  • La mejor banda que ha existido... Definitivamente, cuando veo estos videos no me cambio por nadie!

  • Does anyone know the name of this extraordinary fiddler?

  • @Odiseo2 Kevin Burke

  • This is what heaven sounds like in the spring.

  • Beautiful! Does anyone know anything about Martin Mynne?

  • @zenreeful yes he was a IRA explosive expert who works for oxfam :)

  • I agree with all of the mentioned bands as examples of greatness, but please don't forget Dervish.

  • Agree these guys have never been topped. Altan and Lunasa are close behind though...

  • @rfdarsie they are far behind

  • Thanks Bilko1234 for the amazing collection of music you've posted.

I've been playin guitar a good few years now and have only recently fallen for trad.Didn't know where to start but Mícháel Ó Domhnaill grabbed my attention straight away, absolutely love this tune.Anybody out there got any tips on playin it?(on guitar that is)

  • @danstaun tune your guitar to DADGAD from the top down, follow his shapes and then feel the music man!!

  • @oneofmanykinseys better still just dont play guitar it just dont feel right in this music and i love the bothy band but jesus save me from guitar players

  • @oneofmanykinseys better still just dont play guitar it just dont feel right in this music and i love the bothy band but jesus save me from guitar players they are the most anal retentive assholes who love themselves more than the music they play just fuck off

  • @omarshinken So you don't like guitarists then? I was only explaining what tuning Micheal was in to help someone that was curious. If you don't like guitarists in music or specifically traditional what music do you listen to? Ironic you would stereotype a whole section of people (i.e. guitarists) when it appears that you are the anal retentive asshole that loves his opinion.

  • @oneofmanykinseys very funny i will remember that next time i climb of your mother lol

  • @omarshinken I genuinely thought you were going to come back with some form of educated reply, instead you play the mother card. Sure sign of someone without the mental capacity to conduct any form of discussion.

  • bloody good and so near if not spot on to studio results....memories!!

  • @richardyingren you know i was just thinking this same thought its really amazing they never even plan how they would arrange their music this is proof of the skill of real irish musicians they just play and feel the way to expressing the tune fantastic!

  • Locomotive, you are correct... such impeccable timing can only come from months of practice.

    Yet they seem so young....

The contemporary group, Danu, seems almost as good at an equally young age.

  • The fluency is from many years of practice. The impeccable timing is probably as much inherited as trained.

  • RickM5199 - practice!!

  • It's like speed metal to an Irish folk lover.

  • *Longford Tinker (durrrr sorry)

  • Absolutely spellbinding chord progression through the A part in the Jolly Tinker (2nd tune)

  • Ah sure they haven't aged a day. They have the magic.

Paddy is playing so good and here and just as good if not better now

    Buchus le dia!

  • blame the celtic tiger and crooked politicians. they took the spirit of ireland.

  • What has ireland come to now? Look what it used to be, music like this, pubs that actually played it, looking at the band through a room full of smoke with a great smell of guinness...which didnt cost 5.90 a pint!

  • i really agree wi you. they certainly know how to charge for the drink it cost me nearly a thousand quid for the week in galway was glad to get home to england but i am second generation irish and proud of it

  • Love it!

  • Rhythmically perfect,,, it is hard to believe that so many musicians could be so dead-on in their timing.

  • SPECTACULAR!

  • Anybody know the name of the second tune?

  • The second tune is The Longford Tinker. Not Longford Collector

  • correct

  • Martin Wynne's #2 & The Longford Collector.

This set and performance is so good that it can actually open a rift in the space/time continum. Be careful people!

  • Miraculous!

  • B E S T irish band ever !!

  • @skara100 Too bloody right!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I learned Martin Wynns from John Vesey (A brilliant player). This is different but also great.Well done KB and gang

  • I think I'm better beginning to understand why so many people compare Lunasa to the Bothy Band. There are definitely similarities. This was definitely one of the best groups that has ever been.

  • Pure class! cheery up music for the exhausted..lol

  • this is them at their Best!

  • such a great tune! Anyone know the guitar chords?

  • It is fantastic to be able to see and hear the Bothy Band. I spent alot of time at the Merriman in Scariff listening to the band and enjoyed every minute.

  • I can't believe something this incredible only gets three thousand views. Where are the other You Tube-ers spending their time?

  • my favourite tune.fantastic

  • Martin Wynne's with an apostrophe, actually. Martin Wynne was a famous Sligo fiddler.

I always like the old Bothy Band stuff.
