If you buy a Canon, you will eventually have to face the factory service center and they will NOT honor their warranty. My HD so-called Professional Camera has been in the shop THREE times in its short 6 month life. They tried to charge me $1,000 because of a defective firewire port. Complete idiots. Defective equipment and a 4 year warranty. I will NEVER buy any Canon product again. Period. Considering it, are you? Save your money ... don't do it. Canon sucks.
Sorry to repeat a question if this has already been answered...but, did you do any post processing to adjust levels before posting this? Beautiful color and level balance.
I also own the XL H1 camcorder, and I can attest to the excellent low light and accurate color response produced by this camera. The footage of Gotenberg is highly excellent ! I have heard that the 6 X Wide Angle Zoom lens also available for this camera produces even sharper images than the stock 20 X zoom which ships with the XL H1 and XL H1s.
I'm seriously looking at this particular camera. I've found used ones on the web for just below $5000. I'm still vacillating between this and the Canon XH A1, but this has some features I like and will need if down the road I want to add to my stuff rather than outgrowing my stuff and having to buy entirely new stuff.
@NelsonStJames check out some of my videos on my channel. I shoot with the Canon XH-A1s and It essentially can do everything the XL can do, minus some of the attachments. It really just depends on what you want to shoot and how mobil you'll be with it. I would recommend the XH-A1s if your going to be moving around a lot.
Still has a nice look to it...............Now, if I can just do something like that with my panasonic ag dvc20p with only a 1/8" 3 ccd................I am trying to get a more pure look, but my camera has a bit of a "washed" look in the vids............even at night.....and they call it a "pro" cam..
I got a Canon VIXIA HF11 and have had it for 8 months now... and never could I get it to do that well even near night... changing the settings and all
i love canon

LONGING FOR FREEDOM is a 90 minute indie feature filmed with a Canon XL.
Please visit my channel and have a look at the trailer and - if you like - let me know what you think.
Thanks,

You can get the same result from a Flip video camera. And the focus is hard to maintain. Save your money.

I also have to ask how do you deal with camera condensation?
troutbum86 2 years ago
Go from warm to cold slowly.. Keep the camera in your bag in a moderate temperature.
vasagasy 2 years ago
