I normally never read the manga of an anime because I don't like spoiling the anticipation for a show but I do have problems if the anime doesn't decide to follow the manga, so is fairy tale following the manga? (I do understand that your comment is 1 year old)

@AkumaADemoncus yeah im still watching the anime and i love how the action has changed alot from the very beginning, for example it doesnt do one of those intro to a skill anymore lol and it is actually following the manga, with like one or 2 fillers after an arc but right now it's almost catching up to the manga... i mean in the manga the S Class arc just finished. I'm not sure if after this arc the anime will be on hold and have a second season or if it'll end up like Soul Eater anime.

I loved fairy tail. it was fun. I didn't enjoy One Piece from what I saw of the anime but I was that way towards Naruto for a long time- now it's my favorite show. I'll give One Piece another fair shot too! I enjoyed the trailer- and can't wait till the anime's out!

I saw the first few episodes of One Piece back like 4 or 5 years ago, and I enjoyed it just fine but not enough to go out of my way to watch it. Naruto was the same way, but I got back into that when Shippuden came out, watched the whole thing and now absolutely loved it. there are definately similarities between these two shows, but I wouldn't call it a rip off. It's similar art, as it is to Rave Master. I find Fairytail a bit smoother then One Piece.

But last night I started up One Piece again for the manga (Four Kids destroys any anime they touch), and I have been enjoying it. There's lots of differences though and I see lots of differences between Natsu and Luffy. Mainly that Luffy is a lot less violent. But Luffy was said to have been based off of Goku anyways- as was Naruto, by the creator themselves. Most shonen jump is not too original...So he's not the most unique character anyways.

i admit that the earlier chapters are almost completely fruitless but newer releases show that the main plot line of the manga is leaning towards the disappearing dragons and the revival of zeref, whose name is used constantly in the earlier chapters

hiro mashima has been allowing a trail of breadcrumbs to let the whole manga fall into place

and as for one piece yes i agree that luffy and natsu's personalities are twin like and the art is similar

tho this manga is very popular, the chances of this being made for anime adaptation are 50/50

on one hand Hiro mashima has already stated in an interview that he has received offers for an anime adaptation but has yet made a Decision...

on the other hand Hiro's other series Rave Master was Cut short at 51 episodes, and he stated in a interview that it was very much a hassle getting canceled,

maybe it will effect if he wants to go through it again...

first off scanlators dont translate, they are for... wait for it Translators to do. The pages that are scanlated have yet to be translated and will not be until a year or so. I think that you should buy it but you should not have to wait for god knows how many years. i could not imagine waiting for stuff like naruto and bleach, the dub of naruto is hopeless and is not even up to shippuden yet, i can not comment on the manga because i dont know, but what takes them so long to do it? dubbing i can understand but to fix up a manga? retracing and typesetting can only take so long

I think scanlators do a great job seeing as they use up their own time so we can read it. If i lived in japan i would buy jump but i don't so i have to read it for free online. thats why they put "please buy these volumes when they're available" on every scanlation. if you want to wait for the volumes then feel free but don't shove your view in people's faces. srry for intervenening ^^

There's a reason for that both Oda and Hiro were in the same era as Akira Toriyama's work with Dragon Ball. Both created a similar artwork to his and both closely resemble each other because of this.

Hiro also did 'Groove Adventure Rave' ('Rave Masters' in the states), which features the same artwork and similar character design.

Ya i read all of the chapters as of now (As of4/9/2008,there's 82 chapters in Japan)And i bought the 2 volumes from DEL REY.And i looove this manga,it has an awesome story-line and characters !! :D And by the way those weren't "pirates" but badits >_> And Natsu (main character) has a special fire-based magic ability called "Dragon Slayer" It would be awesome if DEL REY released volumes 3-8,sometime near the futue,cuz i can't wait!!
