Thanks Bilko1234 for the amazing collection of music you've posted.
I've been playin guitar a good few years now and have only recently fallen for trad.Didn't know where to start but Mícháel Ó Domhnaill grabbed my attention straight away, absolutely love this tune.Anybody out there got any tips on playin it?(on guitar that is)
@oneofmanykinseys better still just dont play guitar it just dont feel right in this music and i love the bothy band but jesus save me from guitar players
@oneofmanykinseys better still just dont play guitar it just dont feel right in this music and i love the bothy band but jesus save me from guitar players they are the most anal retentive assholes who love themselves more than the music they play just fuck off
@omarshinken So you don't like guitarists then? I was only explaining what tuning Micheal was in to help someone that was curious. If you don't like guitarists in music or specifically traditional what music do you listen to? Ironic you would stereotype a whole section of people (i.e. guitarists) when it appears that you are the anal retentive asshole that loves his opinion.
@omarshinken I genuinely thought you were going to come back with some form of educated reply, instead you play the mother card. Sure sign of someone without the mental capacity to conduct any form of discussion.
@richardyingren you know i was just thinking this same thought its really amazing they never even plan how they would arrange their music this is proof of the skill of real irish musicians they just play and feel the way to expressing the tune fantastic!
What has ireland come to now? Look what it used to be, music like this, pubs that actually played it, looking at the band through a room full of smoke with a great smell of guinness...which didnt cost 5.90 a pint!
i really agree wi you. they certainly know how to charge for the drink it cost me nearly a thousand quid for the week in galway was glad to get home to england but i am second generation irish and proud of it
I think I'm better beginning to understand why so many people compare Lunasa to the Bothy Band. There are definitely similarities. This was definitely one of the best groups that has ever been.
It is fantastic to be able to see and hear the Bothy Band. I spent alot of time at the Merriman in Scariff listening to the band and enjoyed every minute.
Thank you for all these wonderful uploaded moments!

Locomotive, you are correct... such impeccable timing can only come from months of practice.
Yet they seem so young....
The contemporary group, Danu, seems almost as good at an equally young age.
RickM5199 2 years ago
The fluency is from many years of practice. The impeccable timing is probably as much inherited as trained.
