This is definitely taken in Guildford Mall, Surrey, British Columbia. I was born there and never left. I remember everything there. The wishing well fountain is in the spot where the playground now is.
I love how corny and lame this is! :D The irony being that the mall is much shabbier and... just, like, the pit of Slurrey now. Whatever happened to that badass fountain?!
thats not the old friary . . fuck sake .. . it was filmed in thge the states with OVER DUBS saying GUILDFORD . . . . . . if you lived in the 80s you know that the friary was the pits . . . . . .
@TEEC4C Sorry, but it was definitely shot at Guildford Mall. You clearly see Woodwards (among others), a legendary BC department store that never operated in the States.
@TEEC4C A detail in the clip description that you may have missed is this is Guildford Town Centre Mall in Surrey, British Columbia - hopefully not to be confused with anything in Guildford, Surrey, UK.
@xbox7202 It's been many years since I've been in the Mall so I can't pinpoint the location of what would occupy the space where the fountain and pool used to be located. If I had to guess I'd say there would be a staircase or elevators now. The mall layout changed a few times (and expanded) since it first opened; there used to be an outdoor courtyard with a concrete play area for kids, and the movie theaters used to be inside the mall
@robatsea2009 i just asked someone, and aperantly it was where that kids play area is and it makes sense because i see what the play area shape is and then i see a hexagon shaped brick design arund it and the fountain with the stairs was hexagon shape
@robatsea2009 look up a picture of the play area by searching 'Guildford mall playground'.the link should be-(Baby Brandon's Adventures: Playground Fun at Guildford). look at the shape and spot where the play area is and look where the pool was because i asked someone where the fountain was and she said it was there and i also found evidence
@xbox7202 Yes, most likely that's the spot. The original concrete play area was part of an outdoor courtyard down at the Woodwards end of the building, but that was lost when the mall expanded in the mid-to-late 1970s.
@xbox7202 As what other users stated, the water fountain/pool is where the playground is. Now that the playground has been removed, due to the current renovation project, you can now see the blue tile amidst the concrete.
Hey awesome video, live 5 min away from Guildford. Funny thing is that the floor, benches, and fake trees are exactly the same to this day except you hear that they are doing a remodel. Whatever happened to those old Woodward's commercials you used to have on here, are you able to re-post them?
If I had realized sooner that the SkyTrain actually went all the way down to Surrey, I might have considered going down there one night during the Games. Oh well...

This IS Guildford Mall. C'mon people it's obvious. And as TheSurreygal says, the fountain was where sport check and The source are now.

it was ether where the food court is, but the suroundings dond look like it would
it could be where that realty kiosk under the stairs is now outside of walmart

@joecanuck2 Those trees are not fake I know this because I used to work for the mall and one of the night jobs after closing is watering them....

You would've had to take a bus after you got off the Skytrain, as the Skytrain doesn't go anywhere near Guildford.
