman TAS-EPIC

    Batman & Robin-SHIT

  • Who would win between Batman and The Punisher?

  • @Dante95nyc chances are the Punisher, but Batman does have a chance either way it'll be one hell of a fight. Just to let you know, they do have crossover issues with Batman v. The Punisher (never read any of them btw)

  • @AbeVegaJr I think Batman wins from what I heard.

  • @Dante95nyc If we make it an aspect of really fighting head on, I'm saying The Punisher. I am a big Batman fan, but The Punisher would understand Batman's techniques, and really use them to his advantage. But we all know they wouldn't fight, no they would sorry because well analyze this pretty much Red Hood is a miniature Punisher, but different qualities.

  • @AbeVegaJr Sorry let me correct myself, They would fight becaue Batman doesn't like gunsmen, and he'd really not allow anyone to kill the Joker with force, guns and whatnot. He's not that kind of person, so they would fight. The victor I aint certain..possible draw if they come to an understanding.

  • @AbeVegaJr I guess you can say that, I mean he did take out the Marvel Universe, but I am still going with Batman.

  • I always kind of imagined this scene being during Batman's first time crimefighting with his actual costume on (if you see Mask of the Phantasm, you'll see what I mean). And Gordon's first time seeing him, too.

  • 1:12, Why does he walk like Robocop?

  • @cigarchopper to be intimerdating

  • I can see why this didn't get picked up. Batman dodging bullets like spiderman? Come on now and on top of that batman putting up a bad fight with a common hood. Please.

  • @smoking1212 This did get picked up. This is just a test of animation to see how a modern Batman cartoon would look. The animated series came shortly after executives saw this.

  • @pytko3 I know that I mean im glad they didnt uses this as the opener to the show.

  • @smoking1212 My point is , this isn't meant to be part of the show at all. It is test to see what they could do animation-wise when it comes to fighting scenes, action shots, close ups, reaction shots, special effects, and facial expressions. For a test, it looks pretty damn smooth.

  • @pytko3 ..and this is Warner bros. They're no slackers when it comes to the animation department. :)

  • @smoking1212 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • batman is in the matrix he is the ONE

  • they should just cut Batman: Brave and The Bold and have an HD series version of this!

  • Not a bad start, though.

  • I actually wanted to become a super hero growing up. Except I would be carrying a gun and a mask but then I thought about it and then I would probably be mistaken for a bank robber and get shot up by the police.

  • Anyone else notice the Tiny Toon-like animation? still, i prefer the series style animation, it gives a more adult-focus to the cartoon...

  • lmao at 0:57

  • That was extremely exaggerated and cartoonish...

  • i love those buildings and most of all the font in which almost every thing is written with

  • @WHATISDIZ yeah the art deco style is beautiful

  • the only problem i have with this is the dodging every single bullet fired at him thing while standing in place. it just made it extremely unrealistic. dude is fast enough to avoid bullets but he can't evade a guy's punches?

  • They really had music from the 1989 film in the intro?; Cool.

  • this is not the pilot episode,it's the promo for the pilot.

  • Why is Batman playing dodgeball with bullets and allowing the thug to land a few punches? That's just silly. Asking for trouble, really.

  • I am SO glad that the episodes didn't turn out like this. The over-the-top animation is awful, it doesn't communicate how serious it is in any way. I'm definitely glad that this pilot started what it did, though.

  • Хорошая анимация, но бэтмен здесь какой-то неуклюжий

  • K bueno k no dejaron este opening...xD

  • this isn't the pilot, it's the demo reel, what Bruce Timm and Co. gave to the Studio big heads to show 'em what they could do

  • Well... it does have a little "old Superman cartoon" feel.

  • The movements are so exaggerated LOL

  • Thats how you make a comic cartoon for kids.

  • SPIDER-MAN! 0:56

Also, I thought that tie was batman pulling out the dude's guts at first. hehe. 1:47

  • @ZalmarMarkee

oops - the tie is at 0:47

    Pardon my idiocy.

  • @ZalmarMarkee

    batman - 1939

    spider-man - 1962

    which means spider-man copies batman.

  • cop: who was that?

    gordon: just some nut...

  • So, let me get this straight: we can catch this pilot at the start of every Animated Series episode?

  • @SilentStalkerX

No, it was the original animated series opening but they changed it

  • @batmanpms

I know, but it's very similar in plot, style and action as the opening itself. 2(even the same number) robbers appear and Batman is alerted. He takes down one of the easily while the second one puts up a fight. The police comes and see the 2 robbers taken down as Batman silently watches over the city.

