what's hilarious about this interview and his Meet the Press appearance, is that as much as he explained himself here and on MTP on why he supported Obama, Limbaugh, Hannity and others summarized all his words to "he's doing it because he's black." What a big insult. This man is one of the most intelligent americans we have, and to be a republican and yet insulted by right-wing commentators is terrible.

lowbdpressure, like Powell, I too retired from the US Army - but not as a PC desk-jockey as Powell was. I was combat arms all twenty years. I also have a Masters in Education. The things you listed off as Powell's achievements ARE NOT achievements but positions he was given. He wasn't a great general or Chief of Staff and he was an even worse Sec of State. Powell's career, aside from him being a minority, was at VERY best mediocre. He wasn't bad - but he was far from great either.

The tax argument should be out of the picture or at least focused on the right direction which is that as Collin said Taxes are for good, but only if they are used wisely. It'd be nice to have Powell more involved in an Obama administration.

Powell probably shares my concern about Obama that he may withdraw from Iraq too soon and put our gains there at stake. This second phase of the Iraq War, for me, is a humanitarian campaign.

It's fine to have opposed the initial invasion but now we HAVE to care about protecting Iraqis from vicious organized gangs of religious-fanatics. Imagine if roaming militias of radical Christian-Evangelicals were terrorizing the US.
