looks like your gpu is losing contact with the heat sink. you need new thermal paste and new flux for the board. there is a quick way to fix it but its not good for it.

i had the same problem... it is your blue ray drive. for all you xbox fans the playstation has a much smaller fail rate... i have a ps3 and have had it for 4 years and it has never needed to be sent in. my xbox i have had for 1 and a half years and it has been sent in twice

it could be overheating make sure you keep your ps3 ventilated and clean it somtimes... dust build up can generate and create heat or even slow performance. clean it and give it a break for a while

Your completely right. Both do have their negatives and positives, each varying in situation. You can't really say one is truly "better" then the other. Although i do take more to the 360 i am actually buying a ps3 because it does have some better things (particularly ps3 only games). But it is all about taste and each one is a box load of fun. But no matter what console it will have probs sooner or later just as you said.

Nither is better than another, my 360 SMOKES a PS3 in loading speed but gameplay is nicer on a PS3, it's all personal preference.

I own both systems and sadly I'v had more problems with my PS3 then my xbox. I had sony replace my first PS3 after owning it for about a year and its been 7 months and i'm starting to have more problems with the second unit. I'v had my xbox 3 1/2 yaers and never had 1 problem. Sucks cause theres certain games I like to play on PS3 but if it keeps freezing in the middle of games whats the point. As a consumer I have to give it to microsoft for being more reliable.

Loll, if I was a 9 year old I probably would have kept my ps3 . Ive owned both the systems, and my first ps3 froze and my 2nd ps3's tray wouldent accept disc's , so I said fuck that and bought a 360. Ive enjoyed it much more and have never had a single problem with it. its true Xbox 360 has very bad reliability and it breaks after a few months, and the ones who had one which still haven't broke until now are very lucky and in your case, u just got bad luck twice on PS3 and good luck on Xbox 360...

If you are getting a glare, turn off the lights or change your seating position, and worst case you might have to move your tv higher or turn it away from this light that is giving it a glare. Depends on the time of day we have to pull the blinds when we are gaming

Same EXACT problem is happening to me, I think the problem might be that I'm using a PAL HDTV, while I got an NTSC PS3. I'm not using an HDMI cable, but I just got it. I'll see if thats the problem. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, the problem is since my PAL HDTV opperates with 560i (I think?)and the PS3is currently on 480p that the TV can't work with the PS3 properly. And I don't think my TV supports NTSC. But non the less, I'll comment about my results.
