@SpecialPauLiii As the wind speed increases you just use a smaller and flatter spinnaker made of heavier material. It is possible to sail with a spinnaker in 35+ knots, you just need the right equipment a VERY good crew who know what to do when everything goes tits up.
help me out....why are there two wheels? is "cranky man" altering the "pitch" of the sail relative to the wind, or raising and lowering the main sheet?
@kenfo0 The reason for having two steering wheels is to allow the skipper to steer the vessel from any point along the deck abreast the boat to help facilitate seeing beyond the large sails, which are essentially huge blind spots up front. Both wheels are functionally identical.
The "crank" is just a vertically mounted pair of cranks that drives a winch (I assume the one in center cockpit). This setup is much faster than conventionally cranking with a single hand along a horizontal plane.

@kenfo0 Whoops, stupid edit feature posted my comment three times. Anyways, I will divide this long message in several comments.
The winch is used for whatever rope you wrap around the winch. Once you adjust one rope as desired, you can engage the cleat, take the rope off the winch, and wrap on another rope that serves a different function. In other words, a single winch can serve multiple purposes. Notice that beginning at 0:31 at the bottom of the video frame, there is about 10 adjacent
@kenfo0 cleats mounted on the deck, with a row of ropes going in the front end and a tangle of them coming out the back. All of these ropes serve various purposes, such as halyards, sheets, vangs, travelers, downhauls, outhauls, etc., and those functions are labeled in white tape on top of each cleat. If you look carefully, only one rope goes from a cleat to the starboard winch. (There are two ropes going to the port winch, which tells me that they are only using that winch to keep the ropes
The crank is mechanically linked (below deck) to one of the winches. On this boat, there is another crank and another pair of winches further aft, and yet another winch between the steering wheels. I cannot tell at all in the video which cranks are mechanically linked to which winches, and neither which ropes serve which functions.
To the best of my knowledge, the guy in the video is, at the time, adjusting the SPINNAKER SHEET. I cannot tell
@porpoisefathom I know man, I have a 24.6ft 1986 Rampage Express with a 400hp 383 Mercruiser Stroker, I love my motors but there is something amazing about going somewhere this fast for free!

I'm translating some sailing rating rules from spanish to english, but as there are many technical words, I can't find all of them.
Do you know how it is said, when there is a lot of wind, when you shorten the mainsail?
All boats which have two masts are called "schooners", or I should say "two-masted boat"?
It is correct the term "long-coursed race" for a race with a long course, or is there an specific word?
Could anybody answer me? Thanks for your time! Great vid, by the way!
