  • @Insideoutmonkie I don't know what you said, but kiss my fucking hairy bean bag man

  • What a brilliant song, filled with anger and desperation, but yet a certain sense of pride despite being on the lower rung of a despotic hierarchy! I remember being in a resale shop when a woman rolls up in her BMW to shop. She shopped there because it was quaint and made her feel a little naughty, I shopped there because I could not afford to pay a days wage on a pair of shoes! I don't mind Shatner singing this, but any rich kid poser group doing this is an insult to me and to Pulp!

  • Great song... the MCR cover is shit, just like that emo band

  • this man sings the voices of a million brits.

  • love it

  • no yeah shatner's is wayyyyyyyy better

  • As a yank, I'm in complete amazement how great this version, but when I listen to Shatner, I really believe that he want's to screw the chick from Greece! Jarvis is great, but not convincing!

Props to Jarvis for such a brilliant song though, F-ing awesome. The addition of Joe Johnson on Shatner's version puts it OVER THE TOP!

  • MCR cover rocks XD dont shout at me! im british ARRGHH

  • You're only saying that because you're Americans. You're like the rich girl in the song. You don't GET that this, THIS is the anthem of the English working class.

  • @Dawnherald thats not true, im American and i understood it. i listened to the My Chemical Romance version first & fell in love with it :3

  • best. pulp. song.

  • This one sounds kinda lame and gay compared to Shatner's ...

  • @ptrhwk13 Shatner's version is funny but it's no comparison to this

  • Reckon I'm common - this song is anything but...........more like uncommonly FANTASTIC!!!

  • Are people playing some over the top, elaborate practical joke on me by saying the William Shatner version is better? Words fail me. Pulp forever!

  • Love the full version. My favorite band of all time. The 1990s was an amazing time. Love it, love it, love it, love it. Pulp for ever.

  • the shats cover is better. any one elts think so?

  • @1266west Great song, but the Shatner version is a definite improvement, IMO.

  • This isn't just a song, it's an anthem!!!

  • @pandaeyes42 Too fucking right

  • As much as I wanted to hate this song (Due to a hipster douchebags recommendation), I have to say I like this a lot.

  • i had heard of, but not heard pulp until my chem covered this, and i'm so glad they did because this song is amazing. and as devoted a my chemical romance fan i am

they did not TOUCH this <3

  • @RosiePeaCrazyMe yeah I like chem as well, but Pulp do this with passion , they've been there etc, chem havnt :-)

  • Electric picnic anyone?!! :)

  • I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to watch Pulp at Leeds, GET IN!

  • Come back Jarvis!!

  • Ever noticed how the logo Pulp used is pretty similar to the 80's Dr Who logo? Was that a coincidence?

  • the north shall rise again...jarvis..u rock

  • @happyfulone Arrr but the north never went down..lol.if you pardon my expression..lol,I am proud to be a northerner+if circumstances beyond my control hadn't recently forced me down south....well I would have stayed up north for sure,

I have northern blood flowing through my veins, nobody messes with us..we can def look after ourselves for sure.We share with each other.,there is a warmth a solidarit..I love Jarvis Cocker,he's a great+I loathe namby pamby pseudo toffs ,I eat them for breakfast

  • jarvis is a genius..makes me proud to be a sheffielder...and makes me proud of my roots...and the North shall rise again

  • brilliant and skitmanjones... that was an excellent retort! :P

  • One of the best song's written in the 90's (by a country mile!!). Sheffield might of lost it's steel industry yet Cocker put this city back on the map. Pulp will put on a storm at the Isle Of Wight festival.

  • this is urban poetry jarvis is a genious.

  • 3 chords, that's all you need.

  • @WilliamVonEagle there's so much work into this song than you think

  • @HardcoreGodz That's completely not what I said.

  • @WilliamVonEagle

    C G & F

  • @namllihs Yes, I can hear that.

  • I Love it =]
