  • 方言的确很难,你只要学习普通话就行了。你的汉语发音不错,但是断断续续的,连贯不起来就觉得不知道你在说什么。

  • That's a nice trial, I like it :) ! I can see that you are clever in learning Chinese while the most important thing is that you have a good opportunity to acquire it. Just as I learn English, the biggest challenge is to enlarge the vocabulary. Hope you will be adept in speaking Chinese shortly.

  • You must be from northeast part of Guangdong, am I right?

  • damn mate, that was really good. didn't understand a word but you inspired me.

im saying this because i know english/american people have a certain difficulty on speaking some languages because of the accent. like portugues (im portuguese). we use the "rrrr" and "tss" very often and some of you just can't make that sound. (pretty weird).

and im so going to sign up on chinese classes. cus at first i said no and thought it was impossible to me.

    you are quite handsome btw.

    cheers!

  • perfect progress, man

  • I don't know anything about the Chinese accent but it sounded good!!

  • I'm Aussie and i can't tell u nothing but don't speak Chinese stick to english

  • 我感觉你说完这段话得满头大汗,我是北京人,觉得你腔调还蛮好的,个别发音不准,但单从语音语调方面确实已经挺标准了

  • great start! Keep it up =D

  • btw, man, 我把你这个视频在我的facebook上分享了。

  • excellent job, man. you still have a little bit accent but hardly anyone can talk chinese so well like you do to be honest. 讲得很棒,再接再厉啊,估计你以后可以当另一个大山了,哈哈。

  • 讲的真么好,我鸭梨很大啊

  • i can't speak as good as you because I don't speak manderine..I speak cantonese!!

    haha

  • 為什麼你會打中文, genius

  • You speak better Chinese than I do, and I'm Chinese... lol.

  • good job man keep on going chinese is not that hard btw i am glad you like Beijing accent im from Beijing

  • I believe this is the "creepy white guy" accent....

  • Accent is not bad. Used some wrong words though.

  • I think it's more southern accent which makes me feel better cuz i come from the south!

btw where did you learn chinesE?

  • 还不错嗎 =)

At least the intonations are approximately correct, so I can understand what you've said. Keep trying!! XD

  • 口音不重要啦 你的发音不错的 可以沟通就行啦 中国南方人说中文不带儿化音的 北京腔我也不全懂 而且 大部分中国人说英语也带口音的 多看看中文电视剧有帮助哦 多找点朋友练练 祝你成功啊 Your accent is good, the only thing you may pay attention to is to decrease the time during which you translate ideas from Enlish. 呵呵 开心的学就好啦.

  • Hi, im from China, ur English is good. About ur accent, I think ur dont got a very clear accent.Congratuations,haha. That means u speak standard Putonghua. So ur lucky that u learn Chinese From Beijingners since if ur teacher is from southern part of China, then it is likely that u will got some southern accent. When Beijingners speak, they use much more retroflexion than people from other part of China, and that;s why it is easy for u to pronunce “哪儿” than“ 哪”.

    加油哦

  • @missavrilgrace

Actually there's nothing wrong with the southern accent. My mom's from Fuzhou in the Fujian Province, which is very south of China near Taiwan, but my mom can mimic a good Beijing accent, Cantonese accent, etc., so it all depends on how well you can imitate sounds.

  • dude, i think ur accent is just as good as most of chinese people, btw ,i saw u write in chinese, do u live in china or .....

  • hai ke yi

  • hey buddy, haha. your chinese not that kinda bad. 经常说就好了。所谓熟能生巧。

  • not bad bro, your chinese level is pretty close to my english level, in term of accent at least. just that you would sound better to think things thou before speaking, not a pause and "uhh" after just a few words in every sentence. speak a better faster might help too.

  • 你中文也太棒了吧!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your mandarin is pretty good.but there are some slight problem with your pronounciation.especially when you speak some characters starting with the sound j.Your voice sounds like z instead of j.Also please pay attention to the speaking tone of the phrase "北京".Hope your mandarin will get better in the future!

