Conservatives failed because they are no longer fiscally conservative; as long as you are against abortion and gay marriage, you can claim to be conservative. Conservatives are supposed to work for smaller government, and these "neocons" want government to be just as big and more intrusive than the liberals.

Just look at Bush, he has expanded the federal government more than any liberal president, and civil liberties and individual rights were the first victims. Can anyone honestly believe that giving the government more of our responsibilities can have different results? Can anyone give examples of more government involvement solving any problem?