  • @SilentStalkerX

Yes they just took out the color, and changed a view snips such as the tapping the guy on the shoulder. I really enjoy that they made it in color!

  • Be honest, who here hasn't ever fantasized of doing this? You know...dressing up in a kick ass Batsuit and jumping around rooftops of buildings beating up bad guys...

  • @yue12321 intanto egli ha anche una tecnologia della m******* cose ke neanke bill gates si immagina

e mo vieni te e dici ke uno dei più grandi supereroi è na fregna?????????

  • @yue12321 ever since i was 2 years old

  • @yue12321 Nah, too much training. Just jogging around the block is too much for me. And I need my sleep.

  • @yue12321 ill wait for the game thx lol

  • They don't make cartoons like this anymore. :(

  • its funny how his bat boomarang thing is SO SHARP, but it never cuts ppl's hand off... NOT ONCE!!! not even a scratch!!!

  • This is the show that made everyone love Batman not the Justice Friends and spiffy boy wonder Robin

  • Batman's pummeling that guy's fists with his face!

  • wtf batman cant go matrix on bullets

  • 1:35 - seriously, that is NOT how a superhero jumps, looked really silly XD

Also love that Gordon gets the only line in the entire scene ^^

Anyway, keeping in mind its a pilot, its interesting to see what they emphasized on, and how much of the pilot made it into the intro for the final series. Also love that it was apparently meant to be as dark as it became right from the start.

An interesting watch, even if a bit quirky at times :P

  • The movements are a bit too exaggerated. It looks like a pantomime. I'm glad that they toned that down for the actual series.

  • that was pretty unrealistic when Batman was dodging those bullets like that.

  • That's right folks, Batman is so cool he can dodge bullets but not a punch to the face

  • @VonZalazar Lmao!

  • okay sure I can dodge bullets but I can't dodge a punch at 1:17 oh well I'll still kick his ass.

  • it must be hard bein that bad ass huh bats

  • this SUCKS....WHERE IS THE TRUE BATMAN????

  • this SUCK....WHERE IS THE TRUE BATMAN????

  • This show seemed better when I was five.

  • this is shit

  • They should have kept the cape gliding ability.

  • This cartoon was real and deep to me!!

  • I know who is Batman, there is only one person who can dodge bullets head on - Neo from the Matrix.

  • @Andragorans batman would give neo one hell of a spanking

  • @Andragorans actually he can't dodge bullets, because the bullets in the Matrix are not real. Remember the scene were Neo meets the boy who bends spoons, and the boy tells him, the spoon isn't really there. "There is no spoon" so there are no bullets. lol Batman kicks ass in real life, Neo basically kicks ass at playing the most complex video game ever made. Batman would break Neo in half.

  • @ATENakaATON ....Im speechless, thanks for taking a joke so seriously.

  • @Andragorans this is why you don't mess with Batman, not Neo, not Superman, not even Chuck Norris. Batman kicks ass and now you know it.

  • @ATENakaATON Aaaaa... Im not sure how to reply to that, but - Batman is my number 1 super hero (even without super powers) and I don't know what are youu, anyway - just drop it. I have no idea what were you trying to say with your last comment, nor with the one before that.

  • @Andragorans the point is, Batman would whip Neo, SuperMan, and even Chuck Norris's ass. That's it. I think you might be taking this too serious, you really don't need to explain to me how much you like Batman, just talk smack, make a joke, and move on. If your not taking this serious, then your humor just sucks Joker scrotum. That there was some good advice, Your welcome!

iiiIIIIllllll AAAAAAMMMM BBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTMMMMAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN> DUH DUM HMMM MHHHH (that's the theme music)

  • @ATENakaATON ??? I made a joke by saying he is Neo because he dodged bullets?? and u fell offended somehow and backep up Batman...DUDE - you seriously have issues. I still don't get where are you going with all of this but don't reply anymore. I have a feeling I am replying to a brainfucked person. I think youtube shouldn't be accessible to all psychoes.

    P.S

    Don't reply anymore.

  • @Andragorans actually you typed something along the lines of, only Neo can dodge bullets and I pointed out in fact Neo never dodged bullets since they were not real. Then I proceeded to pump up the greatness of BATMAN!(theme music kicks in) Now you say I'm not all there up stairs, yet you keep responding. So how sane would someone be if they continue to converse with someone they don't have to when they don't want to because they think the other is crazy? OWNED! Why so SERIOUS?(Joker laughs)

  • They should've remade this scene as his first appearance in Gotham

  • he can dodge bullets?

  • @randy72186 Ha! slow it down a bit more and he'd be Neo
