The brilliance of this piece is the coagulation of an immensely deep melody out of the pit of confusion and randomness. Singing like this makes me thank God I was not born a psychopath...
Heard her first Isolde in Vienna and at Bayreuth.....then the MET...San Francisco....and throw in those Turandots... Nilsson: no one can touch her brilliance!
Gives me goose bumps! Nilsson owned this role, and I don't expect anyone to surpass her in my lifetime, maybe never. If there really is a God, I thank him for sharing this magnificent voice with us!
Who has a copy without this annoying time code? This is the greatest Wagner soprano of the last 50 years singing one of the most beautiful things ever written!
Sorry, the milk in the fridge just went sour.

Wow! But I prefer Jessye. Not to take away from this glorious voice one bit :)

@venetianformula Did you hear Christa Ludwigs take? It's even better in the lower register. Had the hair standing up on my arms.

Varnay, Nilsson y Flagstadt , en ese orden, fueron son y ¿seran? las mejores interpretes de los roles femeninos wagnerianos.

Unbelievably beautiful scenography...all the loneliness and desert of Isolde's love...

I would have liked to have seen Birgit Nilsson perform Tristan live. This is an excellent video. Thank you.