  • hao very good

  • Emphasize your tones more. Did you learn Chinese in Taiwan? It sounds like it. You need to pronounce zh/sh/ch more clearly. Your sh sounds like your x's and they both sounds like s's.

It sounds very Taiwanese and kind of sissy. Just being honest.

  • @kentopher The taiwanses accent does not sound sissy. douche. Totally sounds like a mainland china accent, i can really hear those r's plus he is writing in simplified. 啊,你住在北京嗎?你的口音聽起來北京的。但是我覺的臺灣的口音比較好!哈哈 沒問題,你的中文非常好!

  • @ajmartino With all due respect, the accent in Taiwan sounds a little feminine. You will notice it when you listen to some Taiwanese actor or actress, such as 楊丞琳.

  • @SuperTerencek well i would hope a taiwanese 'actress' sounded feminine... Feminine or not, the taiwanese accent is much nicer then mainland. No possible argument with this.

  • 加油 呵呵 good job

  • 我教你四川口音算了,你的口音比我好,真的。我说普通话口音比你还重啊!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!真J8无语了!!

  • gud job, 加油~!

  • hey man ur pronounciation is pretty good tho. As a native mandarin speaker I wouldn't find much difficulty if i were talking to you face to face.Hera are some little hints for u: Dont inmitate a Beijing accent because only 10 million speak Chinese like that ... I think what u want to learn is the standard way to articulate but not the regional accent ,isnt it?another problem is ,the word "Accent" in Chinese is translated as 口音(kou yin) but not 腔调(Qiangdiao).

  • @TheCase4Utube That's mandarin

  • 你說得比我們大部份香港人還好

    但是,你有點緊張,有些聽得不太清楚

  • Wo, your Mandarin is pretty good.

Let me tell you some truth, Beijing Accent is kind of far away from standard Mandarin, since they like to add an "er" sound at the end an word or sentence, (whether it sounds more friendly is debatable)Every province has its local language, you don't have to lean them. Did you lean the Chinese Alphabet (pin yin) ? which will help you to pronounce the perfect Mandarin.

  • the "accent" sounds like "emphasis" in Chinese.

probably you can use another word

  • 咬字太用力 anyway that's quite good

  • very good ideed. the only thing I would suggest is to slow down a bit when you speak, as you are not yet very adept with the language, if you speak slower and aim to pronounce each word with procision, in time when you are more confident and can speak each word very clearly, you can speed up and you will find your mandarin closer to native speaker

  • accent's good, but need to improve grammar ! good job

  • @moomiewting Does Chinese really has a legit grammar system? I thought it didn't have one.

  • wow you're pretty good!! I understood everything perfectly

  • i really dont like northern accent

    southern accent is the coolest

  • good chinese accent~

  • very good pronounciation. But you still need more practice to make your speaking speed higher.^^

  • Cool, it sounds pretty good. Keep it up

  • wow ur pretty good

  • good but you tsk a lot :P

  • haha ur so cute

  • real good as a foreigner :)

  • Good Job! :)

  • thanx..its an attempt at mandarin :0

  • damn u got the accent down

  • holy crap! i was suprised when u started speeking chinese! u r really good!i can speak fluent chinese and if i dont look at u speaking it actually sound like a real chinese in most places!i dont see many white people speaking fluent not so accently chinese.(not meant to be racist)

    keep it up!

  • 哟唉~那(nen4)么喜欢北京调儿啊!那爷我今儿就给你上一课。这京腔儿可真不是一天半拉(la3)月能练得出来的。要说这京味儿啊,讲究的就是爽快(kuai0)喝亮(liang0), 不像那南方人,说话跟含着口热茄子似(shi4)的,呜噜呜凸地,听不出个123来。咱北京人啊图得就是这(zhen4)么个干净麻利脆!!

  • pretty awssome dude~

as a native speaker in mandarin, you were doing much better than any english guys who try to speak chinese well, including Kevin Rudd .You still need to practise your tone, and try to speak longer sentences.

