Well... the point is to get an idea of the surrounding while they are not moving. In shooting sports, you also show the crowd. I'm sure you've seen sporting events and saw the cameraman span the audience when there is a break in the action.
what happened to this cameraman? i mean, you shouldve focus to both players and not the sorroundings.. anyways, nobody knows them except for the players..
