I agree with you absolutely. This is a great song sung extremely well, but "Cats" wasn't worth squat. The era of "My Fair Lady", "Music Man", "Carousel", et al is gone and with it the most talented contemporary composers and writers seem to be flailing away helplessly. The only exception to that has been "Phantom of the Opera", but this has mostly been a bleak three decades for Broadway.
