This USB SD card reader will work on any model PS3 just like USB sticks. I got my Targus SD card reader at walmart for under $20. You don't need the fat model PS3's just to use this SD card reader, but why you would use a SD card reader on the fat models when they already have SD card slots is beyond me. But you would only need this if you have Slim model PS3 or have a computer that doesn't have a SD card reader built in.
