  • What do the bands mean?

  • @myclem6674 Department of natural resources bands migratory birds to find out about their migratory routes and habits, its a way to research the birds, and dont quote me on this but i think a reward is offered for banded birds.

  • I hate you sleeves!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i love goose!!!! i kill 10 at week! =D

  • Yes, geese are caught when they are young, and the band is applied. They are just the same as any other goose of that species. The bands are used in tracking where the geese are traveling and other things that I'm not sure of. When you get a banded goose, you call the USGS and tell them when and where you harvested it and they send you a certifacate with the info of where and when the goose was banded. I have heard some bands are worth money when you call them in, but I can not confirm this.

  • resident birds no doubt

  • Can someone explain why are banded geese more valuable than the others?

  • @molinobeer Getting a banded goose is fairly rare. I've been goose hunting 4 years and have one. It's more or less bragging rights, Getting a banded goose is like shooting a 12 point buck. If you look at a goose hunters calls, The guy with the most bands is like the big dog of the group. Right now I'm still a puppy lol.

  • @MrSchwach

But confirm me this. Isn't a banded goose, just a regular goose, with a piece of metal attached to his leg by some conservationist organization?

  • ja era os gansitos

  • Nice Congrats hopefully we both get some bling during the 2010 2011 season