  • wow...u did a great job...u sound like my chinese bestfriend when he talks in chinese...good job

  • you speak good chinese tho!!很好!

  • lol, you got very good chinese. keep it up, man.

sigh 。。

  • I think that you have done very well in using the correct tones, but maybe you can improve on fluency by preparing a little more beforehand. If you want to do more of a northern Chinese accent you need to twirl the "r"s and stress "sh/ch/zh" sounds; but if you want to do a southern one you should not twirl the "r" and "sh/ch/zh" becomes more like "s/c/z" instead.

  • good idea. i will prepare some text next time and just read from it and then ppl will be able to better gauge my accent

  • hahaha i can't understand "奋斗" either.....

  • yep, i thought the video was cool n that it'd be cool for someone to put one that isn't in english ;)

  • ah,,,i just saw this video...did you put this video to response my "chinese english accent"video??

  • carry on, man! you can do it!! good!!

  • Tv show = 电视剧

    subtitle=字幕 not 幕字

actually, you have pretty good peking accent. if you can't make with standard mandarin. just talk with peking accent. 'cause everybody in china could distinguish and understand that familiar accent. i'm from the north, and now studying abroad, where my first roommate was born in germany like you. he used to tell me better to speak a languge with some accent so to sound like native.

  • watching this now, again, i realize how bad this really is. i should've planned out what i wanted to say more lol

  • 我都谢您们!

  • hehe cool

    you speak very good

about the beijing accent thats very hard and beijing accent has a lot of wired expressions

and not many expressions are in the 奋斗,coz its a little bit dirty...i can speak perfect beijing accent and i like it although not all the chinese people like that...

    you speak really good!

  • Being Chinese myself I understand how different the languages are - especially the fact that unlike English, the intonation of a word in Chinese completely changes its meaning. Yes, you occasionally let slip bits of "Western" intonation - but the fact that I can understand what you're saying is a testament to the accuracy of your accent.

I think intonation is the biggest stumbling block for Westerners learning Chinese, so kudos. Keep at it, you're doing a great job.

  • the word "subtitle" in Chinese is 字幕(zi mu),and i think it would be better to use 口音(kou yin) rather than 腔调(qiang diao) when you want to say "accent". genenrally speaking, your accent is quite standard.but the fluency is to be improved. if you want to speak in a "beijingish" way i guess the drama 奋斗(fen dou) that you've mentioned would be a good example for you.

  • As a Native Chinese,I think your Chinese is excellent:)Chinese is always very difficult to learn for the people from English speaking countries,I would like to say:"你中文说得还很溜的~~:)

  • you're saying this to make him feel better but honestly speaking his chinese sucks for someone who's studied it for two years

  • I have to say I disagree. It's difficult to learn ANY new language as an adult, and even more so for going between English and Chinese simply because these two languages are so different.

That said, the comments on your Youtube channel make you out to be a very rude and ignorant person. Kenteatworld, please disregard audreyfaithperryhill's comment - it's complete bullshit.

  • whatever's on my youtube channel is completely irrelevant to what i'm saying here.

if you ain't deaf, how can you say this guy is doing "a great job" for someone who's studied a language for two years? When you've studied English for two years, were you worse than this guy? I can hardly believe that

  • At first I thought you were just a troll who goes around pissing people off, but you're actually here defending yourself. Which is great, if not the fact that you're just plain wrong.

Chinese and English are two. Completely. Fucking. Different. Languages. I've been learning French for two years and none of the students can speak French as well as this guy can speak Chinese.

And yes, your Youtube channel is relevant. It proves that most of your video comments have no intelligent basis.

  • thanks llama, i'm def workin on it. i've actually only been learning chinese for a little bit more than a year b/c i moved back to germany for about 8 months in the middle (not conducive to learning chinese :)

i'll be studying at beijing U this september so i'm hoping to make a lot of progress before then. and good luck w/ your french!
