Both of these guys are legends and the resultant album is one of my favourites.Eric gets better with age even if he sometimes says he is slowing down a tad.
Wow after watching this I somewhat noticed what may have made the album even better with the both of them singing. Basically he sings with an english accent and the other sings with an american one, they both are great but when you put the two together there is a strange subtle harmonizing effect or something, does this make sense? Partly own doing, known as someone who has never liked limelight Still extremely talented-Eric Clapton has always known this- doing songs like: Cocaine, After Midnight, Make Love to You, Travellin Man etc.. Also,Mark Knopfler idealizes JJ. This is a great opportunity for Mr.JJ Cale to come out of his shell and show the world his great talent songwriting, singing, and playing guitar-he's an excellent guitar play.
J.J. Cale is the best kept secret in music. Everyone should check him out. Especially "Ride Me High" or "Thirteen Days" or any of his other more electric songs. It's timeless. So much better than anything on the radio these days.
npr did a great interview with mr. cale (somewhere around june/july 2004) that was just fantastic. (npr may still have that on their site, for those interested in the interview.) hes been around a very long time, but only gets better. he's a very cool guy!
